  1. Do the Sox feel like they'd have any real shot at signing Maitan? I realize its far off but it seems like some other org is always able to outspend them.
  2. Lots of talk about blowing up the Sox but we won't really know Hahn's Plahns until the first domino falls.
  3. Alexei is entering the end stage of his career, so it is very possible we don't know what's "like him" anymore.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 08:29 PM) I've just made my peace with it and expect it. I'm just in "what can we do long term that is the best for the franchise" mode and at least I get to enjoy Sale. Bingo. Also I am hoping, not expecting mind you, but hoping that this is like lancing a boil, and that this season will lead to a very thorough re-evaluation of scouting and development personnel and practices.
  5. As much as it pains me to absorb another Danks implosion, Balta is 100% correct on this.
  6. That's the highest take on Engel i've seen, especially since he's stunk like rotting fish in May/June.
  7. Carroll isn't the #5, Danks is. Sale Q Smarch Rodon Danks Carroll is the long reliever, which, ok. Johnson will toil in AAA until a spot opens up, either by moving Smarch or Danks.
  8. The Blue Jays gave up 7 runs in the top of the second today. By the end of the 4th the game was tied. Meanwhile the Sox are down 1-0 and it already feels like its over.
  9. Lets sacrifice him to our gooooooood
  10. That's right now, mind you, and its not a realistic proposal Again, re-assess after 2016, and it becomes more realistic.
  11. Schwarber / Russell / McKinney/ a couple pitchers That would probably do it for me.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 08:52 PM) Well, Amaro Jr. is crazy I don't really believe the rumors about him asking for the toppest prospects in return for Paps. Hamels, maybe, but he is their best chip, they have to nail that trade. He is a bad GM mostly because he signed bad players to bad contracts. W/r/t trades, I don't buy the crazy talk.
  13. Robertson has been quite good, but so has Papelbon the last few years, and he is still a Phillie. I think the return for Robertson would be slight. A couple B / 45 FV guys.
  14. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 08:44 PM) And he should be. You don't trade Sale, your best pitcher, because the rest of the team stinks In this case the Sox wouldn't be trading him because the rest of the team stinks, per se, but because the rest of the team stinks AND the org is incapable of developing or signing improvements. A drastic solution to a drastic problem.
  15. Hahn should look into trading him this offseason. I don't think he should trade Sale, but he should see what kind of offers he gets. After 2016, if the Sox are still staffed by corpses with hats, then yeah, trade him.
  16. Amidst the carnage, beyond the wailing and gnashing of teeth, the one thing that truly, like, TRULY baffles me is how Buddy Bell still has a job.
  17. Yeah, fire Robin, fire Steverson, fire Hahn and buy out JR. Let Kenny walk to Toronto, and put Buddy Bell on a boat to China. You might see some changes, or you might not.
  18. I don't see how he hasn't earned at least another chance.
  19. EJ 11 Ks 2BB 0ER thru 5 88 pitches not the most efficient but dayum
  20. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 11:24 AM) I would take prime Adam Dunn's bat in a heartbeat. If Gallo is capable of playing an average 3b and hits like Dunn did from ages 21-30 you have an incredibly valuable player. Yeah not sure if his answer was facetious or not but Gallo is an extremely valuable property. He isn't enough by himself but as the headliner in a package of player, that's pretty pretty pretty good
  21. If the Rangers wanted to buy they could put together a nice package based around Gallo.
  22. Far too optimistic IMO, trading Quintana is almost a necessity as you say, but I think the toll on the rotation will be greater than you state. I also am not sure how much of a return he would bring given his "underrated" status.
  23. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 05:21 PM) The Sox have invested way too much money/time to do a complete rebuild at this point. You have to keep your controllable and franchise players and then try to build around them. My point is that trading bad players does not bring a good return. Nothing gained from a salary dump of Alexei or trading a marginal player like Gillaspie is going to contribute much going forward.
  24. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 05:19 PM) the biggest let down which in my opinion has done more harm is Eaton, LaRoche and Flowers. the fiasco at 2b could have been absorb if everybody else was hitting. even conor batting at what he has hasn't help. Eaton should bounce back, he has already been better in May/June. He might just be an inconsistent player. I don't even think LaRoche is that disappointing. He's been fine. Flowers, well, he isn't good.
  25. Anyways the answer is no, there is no way for the Sox to get a proper value in return for Sale.* *edit - at this time. Get back to me after the 2016 season.
