The White Sox are not in a position to punt Vaughn's development in order to give Jake Lamb, Brian Goodwin or Leury Garcia at bats. Those guys are all who they are - below average players who are lucky to have MLB jobs right now. Andrew Vaughn is a consensus top 15-20 prospect in the game who is widely considered to have the potential to be an elite MLB hitter. IS he right now? No. Will be be buy August 2021? Probably not. But we already know who Lamb, Goodwin and Garcia are and it isn't pretty. Vaughn has enormous upside, especially as a LF/RF. I also don't think playing any of those guys over Vaughn puts the Sox in a better position to win now. If Eloy, Engel and Luis were healthy - I'd have no problem sending AV to AAA to get a year of control back and let him get his swing hitting bombs in a bandbox. But we just simply don't have that luxury at this stage, and I am dumbfounded that some posters (frankly just a couple) can't wrap their head around that. There are no better options than Vaughn in LF right now.

This team just called up Luis Gonzalez and is currently without their #1,#2,#3,#4, and #7 OFs on their depth chart and you want to send Vaughn down? Its obvious he's struggled against RHP - no denying that. But he's the LF, and due to all these injuries, its just the way its going to be. Vaughn learning to hit RHP at this level and continuing to mash LHP is far better than demoting him. Is it ideal? Nah. But such is life when the team is this banged up.

At least there is some semblance of upside there. There is none with Gonzalez. But obviously Gonzalez got the call with the ability to play CF. But you have Leury and Goodwin covering CF...how often is he actually going to play? I get we have a full 40 man, but anyone seems like a better option than Gonzalez.

There is one thing I am fairly certain of......Luis Gonzalez isn't the answer.

Just brutal. Hope its more of a 10 day thing as opposed to 3 months again.
-
Yes - one bad series while the Sox are missing 3 of their best handful of players - and I think we should tear it all down. Fire sale. Start over. Maybe we'll be relevant again by 2027!

Sure, that works too. But lets not act like Frazier is some massive upgrade on Eduardo Escobar. Frazier has 285 PA sample of being good. Prior to the first 2.5 months of the 2021, Escobar has pretty clearly the superior player. I will take Escobar for 3 months for basically no prospect capital in return, rather than giving up legit talent for Frazier who then becomes a pretty underwhelming offensive RF in 2022. Madrigal is the 2B of this team moving forward. We need a stopgap, not a long term option.

You can’t be serious.

There is next to 0% chance that Yermin will be DFA'd in 2021. A demotion could be in order though - problem is, they don't exactly have any better options. For now, I would run Lamb out there against RHP. Wouldn't be opposed to giving Sheets a run at it.
-
I am not that worried Vaughn at all. Keeping running him out there. Yermin? I think its ovah for him. There is absolutely zero reason to throw him a strike and everyone in the MLB knows it.
-
Eloy can’t come back soon enough. The Yermin magic is longggggg gone.
-
Hope these two missed it doing laundry.

I mean, I obviously know that. The point remains tho. It’s incredible .
