  1. I don't think we'll be seeing Gavin Sheets play full games in RF now that Engel is back, so not sure I agree here. Engel was likely coming into the game regardless.
  2. He was out. He beat the throw but his leg was curled up under him instead of extended. A headfirst slide and he was safe easily.
  3. Yeah, I mean I guess that's what happens when 60%+ your lineup is or has been hurt and/or having career worst years. But Tony gives away so much on the margins that frankly this team just has no room for with how they've played. The move I am referring to is pretty small and frankly I missed it live, but it was highly likely the difference between a win and a loss.
  4. You’re certainly not dead with 1 out of 3. But winning the next 2 is extremely important.
  5. Archer is averaging 4 innings per start and has only gone 5 three times. I think he’s only surpassed 80 pitches one time this season. His last start he walked the world. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him go 6 with Sox offensive tendencies, but they need to be patient with him.
  6. It doesn’t make a lot of sense. If you’re gonna pinch run him after Yoans single, why not beforehand? TLR makes so many small mistakes throughout a game that just pile up.
  7. This was mentioned in the GT, but if Tony pinch runs Engel for Sheets right away Engel is at 3B on Yoan's single and none of this happens and Sox win game 3-2, at least.
  8. Probably as close to a must win one can find themselves in on July 5th.
  9. Great point on not pinch running for Sheets right away. More TLR incompetence that yet again cost us a game.
  10. This. K zone was very pro Twins tonight. I live in MN so had to watch Twins telecast and it was blatant. Sure Jason and Steve mentioned as well.
  11. He had a chance to win the game in the 9th and avoid that whole fiasco.
  12. That one hurts. Next 2 must wins, tbh. Game should have been a comfy lead for Sox after 7.
  13. Bullpen is definitely an issue. Badly need Bummer.
  14. Brutal inning. Not sure there is anyone I’d prefer to see in there over Kelly without the benefit of hindsight. Guy just has to do better. Can’t walk 2 dudes. Gotta get the next 2.
  15. There is pretty much no chance the Sox cut bait with Yaz catching regularly when he returns unless he physically can’t do it. Nor should they imo unless he comes back and sucks just as bad as before for the rest of the season. With a year of control left, gotta hope he finds 75% of the player he was less than 12 months ago when returning from the IL. It’s not like the other options are fantastic. Hard to say Seby hasn’t earned some PT right now, but there is still some time to see that normalize before a decision is needed.
  16. Pretty tough to carry 2 non catcher bench players with 26 man rosters. Not sure that is realistic for any more than a few days. Sounds like Yaz should be in rehab later this week, and back within 10-14 days.
  17. It is a bit of a conundrum but you probably have to keep Rees. He’s an ideal backup because he’s great at controlling the running game and is a pretty good all around catcher. Seby has been fantastic and clearly Tony likes him, but it’s a SSS and with a larger one last year he got exposed both offensively and defensively. His BABIP is also unsustainable and he’s 29. Seby less likely to get claimed than Rees imo, but he’d have to accept assignment to Charlotte since he’s been previously outrighted which he probably isn’t gonna do. In any event, I’m not too worried about because you still have Perez who is probably better than both longer term.

Have we heard any real update on Yaz recently? Is he nearing a return?
