The TLR Manager Thread
Hell yeah. It's astounding how many baseball people are Team Yermin on this one, further demonstrating how out of touch TLR is.

5/18 White Sox @ Twins 6:40 PM
How foolish of you to not expect our boy Jake Lamb to be batting second! Mercy.

Yep, you see that in hockey - one guy wants to start a fight to fire up his team, but the other guy needs to accept. You see it more often now where the player from the team that is already cruising and doesn't need a spark will turn down the fight. And that's the difference with baseball - we don't get a chance to be like "no thanks", they'll just drill a player if they want to.

5/17 White Sox (Keuchel) v. Twins (Happ) Thread
Good reminder that this was our roster in 2019. We're just two years removed from an outfield that featured names like Cordell, Skole, Palka, Tilson, and Jay. Two years. We're pretty spoiled that we only have to complain about 2-3 spots on the roster.

The Rookies
Tom Verducci just did an extended dive on Yermin Mercedes on MLBN, drawing up comps. He compared Yerm to the following: Josh Donaldson's ability to crush the fastball Jose Canseco's aggressiveness and power with less than two strikes Paul Molitor's ability to put it in play on two strikes Yogi Berra's ability to hit anything "from the nose to the toes" Lot of high praise from Verducci and tall comparisons. Obviously still "young" in his pro career to live up to those laudits, but awesome that he's getting the attention and recognition for what he's doing.

5/14: Kansas City @ Chicago White Sox - Game 1 of DH 2:10 PM CDT
Wait, did the Sox just do Cleveland's "run scored Mario coin" sound effect when they recorded the first out? I didn't hear it on the K and the bumper music played after the last out, maybe I'm I'm just hearing things. Certainly hope we're not using Cleveland's schtick, though.

That's a White Sox SWEEEEEEP!
5-out save for Liam. Yermin pinch-hit clutch. Timmy first pitch dinger swagger. Billy Hamilton doing Billy Hamilton things. Sweep the damn Twins. LFG!

Watching on MLBN where they have Amsinger, Harold Reynolds, and Plesac just watching the game and commenting on it. Harold sucks eggs in general, but he was harping on Keuchel for leaving it up too much before that Cruz AB. Think he's got a point. Be really curious to see if Keuchel can keep it down moving forward.

Cease challenging Cruz on a heater at the top of the zone and wins. Sexy.

Yoelkis Cespedes
So my question on this (and I know visa issues are probably very complicated), how was Cespedes able to play in the spring training B games but now can't play in Birmingham? Based on the earlier points, I just assumed it had something to do with having a visa to be paid a minor league salary not being sorted out so he could still play in ST for free but preventing him from joining the Barons as a paid player (taxes, etc). But now I'm going back to how were others not able to play in ST but he was*, but still can't play other games? (*I swear I remember seeing photos of him playing stateside in the spring unless I'm suffering from a major Mandela effect.)

And be smart about how and when to pitch to Cruz.

Sox #1 in the majors in run differential
I think you're grossly underestimating the shelf life of a MLB manager. Even if Detroit burns under his watch, he'll get another shot... and another... and another. Might be a stint as a bench coach in there, but teams love "World Series experience" on the resume of managerial retreads.

Sox #1 in the majors in run differential
Thanks for sharing this, helps some folks see that our run differential is made up of both a good offense AND good pitching. But this graphic is also killing me that the "best" quadrant is bottom-right, not positioned in the top-right. Creator needs to flip that X axis!

Grandal Vs. McCann
I can't remember if that "catchers on one leg" argument was in this thread is the Collins one, but thought this was pertinent

That's a shutout in KC White Sox Winner
Here's to getting back to playing baseball and winning games so we don't need to worry about signing Pujols anymore
