  1. Yeah, I think Swanson was a PTBNL during the season he was drafted. But I’m going off memory so I might be wrong.
  2. But having these lucrative deals right off the bat is going to help out those mediocre arms out there. They aren’t going to discount themselves if non-closers are getting the money Suarez got.
  3. I wouldn’t mind Lowe, depending on cost. I honestly don’t think the Sox match up all that well with the Rays though. Rays have a 40-Man crunch, and some of the Sox top trade chips need to be added to the 40-Man. Jose Rodriguez and Bryan Ramos. They’d have to deal arms to get a deal done.
  4. Great. Sox aren’t signing s%*#.
  5. It probably helped for sure. I don't think his decision to bulk up and wreck his mechanics helped much either. I've said before any chance at a competitive 2023 Sox team involves him being successful/good. Sox aren't in rushed position to move him for peanuts as they can net the draft pick if he walks. No reason to accept anything less than that value if he is on the block.
  6. Jerry would need to be dead before Cease hits the market for this to actually have a shot of happening.
  7. Well, he can't possibly do any worse than the s%*# show we saw last year.
  8. She's a real person - whether she actually hears stuff is another thing all together. I don't recall her ever breaking anything.
  9. Not entire true. Don’t forget his FB saw significant velo drop compared to 2021. Losing a full 1 mph is a pretty significant disadvantage to how his stuff plays up in the zone and shortens the separation between his FB and CH.
  10. Extending the QO to Gio at the end of this season and getting the pick is probably equal or more value to what you could possibly get right now for him. Think what the Cubs did with Contreras. He’s still more valuable to this team than anywhere else right now, and you still have the option of flipping him at the deadline if the team stinks. I don’t think a competitive 2023 Sox team exists without Gio on this team (along with a decent bounce back from him).
  11. I think Gio to the west coast was all but a guarantee to happen at some point. But he signed his future away with the team the minute he asked for that extra cash last season (plus him being the team union rep). Pretty JR isn’t going to let that stand. We all know he’d rather be right than win.
  12. It's nice there's actual movement for a change - even if it is a trickle. Kershaw is one of those guys that cannot be allowed to play for any other team other than the Dodgers.
  13. Except you wouldn’t be filling a hole, you just be creating a new one. The Sox bullpen is far from a position of strength. Trading one of the better arms is a bad idea. If you trade Hendricks, then just blow the team up. It’s risky enough having to roll the dice and bank on rebounds from Moncada/Grandal - and then adding Kelly and Diekman into being depended upon in late innings.
  14. This might be the funniest thing I’ve ever read. It belongs in the Onion, not the Athletic.
  15. Gio has to be on Jerry’s personal vendetta list. Wouldn’t shock me at all.
  16. That’s good. They were very effective, no reason to fix what isn’t broke.
  17. Rodon, Kopech and Sale had way higher innings base than Crochet. His situation will be tougher because he has never had their level of past workload. Doesn’t mean it can’t be done, but I would bet it takes way longer to get him into that position and we don’t even know if he’d be at all effective in that role.
  18. Yeah I don’t think I’d want to part with the little talent the Sox have for a bounce back candidate.
  19. I didn’t say he didn’t have value. I was a big fan of his a few years ago. But a lot of people will look at that sub .200 average and freak out adding it into the mix with Moncada and Yaz. It certainly would fit the bill as a buy-low and hope for a bounce back to career norms.
  20. I certainly hope not. You can easily find the same level or lack thereof production out of a league minimum guy.
  21. Grisham had an abysmal year. Depends on how much or willing SD is to move him.
  22. Cespedes likely takes Engels roles if at all - and I don't think he is anything even close to being ready yet. Sox will be lucky to get anything more than a 4th OF'er out of him.
  23. This is a great surprise. I honestly didn't think he would ever realistically consider it. Sox need go get a lefty bat now. No excuses.
