2006 Cardinals? They won 83 games. Guess they didn’t get the memo that they weren’t supposed to win. Believe what you want though. If you want to deal with absolutes, that’s on you. Any team has a chance if the chips fall into place - especially with the new playoff structure. I’d rather be a flawed team trying to win than one that doesn’t.
The Phillies last year snuck into the playoffs and went farther than anyone predicted. With the new playoff structure, all you have to do is get in and hit a hot streak at the right time. Sox are a flawed team and poorly run, but they have a chance to win in this weak division. Hope around this team is bleak, but it’s not unreasonable to think that they get some great bounce backs and we see more of 2021 than 2022 levels of production.
You don’t think they could net you 1 WAR? That seems really bullish. I think Romy and Sosa could get you close to whatever Frazier does this upcoming season if given the chance. Frazier is just a boring slap hitter with one outlier year in 2021 that the Pirates took advantage of at the deadline. I don’t see him as being worth $8M.
TOR is in the same position as the Braves. They have 3 catchers with Jansen, Kirk, and Moreno. They *could* move one to solidify their pen. Supposedly they asked for Helsley from the Cards for Jansen.
Maybe they have a little and also plan on moving some of those BP arms. With how the market has shaped up, maybe guys like Diekman and Kelly have some value after all? We all know Hendriks and Graveman do.
So we have Eloy, Moncada, Robert, Anderson, and Lynn? I'm not a fan of so many key guys going into this thing. You'd thing with a new manager in a make-or-break year these guys would want to remain with the team.
