  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 03:21 PM) That is pretty insane honestly. That is a pretty terrible return for a front line starter. Yah, I don't think that offer was ever something Rick was going to accept in December.
  2. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 02:52 PM) http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2016/12/27/lev...-jose-quintana/ Take it for what it's worth. Kinda random names to throw around.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 01:56 PM) You spent the last 10 years trying to get back on to Soxtalk after getting banned originally. That's right, 10 years. You are here for a week, and are already calling people retards, and talking about people who have no life. Apparently you didn't figure out how to stay on Soxtalk during those 10 years. Please boot him again. Adds nothing.
  4. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 11:54 AM) Keep in mind, BN is Kenny's mouthpiece too. It'll be interesting to see who breaks news since Rosenthal won't be tweeting for a bit. Rosenthal take a vaca or what?
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 11:53 AM) If we were to take on those guys, I would want their entire top 5. To start with. Yah, but that's not going to happen. I'd take one for sure. Both seems like a huge stretch.
  6. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 11:46 AM) The Sox should take both of them and clean out the Yankees system. Eh. If they were one year deals, I'd agree. BOth are signed through 2018. Would add $25M to the payroll both this year and next. That is quite a lot to swallow, and would definitely affect the Sox chances of competing in 2018 if a bunch of stuff went right this season with prospect development.
  7. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 11:30 AM) This offseason is f***ing exhausting. The Sox FO is so incredibly predictable with the way they go about their business. How so?
  8. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Dec 26, 2016 -> 04:07 PM) Its worth taking a bit less of a price than TOTAL FLEECING and just dealing Quintana now to avoid being burned by the ever-present threats (even in the case of Mr Consistent himself) of ineffectiveness or injury. Could you imagine if Q busts his shoulder in May for a terrible Sox team and getting basically nothing in return for him? This isn't an argument to give him away, but it is an argument to be a little more flexible on the asking price. Eh, disagree. Sox can afford to be patient with Q due to his control. The guy has never been hurt and has an incredibly easy and clean motion. Sure, he could get hurt - anyone can - but you don't take a lesser deal in the December or January prior to 4 more years on cheap control due to that. Rick has said this will take some time. Get what you want or hold onto him until you do. I am confident he will do that.
  9. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 25, 2016 -> 12:01 PM) Unless a team comes out of nowhere to offer up a bounty for Robertson, I think the plan is to hope he put he's well and then deal him for a haul in July. Same goes for Jones. If those two stay healthy and pitch well, they should fetch some very nice returns in July. That said, if the Mets offered Nimmo for Robertson I'd jump all over it. I don't think Jones and Robo are valued remotely close to one another by the Sox. I think the Sox would move Jones, but only for a Ken Giles top return including an elite prospect and at least 1 more top 100 type.
  10. Welp. Things seem to have come to a screeching halt. Really thought something was going to happen this afternoon, even though the McCutchen part never made sense to me. I have no doubt several teams are trying for Q. Still really want Meadows. Is be fine with a lesser package like Meadows, Keller and Diaz to make sure we get Meadows. Basically take one less piece with the third piece also being a little less exciting.
  11. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 01:19 PM) Going off the original tweet of raBBit and WSD, I think a package of Glasnow, Newman, Rutherford, and Andujar would make sense for Q. Cutch to NYY doesn't make sense tho. They're probably more interested in Quintana or Glasnow / Keller.
  12. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 01:09 PM) Would the Yankees be interested in Glasnow? Certainly. But just seems like the Sox and Pitt wouldn't need NYY. But maybe you're onto something and Glasnow goes to NYY for a Frazier, Torres, Rutherford type who then goes to Sox as centerpiece instead of Glasnow. Allows Pitt to keep Meadows and Bell, and Cutch too. Then perhaps Sox get Newman and Keller from Pitt. That seems to make the most sense since NYY needs pitching. That said, my guess is Cashman would prefer to trade for Q directly, rather than Glasnow which sends Q to Pitt. Definitely an interesting possibility that makes more sense than the Cutch to Nyy talk.
