The bolded part is it for me. We've had two years of people on the board saying how Burger has given up, doesn't care about baseball, disappeared from the face of the earth, just wants to eat his signing bonus, etc. and written him off as a person, let alone a player. Just goes to show how much we don't see or hear about these players in what they're truly doing to get better as a player and person. Just because we didn't get live video of his at-home workouts doesn't mean the guy has stopped caring about the sport. We're quick to judge these kids, I'm guilty of that as well, but it serves to show that the *professionals that work for the team* see and know a whole lot more than we do.

I imagine combination of young and inconsistent (Robert) or returning from an illness we don't even understand (Moncada) hurts some of the other player projections as well.

One of their beat writers was on MLBN last week talking about how their FO is excited about the core they're building and want to make moves to be competitive this year. I took that as they weren't going to trade Marco Gonzalez, like many here have suggested, but it could also mean they seriously do want to add players like Cruz.

Update on Buehrle

Is anyone excited to have to face Spencer Torkelson in Detroit for years to come? No? That's how I feel about Vaughn. Vaughn could've been that 1-1 if he was a few inches taller. I'm in no hurry to save the Central years of headaches by trading him away.

And if you sign Cruz, that gives us more time to try Vaughn out at 3B/OF in the minors for a season without worrying about rushing a timeline to bring him up if the Collins/Mercedes DH experiment fails early. I buy it.
