  1. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 09:15 PM) You'll be wrong. It was reported that a big reason why he signed so soon and for a reasonable price was because of big league promises. I'd be somewhat surprised if he was up before September, but I think a spot on the 40-man and his MLB debut this year is more likely than not. No problem, I'm probably more shocked than wrong as it seems like such a long shot, but you are right if he accepted slot money instead of holding out for his major league clock to get started earlier.
  2. I just do not see anyway he gets placed on the 40 man roster and called up this year.
  3. Did we officially credit Hawk with the term Pick to Click? During the Home Run Derby they used the phrase quite often. Guys on the MLB network are very sarcastic every time they go to a live look in for the Sox and Hawk is on the call.....................Be strong Hawk, you rock!!
  4. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 11:43 AM) I'm an in-towner and I hate Hawk. He's an embarrassing buffoon. Stone is fantastic though. Hawk is great, his call at the 2005 World Series parade was awesome!! GQ must not have interviewed Catfish Hunter for its survey. Hawk loves this team and that is fine by me.
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 09:18 AM) Beckham over-thinks things too much. The #2 spot would mess with him too much and give him too much pressure, Agreed, keep him where he is comfortable right now. Vizquel has been in the 2 hole when he has been playing.
  6. Are there rumblings of Teahan going on a rehab assignment this week or is he still not ready for that. Not sure how the the roster will shake out when Teahan comes back if there are no trades that affect the major league roster, who goes?
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) We have the 5th best record in the AL now and the 7th best record in baseball. This is just great!!! Let's keep it up!!
  8. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 10:50 AM) I've never seen a manager give his best players so many days off. You'd almost think Rios and Konerko had some clause in their contract where they need to sit one game every week with the frequency Ozzie rests them. Remember those years when Ozzie started all of those bad, rag tag line ups on Sundays that drove us crazy!!!
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 10:50 AM) I can't find any news on Grienke missing the start. Was this mentioned on the radio? Greinke scratched; Lerew to start in finale fan comments (0)print this pagee-mail this pagepost on facebook By Dick Kaegel / MLB.com 07/11/10 12:11 PM ET CHICAGO -- Royals ace Zack Greinke was scratched from his start on Sunday against the White Sox because of discomfort in the back of his right shoulder. Greinke felt a pull in the shoulder as he fielded a squeeze bunt off the bat of Jack Wilson in the third inning last Tuesday night in Seattle. He stayed in the game and pitched seven innings of a 3-2 victory. Royals manager Ned Yost said the injury is not believed to be serious. "We've been looking at it for two days. He still feels a little something in the back of his shoulder," Yost said. "He could pitch, but with the All-Star break coming, we're going to back him up one start. I'm probably being overcautious." Greinke is still scheduled to start against in the first game after the break, next Friday night against Oakland at Kauffman Stadium. Anthony Lerew, skipped over in the last turn of the rotation, stepped in to make Sunday's start against the White Sox.
  10. Real nice first couple of games for Wilkins, wonder what took him so long to sign.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 10:56 AM) Well, I finally got something right. I said B. Loux would have been a health risk with our first pick, and he failed his physical! I was so worried when BA stated at least three times the Sox were showing interest in him, that is ugly but good for us!!
  12. Do we all think that this is the last year on the Southside for Paulie? Hawk and Stone keep saying this is a Gold Glove year for Konerko so I'm not sure if KW brings him back, probably a discussion for another thread.
  13. Hawk can now get off the ledge on this, even though he was totally right.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 12:44 AM) Immunity from what? He's just another now in a long line of pitchers to get hurt and probably never be the same. It's sad, really, but bad business for baseball to keep giving these guys mega buck deals. I don't know if they would say, but don't you think KW has an insurance policy on Peavy in case he gets a career ending injury? I'm not sure how all that business works, but pretty common in the NFL.
  15. Should the Sox just release Linebrink, he seems destined to never pitch again.
  16. This is so ugly, but we still have the lead, was hoping Thornton did have to pitch tonight, but now we need him.
  17. Come on Pierre, pick up a run here.
  18. I eat crow, Jones just homered.
  19. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:20 PM) Yes. KW needs to get serious and cut Andruw loose, Gatrell or DeAza are better options right now.
  20. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:42 PM) Peavy is a fitness machine. Penny is not even close to being in the kind of shape Jake is in. Nor is he anywhere near the competitor Peavy is. I think this could help Peavy get healthy for the stretch run, let's just hope Hudson can hold strong.
  21. I think Peavy is out until after the Minnesota series, maybe misses 1-2 starts.
  22. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:08 PM) Just reported - Right lat muscle. Best news we could get. Really, that is great news.
  23. Does anyone think Escobar makes it to Birmingham this year?
  24. QUOTE (GREEDY @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 09:32 PM) I couldn't tell you what happened, the game is on WCIU. I HATE THE U
  25. Still worried about Weaver's lifetime 4-0 record with an 0.52 career ERA against the Sox.
