How do you rate the rebuild so far?
QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 09:41 AM) I'll give the rebuild a full 10 for its start once Carson Fulmer and Zach Collins are out of the top 10, as that would mean we are next level loaded. I think BA already has them out of the top ten

What is Blake Rutherford's upside?
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 11:10 AM) I hope his health projects better. I'm just talking about the type of player. 2005 to 2008, he was an outstanding player.

Future Lineup and rotation idea's
I think the Sox should start batting Anderson and Moncada 1-2. This gives them the most at bats and if they hit their ceilings, it's where they fit best. Anthony Rizzo batted third instantly after the Cubs called him up. Was he the best hitter on the team? No, but the Cubs knew that his ceiling was batting third. I wasn't a fan of moving Anderson out of the lead off spot, in my opinion he should be batting there everyday. If you say that he was hurting the team and costing them games, please answer this question: What are the Sox playing for? They're rebuilding, not competing for a championship. Player development should be the team's #1 focus, especially now in this first year of a rebuild. Also, all that speed would be fun to watch.

Moncada being called up
QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 11:13 PM) The Sox have to maintain fan interest and try to avoid a real drop-off in attendance after trading so many players. No. Screw the fans, they need to do what's best for the org and it's players' development

Sox send Frazier/DRob/Kahnle to NY ~ Rutherford/Clarkin/Clippard/Polo
QUOTE (Lillian @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 08:00 PM) Would you guys prefer quality, or quantity, if that package were going to N. Y.? I'd rather just take Torres, than 3 lesser guys, but that's just me. Quality

Sox send Frazier/DRob/Kahnle to NY ~ Rutherford/Clarkin/Clippard/Polo
I have the score from Inception playing the background at work and its making this situation 10x more dramatic. Hoping that the Sox are able to get Groome, he was my favorite player in the 2016 draft. It would also be nice to have a LHP to pair with all the RHPs they acquired.

Todd and Melky
QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 12:13 AM) Honestly shocked we haven't heard s*** about Melky...good Lord. Dude is swinging a ridiculous bat lately...doin it on the field. How have we not heard any contenders in on him? I think he'll be traded after the deadline.

Reverse Standings Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 10:22 PM) Since their 13-10 start, the Sox have played .373 baseball, going 25-42. Once this team trades off the vets, it is going to be really, really ugly. I think they'll finish 2018 with the top pick in the draft. It's been said before but they need to add stars... BPA too.

When will the Sox be competitive again?
2021. I think the Sox are really going to really take it on the chin the next ccouple of years. I think they'll for sure end up with a top three pick in the 2019 draft and a top ten pick in the 2020.

Did Reinsdorf sell Bulls Draftee to sign Jake Burger?

2017 MLB Catch-All Thread
I've been watching a lot of Cardinal games the past month or two and that inspired me to take a deeper look into their org through Baseball America, Fangraphs and Baseball Prospectus. And there's not a lot of high end, young talent in their org. Look at the ML club and there is a lot of guys who are over 30 making anywhere from $10M to $20M a season. I think its time for the Cardinals to tear it down and stock up on high end athletic talent. The future for them in my opinion is pretty grim, especially with the Cubs and Brewers expected to run that division for a while.

Marvel Entertainment Thread
Saw Spider-Man this morning and I couldn't stop smiling the entire time. Easily my favorite Marvel movie and one of my favorite CBMs ever. I was really excited for this when they announced that it was going to be a John Hughes inspired movie but I hated all of those awful trailers and Iron Man's inclusion had me worried but he's not a big part of the film. It might be the funniest MCU film too. Keaton was awesome as Vulture. I loved how they got a bunch of famous child actors to play Peter's classmates in the movie like the boy from Beast of No Nation and the little girl from the Nice Guys. I don't want to spoil anything so Ill stop there, all around awesome movie. Homecoming The First Avenger Guardians The Winter Soldier Dr. Strange

Avi Garcia - All Star
A friend of mine sells memorabilia as a side hustle, like autographed balls and jerseys. Last week he got Avi to sign a baseball and he wrote his name, number, the date and then first All Star Game as well.

2017 Watercooler TV thread
I couldn't stop smiling while watching Twin Peaks tonight. Pure Lynch heroin. I know that a lot of fans of the show, especially the people who watched it during its original run, are hesitant about the new season so far because it's not like the show. This new season has more in common with Lynch's films, especially his early work and shorts. This episode is a perfect example of that. I think that once a certain thing happens, the show will go back to 'normal'.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 08:45 AM) Transformers wasn't quite as bad as expected... https://www.vox.com/summer-movies/2017/6/23...ense?yptr=yahoo By far the best part of the movie was any scene with Laura Haddock. She's quite feisty. Except you can be pretty sure no Cambridge prof wears 5" stiletto heels or shows so much cleavage. The biggest issue I have is sexualizing a 15-16 year old Peruvian actress, Isabela Moner. It was a fun time.

STAR WARS Everything
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 10:14 AM) There's like 3 weeks left of filming. Hopefully he doesn't need to do too much. He has to if he's going to get any credit and get a slice of the residuals.

Tim Anderson
I honk this thread is ridiculous. As someone said, you're worried about the team's young shortstop, who didn't start playing baseball till he was 17/18 in the first year of a rebuild?

**2017 Films Thread** (Beware of spoilers)
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 04:22 PM) That would mean a $1 billion film...as the costs ran to $325-345 million including marketing, p&a. Sitting on about $60 million going into its second weekend in China, where the Alien film is eventually out. Wonder Woman around $70 million, because not a known property here, but the reception of those who watch it is obviously very positive. I'm talking about straight production budget. I haven't read the article in it's entirety yet. I know the listed budget is $125M which isn't a lot for a movie like this but some people have been throwing around $200M+. The Mummy could be another Interstellar and by that I mean that this could be a rare case where the top talent (Nolan/Cruise) makes more than the studio. Keep in mind that Interstellar was a joint production. I think people need to careful and not just look at the domestic box office before they call things a flop. Look at WarCraft.
