With Arroyo, Schilling and Wakefield starting the 1st 3 games, the Red Sox are gonna be in trouble pitching wise. We've just got to score enough runs for Count, MB and FG to work with.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 11:35 PM) Blum is more defensively flexible than Gload. Gload's a little better hitter than Blum. With the emphasis this team puts on defense, I have to go with Blum. He gives Ozzie more options to make changes. With Blum being able to field in almost every infield position, he's always going to get the benefit of the doubt over Ross Gload, to the horror of many here.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 01:14 AM) From the Trib I bet a lot of hitters are like that against Millwood this season anyway. He's going to get a very nice deal from someone this off-season, maybe Detroit.

Marte's a lefty and with the previous success he's had, there's no way he's not going to be on the playoff roster. I too wouldn't mind leaving Viz off and leaving El Duque and B-Mac on, but I don't think that's going to happen, plus Viz has been good for the 2nd half of the season, no real reason for him not to be there. It's a good problem to have really.

Bruuuuuuuuuuuce;

Great pitching and fielding there.

Gimme Borch over Timo as a 4th OF next season. Most likely Anderson though.

Good for Joe.

Ugh, Brian's gotta do better than that.

I always liked the old school 90's jerseys for most of the NBA teams, the Pacers are no exception there.

Nice post there smalls, good to know that this division win is bringing happiness to people in more ways than one in terms of remembering loved ones and the connection to Baseball, Family and the White Sox. As for my Dad, I've slowly got him interested in the White Sox a little more, everyday I talked him in Phoenix he usually asked if they won or not. When I see him at the airport tomorrow morning, it'll be good to tell him that we actually clinched the division and didn't "choke".

Aaron Rowand in San Diego made a few big plays. The 3 run HR off Hoffman in the 10th, and that diving catch he made to save Garland or Politte's ass, can't remember 100%. Joe Crede's HR against Cleveland ended up being crucial as well in the standings side of things.

QUOTE(Mercy! @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) In the Small World Department, since I just recently heard about her from a mention on this thread: Australian singer Missy Higgins is doing an in-store performance tomorrow, October 1 at 2:00 PM at Borders Bookstore, 830 N Michigan Ave, Chicago. She also has a regular gig at the Congress Theatre later that day. Yeah Missy's trying to crack the US market now like a lot of other Aussie female singers. Should go check it out, quite an unique voice she's got.

I'd love to play Boston in the 1st round. They could have Arroyo start game one, Schilling game two, and Tim Wakefield game 3. With how bad their bullpen has been, they're ripe for the picking.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) I want Carl to be in the lineup everyday. And below the #4 hitter. Ever since he's been moved from the #3 spot, he's been hitting a lot better. We just need a Rowand or Dye to step up and produce in the #3 spot now, I don't think A.J is the man for the job, since he pretty much swings at anything.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) Just for you: Doing a bit of that right now Flash?

QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 11:00 AM) so in the first episode they kill one of the two main characters(Vaughn). Why?? Ben Affleck.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 12:49 PM) If the above happens, I like our chances. A lot. Count has been untouchable recently, MB has been better at home this year IIRC, Garcia has been ridiculous on the road, and Garland is probably good for a quality start at the very least. Buerhle definitely needs to start game 2 with Garcia starting game 3. Let's just hope Ozzie sees the light.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX DIVISION WINNER!!!!
DBAHO replied to AddisonStSox's topic in 2005 Season in Review
It's been a long, long time, and there were some bumps on the way, some bigger than others, but it's finally happened. We didn't choke, we didn't give it away, we did it, and now we've got a 1 in 8 chance of winning the world series. To all the players, the coaching staff, and KW for constructing this team into a division winner. Let's hope they can go further now, and aren't just satisfied with this accomplishment alone. -
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) What's a good offer, though? What do they have to offer us? Cano ain't going anywhere. Would the Sox have interest in Giambi -- if, of course, they ate a whole lot of the contract? I'm just throwing stuff out there right now. I agree that if a good offer comes along for Rowand, Kenny should bite. Even after this 'poor' season, his stock is still going to be pretty damn high. Could make it a 3 way deal, but I'd be interested in Chen - Ming Wang.
