That is probably the order of events, but there really is no reason to drag it out. The org should have fired his ass ages ago, and he should in no way be in consideration for the position in the future.

I think it’s safe to say the results are mixed. We don’t know what level of input Katz had during in game decisions, or whether any input was even considered knowing who the “manager” was. I am open to retaining him if the new manager is on board, but I also won’t shed any tears if he is let go with the rest of the current staff.

Adam Dunn and Adam LaRoche both failed miserably here, so therefore the Sox can never again sign a player from the NL. Except how many declining AL players have the Sox acquired that have also failed miserably? The Sox lack of scouting acumen and their propensity to target less expensive aging and or past their prime players might just have more to do with it than some nebulous NL boogeyman.

Moncada & Eloy trades feel like getting pennies on the dollar. Yes they might be movable, but we’d never see the value of what we expected them to be in return. It’s better IMO to keep them and hope they bounce back / stay healthy enough to live up to their potential. The utter lack of depth in the upper minors means a worse player likely replaces them, which defeats the point. As for how they solve the AV, Eloy, Abreu problem, or the DH in the outfield problem I really don’t know. They have some hard choices to make or need a bump in payroll. Doing nothing to address either isn’t really an option, but it’s what I fear they will ultimately do.

Gio is SO broken

Serious question, how does a team fix Gio? If the velocity is gone, what does he do to diversify his pitches? He just doesn't miss bats throwing 88-91 and even a good Change isn't fooling batters for long.
