  1. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 11:02 AM) "If they're going to include both Martes and Tucker, there needs to be something else coming back in addition to Quintana (a ptbnl rookie league prospect, Robertson with salary relief, Jennings, or Jones). Otherwise, I think Chicago will have a hard time beating a package that includes 1 of Martes/Tucker plus 3 fringe top 100 types (Fisher, Perez, Whitley, Paulino, Cameron, Moran, Reed, etc.)." From an Astros fan^^^ I think this is somewhat indicative for the gap the exists between the Sox asking price and what is being offered. Quintana is not being traded for Martes or Tucker plus some second tier prospects. Martes AND Tucker would be a minimum starting point to headline a package, plus substantially more would have to be included. Sox would likely accept a Martes + Tucker + Musgrove/Reed package Anything less, why bother from the Sox point of view? Martes/Tucker/Reed/Fisher/Perez is what that dude seems to be proposing and I'd take that in a heartbeat.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 10:29 AM) Not to remain totally negative, but a.) Sox are going to get no hit this season, maybe more than once. b.) I expect this to be our worst offensive team in the modern era. Those of you rooting for losses are gonna get them. Seriously, with our bullpen as bad as it is and our offense on track to be the worst in the AL, are we gonna lost 115 games? I think 100 losses is a given, how many more is the question. Not with Abreu, Saladino, Anderson and Frazier. Infield is stacked. Just spend, spend, spend

QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 10:22 AM) Studying his stats I see this guy has no power and doesn't walk much. He sounds like a player from the 1960s. No offense at all, good glove. Just win, baby!
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 10:09 AM) Dude.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 10:07 AM) This guy is still on our team? And we are rebuilding? LOL. Get rid of him ASAP please Mr. Hahn. Dude.
  6. Trump administration trying to block Sally Yates from testifying on Russia. Lol

Considering he fell off the FutureSox list, any signs of production from May should be a bonus. So let's just sit back and see what happens.
  8. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 27, 2017 -> 10:42 PM) In any rebuild, you're going to acquire assets that just bust for whatever reason. It's just the nature of the beast. It's why prospects are called prospects and not "Future Superstar". I think many people have to realize that the Cubs rebuild went way better than expected. They pretty much hit on everyone which I can't really recall ever happening. With that said, we are 4 months into a rebuild and it's asinine to me that fans can be calling for the heads of the FO. It really is a testament to Theo. The Cubs rebuild started with Castro, Samardzija and Rizzo. The Sox are lucky in that they get to start their rebuild with Q, Rodon, Anderson, Moncada, Giolito, Kopech, Lopez, and Fulmer.
  9. HAHN MAKING MOVES But also good for Jacob May
  10. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 27, 2017 -> 08:43 PM) Why exactly is the majority of this thread about politics instead of Giolito? I purposely avoid the filibuster section because I come here to talk Sox...not to have to go through tons of political posts and see people bickering at each other. SS2K5's initial point was relevant - to assume that government regulations wouldn't effect the taxes of a Sox sale would be impossible. But, politics is done in this thread now. No baiting, no bumping the politics, etc. That's the thread warning. Talk about Giolito or it gets locked.
  11. Funny thing is if WBC version of Q is here from the get go, he'd command an equal or more Sale package at the deadline if a starter goes down.
  12. Uh, guys. Buster if we're gonna continue this.
  13. Based on the "Moncada isn't ready, we should have gotten Benintendi, Moncada's a bust" posts from barely a few weeks ago have been replaced with "future MVP, future HOF, he's got everything" I expect Giolito to be the 2017 Cy Young favorite in about two weeks
  14. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Mar 25, 2017 -> 11:40 AM) If The choice is between Anthony Swarzak or Tommy Kahnle, you really can't go right. But if we add in Luebke, we can go left.
  15. Porter Jr. officially going to Mizzou Robin Pingeton is now the GOAT program builder - fixed the women's team and now the men's team.
  16. The GOP is that guy in basketball who demands more touches and blames his teammates for the team not doing well. Then when the other players get traded they're like "oh s***, getting the ball in the hoop is hard."
  17. QUOTE (daggins @ Mar 24, 2017 -> 12:15 PM) They already project better than Cleveland, even with no bounceback from Keuchel and average seasons from McHugh. Until one of those guys flops, or McCullers gets hurt, they don't really need Q. Yeah, but how are they holding their own against the Red Sox?
  18. QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 08:43 AM) The peak of the tourney to me was the first inning of the Netherlands-Puerto Rico semifinal game. You had two huge plays from Yadier Molina to make the first two outs and the atmosphere was just insane. Then Wladimir Balentien, who it seemed like was able to win games by sheer force of will, hits a bomb and just goes ham and as he watches it leave the yard. That was the most fun, but somewhere Ian Kinsler was s***ting himself watching all that disrespect. That's also how you do it - don't like the emotion shown by the other team? Get them back, don't complain about passion.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 12:28 PM) That is pretty much an ideal package for what the Sox need. And before anyone says it's too rich for Quintana, here would be the Sale-trade equivalent Moncada > Swanson Kopech > Maitan Basabe = Acuna Diaz
  20. My ideal Atlanta package - Maitan, Allard, Acuna and Riley. There's no Moncada or Kopech in that group, so I have no qualms asking for their 3, 4, 8 and 13 prospects in their system.
  21. Glad US won, but Kinsler better not be celebrating.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 08:41 PM) Okay Q after tonight's start would love to see us redraft Montas de Oca Didn't watch it but that stat line doesn't scream out at me - thoughts?
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 07:08 PM) This racist "play the right way" s*** is the worst. Is Brian McCann team captain? http://deadsp.in/NqCpZWe UNWRITTEN RULES!
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 01:49 PM) They have a lot of positional talent beyond the top guys too. Fisher, Reed, Davis, and Sierra are guys that stand out to me as well. With no Giolito/Moncada level headliner, I'd say we'd need to get Martes, Tucker, Fisher +
