  1. Vultures within the media won't be very happy when Cheney refuses to elaborate upon this issue. He'll enter an 'undisclosed location' for several weeks while the press corps soils themselves. Won't be any different than his usual routine. I find it funny that these drunk allegations have begun. If it were true, and there were witnesses present (which is obvious), what's preventing one from leaking information? Or even Whittingson himself? He's an old man, and may have reservations about lying. If you accept such a possibility, now you're entering the realm of absurd conspiracy theories. Let me try to cover several right here stemming from Cheney's hunting excursion: -The Bush administration has threatened anyone from coming forward which could collaborate drunk story. (Include some nonsense rivaling Enemy of the State) -Any major event within the immediate future at home or abroad will be a distraction. Similar to Republican's alledging Kosovo bombings were to avert attention from Monica. -EXPECT A TERROR ATTACK SOON. EDIT: I'm sure someone will say, "why should he care about lying--he's a lawyer," so I'll preempt that. Point is, you can't be sure--if you're Cheney,etc.--he wouldnt tell the truth.
  2. Kip picked a rather mild picture to post when compared to the others featured on the website. It's obvious prisoners where physically abused. One in particualr--the third featured in the link below--makes you wonder what the hell happened. Blood splatter from that could either be caused by banging someones head in the ground or shooting them. http://smh.com.au/photogallery/2006/02/15/...970.html?page=3
  3. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 02:10 PM) I guess he has a mid-90's fastball, or at least he did before his Tommy John surgery. No surprise once again -- good stuff, horrible control. Seems like a trend with all the lefties KW has acquired. Not a bad gamble. I hope someone exceeds expecatations and performs well. Don't want someone with a 6.00ERA during Spring Training on our squad because he was merely the best of the crappy selection.
  4. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 02:07 PM) the kournikova process has begun... Kournikova's niche (hot tennis girl modeling) has been completely overtaken. There's really no more use for her. Sharapova is better looking AND a better tennis player. More marketing possibilities.
  5. QUOTE(Reddy @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 01:59 PM) i dont logically see how that is AT ALL possible i hate cheney, i hate bush, but there is absolutely nothing in this issue (aside from just letting the news trickle down instead of coming out and saying it) that can be used for political gain on either side - or at least nothing that should be. any argument to the contrary would have little to no basis. You don't need to make huge political connection; such as relating Cheney's incompotent shooting with the mishandling of the Iraq War. It's an embarrassing story for the administration. All you need is to bring it up--or allude to it. Whittington's condition negates its usefulness right now, anyways. If he weren't encountering "silent heart attacks", I would consider it open for pouncing.
  6. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 01:37 PM) Please post a link that any politician tried to blame the Bush administration? No one would blame the Bush administration. I felt Democrats in Congress would use the opportunity to further cite the incompetency of Cheney, and by association, Bush. Within the last week, I've seen Gore insult our nation's supposed discriminatory practices towards Arabs in Saudi Araba, in addition to a political rally during Coretta Scott King's funeral. Was it ridiculous of me to assume someone wouldn't take the shooting incident and use it to their parties' advantage?
  7. It's ridiculous how hospital staff has spun this story: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,184846,00.html These alledged "silent heart" attacks may warrant complacency--if he were 40 years younger. Although I'm not familiar with the term, you don't need a medical degree to determine ANY irregular heart condition for a 78 year old man should be taken seriously. A 'full life' for Whittington may have only been a few years, anyways. No can convince me this stressful event won't have an adverse effect.
  8. I recall my parents discussing this, oddly enough, last week. My cousin just had their third child (within five years) and are holding another baby shower. First two alternated between boy/girl, and the third one will be a boy. They're pissed off they have to needlessly buy more items even though the clothing and toys/etc from the first boy should be enough. They're not exactly rich, but they're not poor either. Sounds like something you'd base a Seinfield episode off. Their opinions are probably biased as well. My dad is from a HUGE family--I'm talking 11 kids. My mom is from a slightly smaller family of 8 kids. Neither remember anything other than family attending the house to welcome the child for the other siblings. Didn't occur after first-born's either. It's really just our society's view of children, and how we're all expected to shower them with gifts. Since large families are highly uncommon today; and people usually won't be willing to hold more than two showers, you rarely have these ackward situations.
  9. I've seen one of these surprise downloads, and they do scare the s*** out of you if you're not expecting it. I even cried louder than the kid did.
  10. QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 01:52 PM) Well, that was quick. It was nice and everything, I guess. I wonder since Bush was publicly OK with Oz being with his family, if that's good enough for Telander? Was it broadcasted live on TV?
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 01:12 PM) Just one thing i would like to throw in here... A change up isn't about how fast/slow you throw it. It is to be a variation off your fastball to get a batter guessing. It is supposed to look like a fastball and just be 10-12 mph slower to make you think. It doesn't matter if it is 70mph or 80 mph, all that matters is that it looks like your fastball, but is a notch slower. It's the arm motion which fools hitters with good changeups. If every pitch Jenks has the same motion for fastball or changeup, and the difference between those pitches is approaching 30 mph, you can't adjust quick enough. Velocity does matter, because if his changeup isn't gripped properly, it may have the same speed as his breaking pitch, which a hitter may be already preparing themselves for.
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 01:09 PM) Hell to be honest I think Cheat does a better job than almost anyone else who reports on the Sox. There are thousands of better candidates for any sports journalist position. It's not exactly a specialized job recquiring extensive training. Sports writers and fans alike are both watching the same game, using the same statistics and quotes to create their stories. What separates them is their connections to players, and obviously, they're getting paid for their work.
