FutureSox: 2025 International Class comes into focus
Very few from last years international class are coming stateside. Jurdrick Profar is and Yhoiker Fajardo was going to prior to being traded.

Sox development staff breakdown...
He was their hitting coach last year and they won the Southern League title

Roki Sasaki Free Agency - Dodgers vs Blue Jays for Roki's heart
If the Blue Jays are trading for space without having a commitment from him, I think that's nuts. There's nobody to spend $2 million on if he chooses the Dodgers.

Stories on Sox signing class...
I think they’re much more likely to spend more money on prospects than trade it at this point.

2025 International signings thread
I’ll have an international article out in the morning that offers plenty of context with Keller quotes etc.

2025 International signings thread
This is definitely a thing. Guys get money at like 14-years-old. Sometimes they get way better and sometimes they get way worse. David Keller has been all over the marketplace He won't rank. We will have a tough time ranking Alejandro Cruz at this point. The system is pretty damn good.

Chris Getz on the REKAP podcast
A few things I found interesting. 1. He spoke to David Keller that morning about signing someone on international market. Sox were in attendance to watch Cuban teenager Cristian Rego. 2. Peyton Pallette is a dude in relief 3. He expects to sign someone to a $100 million contract 4. The story about his buddy from the day he was hired was tremendous

Definitely the best appearance Chris Getz has had anywhere

Later in 2025 season - Schultz and Hagen S. as MLB bullpen pieces
Ownership is just not spending that type of money this offseason

Would we be
Yeah but it makes more sense when you're better. They won't be signing free agents with QO next winter either. True. I think it's more about the bonus pool lost than anything. There's zero reason the Sox should be forfeiting draft picks right now though.
-
Would we be
Correct but the signing team still forfeits the picks.
-
Would we be
Here's the thing about the free agent market: it would be Santander and Alonso plus forfeiting the first pick in the 2nd round, first pick in the 3rd round and $1 million in international pool space so that you might win 65 games.

Crochet Traded to Boston
I know that most fans always want their team to go for it but San Francisco has hurt themselves in free agency. They keep signing players with QO atatched to short-term deals and forfeiting 2nd round picks. They have a smaller bonus pool every year and now their system isn't very good.

I think Schultz makes big league starts in 2025

White Sox 2025 International Signing Period
I previewed the international signing period for the White Sox at FutureSox. It's currently available on Patreon: https://www.futuresox.net/2025/01/03/2025-white-sox-international-signing/ The White Sox have $6.2 million to spend and their agreements total around $4.2 million so far. The group is headlined by Cuban 3B Alejandro Cruz. They've also signed Cuban righty Yobal Rodriguez. Pitching has been a focus and they've given some other bonuses as well. Cesar Familia RHP Dominican Republic $350K Jhonny Morao LHP Dominican Republic $300K Roderick Medina RHP Panama $275K Yordani Soto SS Dominican Republic $750K Diego Natera C Venezuela $225K Jeremy Aponte OF Venezuela $200K Igor Escobar Inf Venezuela $70K. I'm curious to see how the presence of Roki Sasaki affects the White Sox. Can they trade money to help someone sign him? Can they sign a player that gets their deal voided from the team who actually signs him? I'll be curious to see that.

White Sox agree to 1 year deal with INF Josh Rojas
The Sox literally don't have anywhere for Cartaya to play.
-
White Sox agree to 1 year deal with INF Josh Rojas
The owner is claiming that they don't, yes. Has nothing to do with the front office. They're spending what has been budgeted.

White Sox agree to 1 year deal with INF Josh Rojas
The front office just doesn't have this type of money to spend unfortunately.

Corbin Burnes signs with D-backs
Sounds like Baltimore made a big offer to Burnes but he simply wanted to stay in Arizona.

White Sox hire Phil Nevin as Special Assistant in Player Development
Yeah but he's not considered one of the very top guys I have no idea. Cruz is the only reported signing. I'm sure they have more and we just don't know about them yet. This exactly.

White Sox hire Phil Nevin as Special Assistant in Player Development
The White Sox are likely pretty locked into Marco Paddy’s signing class for January 15 at this point. Players have had agreements for years at this point. Best case scenario at this point would be a team signing Sasaki and reneging on some deals. Then maybe the Sox could potentially break some agreements or use their signing money to grab players who are now left without deals. Alejandro Cruz is getting $2 million from Sox. No other deals have been reported at this point. Leaves them around $4.2 million available.

White Sox hire Phil Nevin as Special Assistant in Player Development
David Keller has the same innocuous title that Marco Paddy had but my interpretation is that he’s essentially the international director and Louis Silverio is running the academy. This hire for a coordinator is basically the #2 to Keller. They will coordinate between the area scouts and staff in the DR up to Keller and the front office. It’s a big job, but a necessary one.

CWS Acquire Reliever Cam Booser from BOS
I don’t think Booser being 32 is very relevant. It’s all about value created. He’s a lefty with good stuff, 5 years of control and 3 options. They’re hoping to optimize him under their pitching development system and flip him again at some point. I like Fajardo but I’ll trust them on pitching decisions in general going forward.
