I'm pretty certain that Hahn could have gotten Ethier instead of LaRoche. He made his choice. We'll see who has the better year. Ethier probably hits better, not as much power, plays outfield, first base, DH, more speed, younger, makes Viciedo expendable, extra year, loss of a prospect, better looking. I'd have taken Ethier by a nose.

When Cargo signed that huge contract, he was coming off a really good year and he was still young. A five tool guy if there ever was one. His agent was Scott Boras, but Cargo pretty much negotiated that contract on his own. 'Negotiate' might be an exaggeration, because I think it was simply offered to him by the Rockies (GM was Dan O'Dowd), and Cargo took it. Boros argued against it, wanting to take him to free agency. It came on the heels of the Tulo signing, IIRC. The rest is history.

Why expose Sierra while keeping Trayce Thompson and J Mitchell? Sierra did hit .276 for Sox. Don't get it, not that it's the most important transaction of the year or anything. Roster now at 37.
