  1. I think this is actually solid for both teams. Cleveland did very well getting this much for Kyrie when they basically had to move him. IT and Crowder makes it so they are still the favorite in the East. They may lose LeBron and Thomas after the season but they'll have a high pick and assets to move toward a rebuild if they wanted. From Boston's end, they get 2 years of Kyrie and it's worth it if he re-signs (not sure if that's likely) in Boston. They set themselves up for the future and they absolutely didn't want to pay IT $200 million. As far as the Bulls are concerned, this has nothing to do with Butler. These deals aren't mutually exclusive even though people keep bringing them up in the same context. The Bulls likely wanted this year's pick for Butler. I would have insisted on a pick in this year's draft as well. The Celtics love Jayson Tatum and weren't willing to do that. Why would anyone want this package for Butler? The Bulls have no need for Isaiah Thomas. They are trying to lose as many games as possible. The plan involves possibly landing Michael Porter Jr or Marvin Bagley III. That's the silver lining in the Bulls deal.
  2. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 12:36 PM) Definitely think he can be a TOR guy, just not getting to the SouthSide as fast as Giolito, Kopech, Lopez, or Hansen...Cease, Dunning, Adams, Guerrero, Stephens, Clarkin may all very well be starters in The Show Dane Dunning doesn't project as a top of the rotation guy
  3. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 21, 2017 -> 04:02 PM) It's safe to say the league has figured him out. DFA him. There are still people that don't think Abreu is good. I understand that it's 1B and he's not a superstar but he's slashing .299/.348/.538. He's on pace for another 30 homer season with a wRC+ of 132 which is 2nd best in his career and a .371 wOBA.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 20, 2017 -> 01:48 PM) Hahn is lucky he didn't get fired after last season In Keith Law's most recent chat, he said that if Tatis ever actually played for the White Sox, they likely wouldn't have ever traded him. He never even played on the Sox DSL team.
  5. As of now, I'd predict it to look like this: 1. Leury Garcia CF 2. Yoan Moncada 2B 3. Jose Abreu 1B 4. Casey Gillaspie DH 5. Matt Davidson 3B 6. Nick Delmonico LF 7. Ryan Cordell RF 8. Kevan Smith C 9. Tim Anderson SS Rotation: 1. Carlos Rodon LHP 2. James Shields RHP 3. Lucas Giolito RHP 4. Reynaldo Lopez RHP 5. Veteran Free Agent Bullpen: Nate Jones RHP Zach Putnam RHP Free Agent Free Agent Aaron Bummer LHP 2 more spots
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 15, 2017 -> 02:53 PM) To put Giolito ahead of Lopez is absolutely absurd to me. I still had Giolito ahead of Lopez
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 15, 2017 -> 07:55 PM) Personally I would put Hansen ahead of all but Kopech. I can't because of proximity to majors. Hansen and Giolito are the same age. Giolito is likely starting for the Sox on Monday. Hansen is at High A. Just more risk involved.
  8. I had Zavala on my midseason list but this is craziness. He went from underrated to overrated pretty quickly. He's 24 years old at High A and there's definite concern that he's not a major league catcher. He can hit but in no universe is he the caliber of prospect that Zack Collins is. These things aren't mutually exclusive. Every time Collins gets mentioned, Zavala doesn't need to be brought up. They will likely share time in Birmingham next year as well.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 14, 2017 -> 10:00 AM) If the PTBNL is sent after the season is over, do they still have to clear waivers? Maybe that is why they did a Named Later instead of just a deal? Just spit balling here. Tony Kemp would make sense because he technically needs to clear waivers or get claimed by Sox. If he's not technically "through waivers" yet it makes sense. The only way this matters in this sense is if Sox are acquiring someone on the 40 man. Astros can just trade any prospect not on the 40 man roster.
  10. Bears claimed former Bucs kicker Roberto Aguayo off waivers. Really nice move. He was awesome in college and is only 23. These are shots worth taking.
  11. Keeping guys down longer than necessary doesn't really make sense at this point. If Kopech does in AAA what he's doing in AA, he'll be in the majors at some point next season. I think there's a solid chance that Kopech and Eloy end the 2018 season with the Sox and they absolutely should if ready.
  12. Here's our FutureSox write-up on the Burr deal: http://www.chicagonow.com/future-sox/2017/...onus-pool-room/
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 05:20 PM) Here's our detailed write-up, with videos and scouting information, links to interviews, etc. Everything you need to know (except the amount of pool room exchanged, which was not reported). As Matt mentions here, we never got any information on how much pool space was officially traded. They've traded some to Texas and Arizona. They have $4.75 million to spend. They signed 2 prospects for a total of $600K. I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple more similar deals. Yrizarri and Burr aren't "elite" level prospects but I'm glad the Sox are using the resources they have to acquire potential talent.
  14. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Aug 8, 2017 -> 05:53 PM) Can anyone predict a starter for Saturday at Tex Rangers? Saturday 8/19 would be Derek Holland barring any changes. Lines up Holland/Gonzalez/Rodon/Lopez/Shields currently
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 8, 2017 -> 01:16 PM) theScore‏Verified account @theScore 1h1 hour ago Josh Rosen: 'Raise the SAT requirement at Alabama and see what kind of team they have.' http://thesco.re/2wqyv8o Rosen's thoughts here were taken completely out of context. People need to read the entire article of what he said.

