2016 Cubs catch-all thread
QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 13, 2016 -> 06:50 AM) We are still in a Cubs thread. Talking about THE CUBS. You haven't met me, you don't know anything about me, and my fandom is none of your business. The fact that the Cubs are more compelling has nothing to do with the White Sox. And how appropriate is it that the most pathetic bully on soxtalk is literally named "Chicago White Sox"? It's like JR hired you to troll the Cubs discussion. Except, JR wouldn't do that because JR doesn't care about the Cubs because he's not delusional. Lol...I'm a bully now for calling out a poster who claims an NL team would be better off without home field advantage for no logical reason? You can't be serious right? Go ahead and talk about the Cubs as much as your little heart likes. But once you start being unobjective and letting your Cubs fandom get in the way, you're going to get called out, especially when you're doing it on a Sox message board. So either toughen up or stop making stupid arguments. If that bothers you, maybe the internet just isn't for you.

2016 Cubs catch-all thread
QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 13, 2016 -> 12:30 AM) Seriously, why would a team like the Cubs EVER want to bat their pitcher? Every game they bench a top prospect because they have to let the pitcher bat. Lol dude...you are a compete joke. Maybe because it means they're playing at home, which to anyone who actually follows sports knows provides a competative advantage. Or maybe because if their pitcher is batting, it means their AL counterpart is losing a more important hitter from their lineup or weakening a defensive position. But you're right, Javier Baez is better than Davis Ortiz or Edwin Encarcion. The only good news from this implosion is it has proven you're a Cubs fan once and for all. It's long been speculated, but you toned down your completely biased Cubs views for a while when you switched your name from AustinSox to Deadpool. But arguing against home field advantage and then being a total dick to fellow Sox fans when you get called out is the final nail in the coffin.

2016 Cubs catch-all thread
QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 10:29 PM) You're right, because if the NL loses, the Cubs get a DH to bolster their lineup for an extra game in the World Series. That's assuming a lot, of course. The Cubs couldn't really lose this game. Wow...just a terrible post. Maybe you should start trolling Red Sox & Blue Jays message boards with this nonsense and see how quickly you get ripped apart.

Todd Frazier Trade Rumor
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 08:17 AM) It was Bruce Miles, not Levine. He kind of mentioned it offhand, like "So what if Frazier got traded?", as if he had heard something and was throwing it out there. They are gonna ask Levine when he calls in today Thanks for clarifying. Will be interesting to see what Levine has to say on this.

Todd Frazier Trade Rumor
I didn't hear what Bruce had to say, but Mulley & Hanley are saying he discussed Todd Frazier rumors. If anyone heard the interview, please add the details. And I apologize if I'm totally off-base here.

Exclusive interview with Nick Hostetler - review of the 2016 draft
Awesome interview, one of the best draft-related ones I've ever read. Great job raBBit.

The Second Wildcard
QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 08:22 AM) I just don't think that would bring back much. Maybe Robertson and Duke but Frazier just creates a hole for next year and we wouldn't get much in return since he's really not having a great year besides HRs. Melky might bring something too is Sox will take on some money for a good prospect. Besides that would just be the core and guys gone after this year who have sucked anyway. If you trade these guys, you're definitely punting 2017 and probably 2018. But if we lose Frazier, Melky, & Lawrie after next year, are you really any worse off? Also, I expect this to be a seller's market and we'd have some of the more attractive chips available. A guy like Frazier isn't having a great year, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't be one of the best power bats on the trade market. There are going to be very few perfect players (if any) available.

The Second Wildcard
QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 07:35 AM) Sox should be aiming at the division. Wild Card is looking so much tougher and even though they're out 7 games Cleveland has really cooled off. With that said I don't even know who they would sell off that would bring any value besides the core guys. Might as well stand pat. If I'm selling, I'm immediately putting Frazier, Melky, Lawrie, Robertson, & Duke on the market. All of them should have some value and aren't long-term guys. I'd also consider moving Quintana, but would have to blown away to make a deal. Point is we actually have a lot of tradable assets that could help replenish the system. The major league team would be pretty awful if you moved all or most of those guys, but I think it puts you in better spot by 2018 than losing all these guys to free agency.

