  1. I like the signing. As some have said, I’d rather see him than Perez, as I believe Kay is 5 or 6 years younger. I do want them to sign another vet for the rotation, my ideal choice being Mike Soroka, and have Burke and Cannon battle it out to be the #5 starter. Curious to see what Bannister/Bove can do wit Kay to elevate him.
  2. I don't think that's true. Ever since the 2012 CBA came into effect, the Sox have spent all the money allotted to them to sign amateur talent in both the draft and free agency. Every year under Mike Shirley, they've exceeded their bonus pools to sign their guys. I think the reports of them signed guys in classes of 2-3 years down the line, Is enough of an answer to that question.
  3. I know nothing about the guy but because he had a background in player development, I’m going to say this is a good hire. I think teams forget that player development is something that happens throughout the entirety of a player’s career, so I would want as many player development guys on my staff as possible.
  4. In an OPP, I said that I think the Sox should get Denzel Clark from Oakland. Put him in CF. And move Robert to RF
  5. Every team in MLB has agreements with kids as young as 12/13 in Latin America, the Dominican Republic especially. The Sox and this new regime are now playing at the top of the market. James Fegan, Hector Gomez, and Frances Romero have all linked the Sox to guys in future classes. And buying prospects has nothing to do with the ML roster. What are you talking about?
  6. The thought process behind the trade was a failure. The outcome was a failure
  7. Let me add to this, A rebuilding team is in no position to be trading young prospects for unproven relievers, especially those over the age of 30. I know the plan was to be able to flip a guy like Booser for a better prospect but I’d rather have the certainty of a guy like Fjardo* in my system than take the risk of getting a better prospect
  8. They absolutely should, I know Bannister doesn’t like him for whatever reason but maybe the Sox shouldn’t be taking his advice on pro personnel
  9. I personally think a manager should have some input into the coaching staff but I think hitting and pitching coaches should be Gam hires since those hires dictate the hitting and pitching programs of an org. Or in the Sox case, Getz/Fuller/Bannister should have final say on these hires.
  10. Based on these list, I want the pitching coach to be either Max Weiner, Mark Lowy, or Casey Jacobson. And for the hitting coach, I'd like either of Matt Borgschulte, Joel McKeithan, or Cody Atkinson. I think that whenever a team is filling out a staff they should look for guys who have backgrounds in player development, which is something that doesn't stop at the ML level. I also think these hires should be left up to Bannister and Fuller, let Venable recommend guys but I think Fuller and Bannister (and Getz) should sign off on the hires since they're the ones who the pitching and hitting coaches will be answering to. I really hope the Sox do hire more coaches and create new positions on the staff, like quality control and player development coaches. I imagine that they'll hire another offensive coordinator. I know McKinven can do the job of a catching coach but I think they should still hire another one.
  11. They have nothing on the books salary wise. As of right now, they have $37M on the books and it’s just Benintendi and Robert. I don’t think O’Hearn and Fedde will cost that much.
  12. PSU needs to move on from Franklin. He’s Brian Kelly 2.0.
  13. I’ll expand but I want the team to sign Ryan O’Hearn to man 1B and DH, Zac Gallen to fortify the top of the rotation, Erick Fedde to eat some quality innings, and two proven veteran relievers. And acquire a RHH OFer for depth. I don’t think the team should be spending like a team that’s trying to win the World Series just yet, I think the young player this season showed that they’re worth investing in. With the right moves, it’s not ridiculous to think that they can win another 15+ games, especially when you consider all the games they lost in 2025 due to having a bad bullpen.
  14. After Montgomery, Fauske, and Wolkow, I think the Sox need to address their talent pool in the outfield. They’ll probably take one of the SS’s in the draft next year, and they should those guys are all rated in the top of the class (we’ll see what happens) but they desperately need outfielders
  15. Over, I expect him to get his OBP up considerably too. Pitchers won’t pitch to him as much next season.
  16. We’re having civil debate, it’s what (redacted) would want
  17. Vargas’ number were due in by his horrific start, I have confidence in him going forward. I’m excited to see him after another year of his new offseason plan. Regarding Matt Shaw, I don’t want him on my favorite time. He seems like a me guy and I think he’s a cowardly, not a good combination.
  18. Those coaches usually play a role in how pitching/hitting is taught throughout the organization. I think the new pitching/hitting coaches should be recommended by Fuller and Bannister, and not Venable since they’re the ones who outline how hitting and pitching is taught throughout the org.
  19. I’m shocked that Katz is gone. He’s had nothing to really work with the past couple of years, especially in the bullpen and I think he’s done a good job at developing pitchers at the ML level for them during his time here. A part of me would rather see him in Bannister’s role than Bannister. Katz generated a lot of value for the Sox with the assets they were able to get back in trades for the arms he developed at the ML level. I’m curious to see who the hire is there, I imagine it’s Bannister’s recommendation, and it better be a good one. *********** Im glad Grady Sizemore is sticking around, shocked they didn’t move him to the FO last winter but I’m glad they’re doing it now. I’m glad they’re doing it now. I guess Fuller is bringing in his own hitting coach, he should and not Venable imo. Pitching and Hitting coaches should always be GM hires if you ask me.
  20. A 10-2 Notre Dame team that lost by a combined 4 points to Miami and Texas A&M is probably a playoff team, especially if those teams are playoff bound and/or Top 25 themselves. And look up Car’s numbers against P4 schools, outside of Mendoza of Indiana who played Illinois and Iowa. no one is better than Carr against P4 schools this year (Miami, A&M, Perdue, Arkansas).
  21. I don’t know if you watched those games but he wasn’t the reason why they lost them. I guess by your logic all their games going forward are meaningless, which is a stupid way to look at it when every game ND plays is a playoff game from them. They only lost those games by 4 points. I’m as shocked as anyone that their defense has been horrendous, the Ash hire isn’t working out and I don’t expect him to be back, but they did hold Arkansas and their offense which has been quite good to only 13 points. They went from being a top 3-10 defense to being a sub 100 defense, which is insane. Freeman has elevated recruiting there but Carr is real, they got the QB and that can take it another level too
  22. CJ Carr is that dude. He’s hands down the best first year starter in CFB this year and one of the better QBs overall so far.
  23. The amount of injuries at the beginning of this season can only be seen as a weird coincidence, I don’t expect that to happen again. Vasil and Gomez are prime examples of their ability to find/create/develop pitching. Injuries are irrelevant to a team’s ability to do either of those things.
  24. They kinda proven so far that it can. Some teams are able to create pitching, the Sox are one of them.
  25. What a season for Shane Smith. Seeing his progress and development throughout the season has me very encouraged for the Sox and the current regime going forward. I think Smith has 2/3 starter upside and they found him in the rule five draft. They took someone else's scraps and turned them into a very valuable asset. Smith, along with Martin, has a secured spot in next year's rotation. He went for 140.1 IP, hopefully he's up to 175 IP+ in 2026. I know he did a lot of the work himself but this is a huge player development and pro scouting win for the Sox. They don't have too many of those, certainly not ones that are this successful. Going forward at least we know the team can find pitching anywhere.