    Tebow

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 04:40 PM) What measurement do you want to use? In 2015, Tyrod Taylor was tied for 7th in passer rating, Cutler was 16th. Taylor's completion percentage was 63.7%, Cutler's 64.4%. At the same time, Taylor's Y/A was 8 versus Cutler's 7.6. Taylor's TD:INT was 20:6, Cutler's 21:11. Taylor's QBR was 70.3, Cutler's 65.9. About the only area Cutler really outplayed Taylor was 4th quarter comebacks, and he has been pretty good in the clutch throughout his career. Meanwhile, in 2016, Cutler was awful and he got hurt, while Taylor was merely mediocre while maintaining a very low turnover rate. I don't see how anyone can say with any legitimacy that Jay Cutler is a better QB than Tyrod Taylor other than wearing orange tinted glasses. You got me. I didn't think you could see the orange glasses through the computer screen. Dammit.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 04:25 PM) Jay Cutler is Javy Vasquez. Javy Vasquez is Jay Cutler. Tantalizing tools...mediocre results. Sure but there are way more guys on the planet that can do what Javy Vazquez can do. Jay Cutler is like one of the 15-20 best QB's in the world.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 03:42 PM) Tyrod Taylor isn't that good. Jay Cutler blows. Blows? That's kind of ridiculous. He's an above average NFL starting QB. Somewhere in that 14-20 range. I think Cutler is better than Tyrod Taylor is but that's definitely debatable.
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 08:45 AM) Or you know, he just put 5 good games together because he's a professional baseball player. Collins did have an .900 OPS in July though
  20. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 6, 2017 -> 09:57 AM) Will you guys be providing your indivual lists? Just curious where certain guys like Gillaspie, Delmonico, etc. slotted amongst the different contributors. I don't think they have in the past but mine was this: 1. Yoan Moncada 2B 2. Eloy Jimenez OF 3. Michael Kopech RHP 4. Luis Robert OF 5. Lucas Giolito RHP 6. Reynaldo Lopez RHP 7. Blake Rutherford OF 8. Zack Collins C 9. Dylan Cease RHP 10. Alec Hansen RHP 11. Jake Burger 3B 12. Spencer Adams RHP 13. Dane Dunning RHP 14. Carson Fulmer RHP 15. Jordan Stephens RHP 16. Casey Gillaspie 1B 17. Luis Alexander Basabe OF 18. Gavin Sheets 1B 19. Zack Burdi RHP 20. Ian Clarkin LHP 21. Jordan Guerrero LHP 22. Ryan Cordell OF 23. Micker Adolfo OF 24. AJ Puckett RHP 25. Luis Curbelo SS 26. Luis Gonzalez OF 27. Bernardo Flores LHP 28. Alex Call OF 29. QUOTE (Soxnfins @ Aug 6, 2017 -> 08:05 PM) I don't think it's worth it. And at the moment, I'm just still bitter about my Dolphins signing Cutler (albeit did well with Gase) & even considering Tebow for a comeback to football. Already have one team that is being clowned on, don't need another. Why would you be mad about that? He's better than Matt Moore and instantly becomes the 2nd best QB in the division
  22. I didn't have Delmonico in my top 30. Some of the others did. He was tough to fit.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 04:29 PM) I feel like too many have held his college debacle against him. It has been a full year now of him pitching like a superstar. He has also managed to throw 163 IP during that time period so he won't be a guy you have to restrict if/when he gets to the majors. So in that year 10-8, 2.15 ERA, 163 IP, 108 H, 58 BB, 219 K, 9 HR. That translates to 12k/9, 3.2BB/9, 6H/9, and craziest of all a home run allowed every 18 IP or so. I am in love with Hansen. I couldn't justify putting him ahead of Giolito yet. Giolito is only 3 months older than Hansen and on the brink of pitching in the majors again. Hansen, while he's been awesome, was a college starter at a major program and is still in High A.
  24. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 02:32 PM) Not talking smack, just curious how someone values Dunning over Lopez. Lopez has been fantastic at Charlotte, which is the best hitters park in the league. He also has plus stuff and is only 23 years old. I feel like he's constantly overlooked in the system, even being a top 50 prospect. He's all of 9 months older than Hansen and 11 months older than Dunning. I think he will be a hell of a #2 to Kopech for years to come with the Sox. I would say... 1. Kopech(easy) 2. Lopez 3. Hansen (slight) 4. Giolito (debatable, I'm in the Coop will fix em camp) 5. Cease 6. Dunning 7. Guerrero 8. Adams ... 37. Ballpark Vendor 55. Pat Daneker 79. Carson Fulmer In all seriousness, it's an abundance of riches. Even Guerrero at #7 has a good shot as a #3/#4 rotation lefty. This is interesting. We just did top 30's for FS. I believe I went Michael Kopech Lucas Giolito Reynaldo Lopez Dylan Cease Alec Hansen Spencer Adams Dane Dunning Jordan Stephens Carson Fulmer Ian Clarkin Jordan Guerrero AJ Puckett
  25. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 07:47 AM) This is probably a dumb question, but is the Rule V draft order also determined by the same standings? So if we finish with the worst record we get the #1 Rule V pick in December? That in and of itself could net us a nice prospect with some of the guys who are going to be left off 40 man rosters (looking at the Yankees specifically) Also, can you pick up multiple guys during the Rule V? This is a really good post. Totally didn't even think about this but yes. If they have roster space, they can make small trades with other teams to do this. Say the Sox have the #1 pick and Philly picks 2nd and Cincy 3rd. If Cincy and Philly aren't interested in using Rule 5 pick, Sox could buy those picks from them for cash and just take the top 3 guys.