  13. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 11:56 AM) I've always banged the "trade pitching for hitting drum" but this is getting ridiculous IMO. Can we also look for a young catcher? I want Collins at 1B because I don't want him worn down from catching. We have the #2 catching prospect In the game. Let's give him time to develop as such.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 11:41 AM) You're right, if it isn't on twitter, it isn't official. Why did you want to punch me in the face on twitter because of something I posted here that had zero to do with you? Why didn't you post something here that you wanted to punch me in the face? If rabbit or Kyle want to call me a dick, what do I care? They wouldn't know me if I standing right in front of them. But you are the guy that posted for all to see you wanted to punch me in the face on twitter for something I posted here. I was alerted to it. I don't follow you at all, although I did give you credit for things you did break. You are an internet tough guy. I read some of the stuff, and you want to punch a lot of people. I would love to get it on youtube because I am sure you would miss. Dude just stop. Most people here would love his insights and tid bits, I can assure you very few care to read your back and forth bickering. Let it go.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 03:29 PM) Naked Ty Pennington is blinding. Balta, what is a good Pirates message board? Trying to get a feel for what they think. I found a few, but very little action on the Q talk.
  16. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 02:57 PM) We trade Q for Glasnow/Meadows and either Newman or Bell and I am popping the champagne Sox would easily have the best farm system in baseball by a gigantic margin. Zero debate. 1) Moncada 2) Glasnow 3) Meadows 4) Giolito 5) Kopech 6) Bell/Newman 7) Lopez 8) Collins 9) Fulmer 10) Adams 11) Burdi 12) Basabe 13) Hansen 14) Dunning 15) Tilsen Holy f*ck (dare to dream) I love how our 4th best prospect in this scenario was the 3rd best prospect in game a few months ago.
  17. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 01:52 PM) Adding Abreu even at arb prices will increase the payroll especially when they have Bell really cheap already. under 1 mil Yeah, still far less then he'd get on the open market.
  18. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 01:20 PM) Abreu won't be expensive (relatively of course) until he's a free agent. Don't let the word arbitration scare you, he's not going to make much more than his original 6 year contract called for even he goes through arb 2 more times. This. The number of the people that don't understand Abreu's contract situation, especially after what he just agreed to for his 2017 salary, is staggering.
  19. QUOTE (beautox @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 10:28 AM) I agree, nice deal for the Bucco's if he does infact pitch like his second half. whats crazy to me is just how bad their rotation was last year Miguel Gonzalez would've been their best pitcher by fWAR; 2.7 to Cole's 2.5. No one pitched over 125 innings for them.
  20. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 10:42 AM) https://www.sny.tv/mets/news/mets-havent-ru...r-him/212078742 This guy suggests a Jay Bruce - Robertson swap. Lol, clearly he has no idea what the Sox are trying to do.
  21. QUOTE (FT35 @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 10:02 AM) Very nice comps. Would love to see Diaz added because I am not sure our plan is 100% to use Collins as a Catcher. Who knows. The White Sox plan is 100% to use Collins as a catcher. They've said as much recently. Whether or not that will happen remains to be seen. But they'll be patient with him. But I do agree that acquiring another interesting young catcher doesn't hurt. Especially one that is ready, good defensively, and can help these young pitchers develop.
  22. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 09:48 AM) Dominic Smith is a good hitter. Ahh, yes. Thanks for the correction. Not super familiar with the NYM system. It was Dunn I was thinking of.
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 09:42 AM) <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"> Different tune to what he was saying on MLBN last night.
  24. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 09:35 AM) I'm still not ruling out a 3 way trade involving the Mets. If the Sox did actually ask for Conforto, I could see him coming to the Sox with prospects from Pirates as well: Mets get McCutchen, Robertson Pirates get Q Sox get Conforto, Glasnow, Keller, Smith, Dunn WE NEED BATS! Conforto doesn't cut it for me as the only bat coming back for Q.