  13. Can anyone else imagine, God forbid, if during the year we're in a funk, and THIS is used as an reason for our troubles? Honestly, I can picture a article containing such information: "Troubles concerning this ballclub have been rooted long before their recent slump. Dating back to last February, when Ozzie Guillen refused to the White House, there have been questions raised of his devotion to his players. Last year, a slump was temporary, in part, because of the "loose" clubhouse attitude Guillen abided by. Ever since the White House snub, things have been different...." -Jay Mariotti
  14. No, because the second or third pass Grossman lobs over Owens' head will be enough to set him off. If we had a more experienced, and quite frankly--talented quarterback, I wouldn't mind entertaining the thought.
  15. Excerpt from Telander: I can imagine Rick staring at this sentence, feeling dignified he brought politics into his colum. This quote, and in addition to the entire article, is a space filling pile of s***. Someone should teach him how to piece together a paragraph before anymore inciteful stories about Guillen's shunning of a presidential visits. As if immigrants and school children were thinking, "You know, I've always respected American values--but now that Guillen won't see the president, it's time to raise hell!!!!"
  16. QUOTE(CluelessJoe1919 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 12:08 PM) Trust me, the Cubs have the better reporters right now. It's too bad, too. Is this including both the Sun Times, Tribune, among other publications? There isn't anyone whom exclusively covers the Cubs I'd consider top-notch. Mike Kiley, the Sun-Times' Cub writer, is a schill/apologist for Jim Hendry. And I don't exactly trust the integrity of any writer within the Tribune circles.
  17. Borchard whines throughout the entire article. I hope Williams finds a nice trade scenario and sends him to baseball purgatory in Tampa Bay. Where even there he'd be a bench-player. How can he seriously blame anyone besides himself for limited opportunities in the big-leagues? I'm not going to kiss his ass because he's a 'good guy' or past contributer to Future Sox. Bust prospects shouldn't have any face-time in newspaper columns.
  18. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 01:25 AM) Except that picture is taken from George Bush's ranch, not the White House. From Balta's link:
  19. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 01:00 AM) 10th Church Fire These people keep targeting the rural churches. The more churches these idiots hit the higher probability they'll be caught in the act. If I were the police, I'd station myself outside several rural churches and wait for something to occur. Hell, bring the community into the mix. If every church were watched by several people for one week they would have their guy.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 11:10 PM) So wait 1 second...you're actually telling me that the White House has no idea who is showing up at White House functions? Well, I guess when you let a male prostitute toss you softball questions in the White House press corps, anything's possible, but Jeez, if there aren't records of exactly who's showing up in close proximity to the most powerful man in the world, I'd be very very worried. They sure better know who the Hell is getting through security. Otherwise we ain't too damn secure. You're assuming I'm familar with their policies. No, I don't believe they're aware of every person who enters the White House. As evident by the Gannon situation, extensive background checks aren't even conducted on hired employees--guests can't possibly be different. Abramoff might have been included a guest of a guest, or part of some other interest group which frequents the White House. This doesn't raise any new concerns of potential whackos gaining access to the president. Assuming anyone did have intentions to harm the president, you'd still have to pass through pat-downs and metal detectors. Maybe they're currently collecting this information. If I knew what they did with guests lists, assuming they hold onto such information, it would be easier to answer. But again, I'm not familiar with their policies--it could be such documents are destroyed. If so, I guess it's time to concentrate on the next impending GOP scandal. Is it required they approach everything under the same protocol? Is there some rule which says, "If connected with individuals associated with financial troubles or illegal campaign finances, follow these steps..." The White House may have felt the need to immediately distance themselves from Enron because of the obvious s***storm brewing. Whereas Abramoff can't immediately be denied because their encounter, brief or not, may have happened. Just think about this Balta-- Is the Bush administration orchestrating this grand lie; whereby destroying evidence and attempting to cover their tracks, or is it possible this is merely proof of poor management. Both are disturbing. If I'm chosing between criminal activity and ignorance, I'm reluctantly siding with ignorance. Comparing this event to 9/11, some people refuse to believe incompotence exists at the highest executive branch. They assume everyone knows everything, and nothing occurs without Bush's knowledge.
  21. 6. Any college with large Serbian population. What exactly do you plan on majoring in?
  22. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 10:58 AM) That'd be a good discussion to have. What are some people's favorite childhood movies? -Neverending Story -Bill and Ted's Awesome/Bogus Adventure -Suburban Commando -The Land Before Time Aside from Neverending Story, which I watched half of the movie recently and must admit it holds up well, other listings are exactly the films a stupid kid would like.
  23. QUOTE(bmags @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) why would they lie about that then? why not say they've met at holiday gatherings, but have only been in attendance elsewhere? Perhaps they couldn't be sure of every gathering Abramoff attended. It was known he attended holiday events, whereas other dates his presence couldn't be verified. It's not the White House's obligation to prove they haven't crossed paths. Let those who are looking for any semblance of a connection collect their proof. If the evidence is located--and not just grainy photos rivaling Zapruda's film--then you have all the material to completely humiliate the administration (even more).
  24. Section 1. White Room - Cream vs. While My Guitar Gently Weeps - The Beatles Like A Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan vs. Sympathy for the Devil - The Rolling Stones All Along the Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix vs. When the Levee Breaks- Led Zeppelin Section 2. 25. QUOTE(bmags @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 06:50 PM) This photo contradicts a lie. Hence it being published. Sure, it contradicts a lie he never attended events aside from holiday gatherings. Still doesn't prove they met.
