  1. Yup. $5M for the org is nothing. Suspensions for executives feel like a slap on the wrist. No punishment for any of the players that participated either.
  2. Even if it took only prospects, they'd be what, $35M over the very luxury tax that has kept them sitting on their hands all winter? Without a full starting staff or pen. Yeah...
  3. Honestly, this just sold me. If any of our starting OFs need an IL stint, Engel's shortcomings are quickly exposed. If Leury is going to be more backup INF over OF, Maybin does make a lot of sense.
  4. Is Maybin better defensively than Engel?
  5. Our old friend Héctor Gómez did tweet this earlier.
  6. Perhaps I should have stated that I'm less concerned as a Sox fan if the Cubs are a playoff team again in the near future. They could be good and it would bother me way less than when their 2016 bandwagon was omnipresent everywhere i went in the city. As gross as it was to see Cubs gear in Bridgeport and McKinley park, if the Sox are in the playoffs I don't think that happens again. The Twins standing in the Sox way is a way bigger concern for me.
  7. Cubs are pretty maxed out with an already poor farm and it would take a lot maneuvering for even a 'retool.' Their bandwagon has faded back to pre-2016. I'm more concerned about the Twins being in the Sox way in the near future.
  8. Throwing gobs of money at the draft and international really was his edge, and with caps on both he hasn't done much. It would be an interesting hypothetical to see what he would do rebuilding a 3rd franchise from scratch under the current CBA.
  9. I want no part of watching Covey pitch for the Sox ever again, but his option has roster value. Its more valuable than he himself is IMO, but thats pretty much why he hasn't been released yet. They can dump him any time, but there are others that they can't stash that will be removed first.
  10. If true its not overly surprising. I could see a stopgap 2B and maybe a few minor league contracts for pen arms. Beyond that the roster looks pretty full.
  11. I'd hate to lose Yermin before he ever gets a shot, but I don't want to lose McCann or Collins either.
  12. Hahahahah Fake Bruce LeVine actually got one right ??
  13. So now we need 2 40 man spots, yes? Curious to see who goes.
  14. I admittedly know nothing of him other than the name. Any good? Anything left?
  15. Hawk & Wimpy in their prime were the best!
  16. His blank check approach to team building only works for so long. And now that there are caps for the draft & international pools his flow of young talent has slowed. Throwing gobs of money at everything seems to have caught up with him this time.
  17. You are correct, perhaps not everyone knew that Cordell has been released. My Bad. But thats not really what the previous back and forth was about. But ultimately its not important nor worth auguring about. Peace
  18. And here you are quoting my posts again for no good reason.
