  1. I don't think Oakland is ready to sell on Reddick. They likely want to keep him and contend in 2016. Unless they're getting Trayce, that doesn't make sense. Could see the Sox trying to get one of the A's many young, back of the rotation arms for some pitching depth.
  2. Of course it'd be fine with you, those guys have no value. That would be a fleecing.
  3. Oh I was thinking Quentin. Not to hang that mantle on him or anything. Eaton is intense but a goofball.
  4. In interviews he seems intense and cerebral, which reminds me of another west-division player the Sox bought low on.
  5. I'll say Danish and Jacob May. Gotta give to get.
  6. Preller is on a short leash this year, so things are going to be less crazy. The Dodgers are definitely making a splash though.
  7. If they could get Frazier for EJ and pieces that would be even better. Not sure the Reds and Sox match up that well though. I like Upton but lets not pretend this is a done deal. Lots of teams need OF.
  8. Lawrie was regarded as above average defensively but UZR hated him last year for some reason. He should be average to above. Upton isn't great but as long as he is playing a corner he should be fine. Huge upgrade over Avi in pretty much all regards. I would guess signing Upton moves TNT to 4th OF. He would probably see a lot of late inning action and starts against lefties (either as DH or LF, with Melky DHing)
  9. I don't think the offense has to be as good as you guys seem to think. Replacing Avi (83 wRC+, -1.1 fWAR) with JUp (projected 121 wRC+, 3 fWAR for 2016) is a huge difference. Even getting Lawrie vs the crap we trotted out there in 2015 is probably a ~3 WAR swing. This team could be pretty good as long as the stars show up.
  10. depends on the contract. if they lose the comp pick but get upton for 100MM or less then i'm absolutely fine with it. Like, 5/95 - 5/100 if the sox lose the amateur draft pick one might expect them to go hard for international players next July 2nd? just a thought
  11. Yeah i'd like that return. Cubs get a proven closer, Sox get a guy that has had ups and downs but loads of talent and on a reasonable contract.
  12. Not so much because of their relative success levels as their respective years of control. I doubt EJ is ever more than a 1.5-2 WAR pitcher in any given year, but he is pre arb. Don't trade those guys for mediocre arb eligible guys.
  13. No thanks to EJ for Lawrie swap. He is bad and trending in the wrong direction.
  14. O'Day is probably worth that but why would the Orioles, a team that doesn't project to be very good, dish out for him?
  15. The NL West is so perfect for Shark its comedic. Good pickup for the Giants.
  16. I have a feeling they either trade for a big starter (Q!) or bring in another FA like Chen or Shark.
  17. I'd like to see the dump truck full of money AZ had to give him to sign, if only to know how many axles it has.
  18. Yeah I predict that Rick Somebody leaves with a 3B and SS in his pocket
  19. Zunino is still young, but worse offensively than Flowers. He is very good on defense, however.
  20. Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes Right after Tyler Flowers was non-tendered, scout: "He should tell them thank you. Bet he gets more than his arb raise in this market." This is the main reason that it makes no sense. Chances are excellent that the guy they replace Flowers with is either worse or similarly bad.
  21. This is all so weird. I guess i'll reserve judgement until it becomes known who is being added.
  22. I guess the Astros are trying to trade Conger, who isn't good, but would be cheap. Don't really see many upgrades available.
