QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 07:55 PM) Needed innings from Dylan, not mad at Robin. Taking out your starter in the fourth inning is tough business. Shame on Dylan for throwing over the middle of the plate so much. Hope this is the last we see of him this year. We need innings but not at the expense of losing the game. We have a free roster spot and can have a multi-inning reliever as soon as tomorrow. Also, we're talking about one additional out at the most, since there was no way in hell Axelrod was coming out for the 5th. Made sense to get Santiago in there against Harper & LeRoche the next inning.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 07:51 PM) He made no attempt to get in front of it and keep it there. None. I'll agree he should have made a better effort, but it was still a wild pitch going towards the feet of the batter.

QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 07:47 PM) defensive excellence behind the plate Hard to blame that on Flowers, it looked like it was going to hit Harper in the foot.

I would bring in Santiago to face Harper.

Honestly, replacing Beckham with Gillespie in the bottom third of the lineup might work out for us. Adding some solid contact between Viciedo & Flowers can only be a good thing.

QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 07:24 PM) I dont know what the hell that was. But Ill take it. It had double play written all over it and yet it somehow worked out. Hopefully a good omen of things to come.

QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 07:18 PM) Well they no idea how to use him out of the pen and haven't since last year. So I don't know what either are thinking. Not agreeing with them, just what I've inferred from interviews and articles about Hector. The real question is if they don't go with Santiago next time the 5 spot comes up then who do they call up? Rienzo?

4/11 Games
QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 06:56 PM) Hawkins 10 k's in 4+ games. Call him up, he'll fit right in with the rest of the team! Honestly though, A+ was an aggressive assignment. Not surprised to see some contact issues out the gate.

QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 07:13 PM) This is all on Robin. Dylan Axelrod is NOT a Major League pitcher. Hector Santiago should have been the #5 starter since the beginning. His ignorance and stubbornness is going to cost the team another win. I think it's more Cooper than Robin. I think Cooper loves having Santiago's versatility in the bullpen.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 07:08 PM) I don't know if anything will work, but that would be a good start. This team looks pretty brutal so far. We definitely need Viciedo & Flowers to hit better for starters. If that doesn't happen, we can write this season goodbye. Still way too early to give up on either of them.

If I were the Nationals I'd be running on Axelrod all night.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 07:02 PM) Innings like that--that's the difference between winning and losing in a lot of games. This team is short on talent. Way short. I don't think it's a talent issue, I think the lineup is simply constructed wrong. Dunn should be batting 5th, Viciedo 6th, Gillespie 7th, Flowers, & Ramirez 9th.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 06:48 PM) We are at a massive disadvantage now. Yeah, and we're at an advantage when we have Dunn in the lineup vs whoever they put in at DH. I'm all for having a DH in both leagues, but until then, most NL teams won't have a worthy DH option on their roster. The current method is more fair than making the NL use a DH in all interleague games.

QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 06:45 PM) The DH should be mandatory in any Interleague Game. Too much of a disadvantage to NL teams IMO.

QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 06:43 PM) The Sox have to lead the league in RBI Groundouts haha That's the only way we can manufacture runs!