The Second Wildcard
4.5 games out of the second Wild Card spot at the break. With the way Toronto & Red Sox are playing right now, I'm feeling less optimistic about our chances. Honestly, I'm starting to lean towards selling, but obviously you give it a couple of weeks before you make any significant moves, buy or sell.

**7/10 Game Thread: White Sox vs Braves**
I just got to laugh at this point that we have a DH with ISO of .100. Pretty crazy we've wasted 1,200+ plate appearances on this chump.

I really hope StrykerSox enjoyed that interview. Edit: Looks like he did!

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 11:14 AM) Avi At DH again; won't even give him a day off. Saladino has as many homers in 40% of the at bats. This is something I 100% agree with you on. Saladino is better than Avi in all aspects of the game. Absolutely no reason for Avi to continue to get regular playing time. Hopefully the Avi expiriment ends as soon S Morneau is called up.

**7/9 Game Thread: White Sox vs The Not So Braves"
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 09:14 AM) Obviously a couple must win games the next two days. In the 11-5 stretch before last night, they played a few crappy games and bounced back to win 2 of 3. Gotta do it again. Yup, need to win the series and maintain our positive momentum going into the All-Star break.

**7/9 Game Thread: White Sox vs The Not So Braves"
Missed last night's game due to a wedding, but am absolutely sick to my stomach over the result. Today's game is a MUST WIN and it all starts with Quintana. He needs to be on point today. This is the Braves for f***s sake, dominate them like we should...no f***ing excuses.

BA midseason 100
Yeah, this draft is looking pretty good. I know everyone is high on our first three picks, but I really like what I'm seeing from Call & Fisher. These guys are both having strong offensive seasons in rookie ball and I believe they rank 1st & 2nd in the Pioneer League in terms of drawing walks. Throw in Curbelo and a few other interesting players and there's a lot to like from this draft class.

Carlos Gonzalez expresses interest to be traded
Everyone knows there is a hangover effect from playing at Coors. Combine that with the fact that most hitters perform better at home than on the road to begin with and it's absolutely ridiculous to simply spout off a guy's road OPS and say he's not a good hitter. Not surprising in the least it me GreenSox making this argument.

Carson Fulmer "in play" for second half
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 07:06 AM) If they're going to limit his innings they might as well give him a taste of the MLB. Agree 100%, especially when he's likely to be a sizable upgrade over Beck & Ynoa.

Falcon Heights Minnesota shooting
Just based on the video & limited facts, it seems like that cop was afraid once he heard "gun" and straight up murdered the guy when he made some sort of non-hostile movement. Maybe more info comes out, but this shooting seems like a legit killing and this officer should be behind bars for a long f***ing time.

Falcon Heights Minnesota shooting
Shoot someone in the leg while they're in a car? Greg is really the king of trolls.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Great start for Gonzalez! He's pitched much better than his numbers indicate.

Zach Burdi headed to Birmingham
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 12:42 PM) I think this should also be mentioned, from Scott merkin Fulmer last 3 starts: 19 IP, 10 H, 2 ER, 9 BB, 22 K. Fulmer has 46 strikeouts in last 35 innings. Still needs to cut down on the walks, but amazing progress nonetheless.

Avila leaves game, placed on DL. Narvaez called up
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 12:47 PM) It wasn't a spot on the 40. He is out of options, he needed to clear outright waivers to go back to Charlotte. He did not. And I honestly believe they were saving Sanchez in the event of an extended injury to one of their catchers and purposely called up Smith instead due to the short-term nature. Hard to blame them for calling up Sanchez and losing him when the guy they were hoping to fill in temporarily got injured before his first game. The Sox did nothing wrong here and actually were proactive about having catching depth in AAA. Just some bad luck that has put them in a bind now.
