White Sox making best swing decisions in MLB so far
Lip Man 1 replied to almagest's topic in Pale Hose Talk
They are taking great swings...and have scored 32 runs in 10 games. Sometimes stats can be a little misleading. -
Gang it will get worse next season. JR isn't spending a dime given the likely hood of a labor impasse caused by the owners locking out the players before the 2027 season begins. It sounds like that is going to take out at least some, maybe all of that year.

A.J. was one of those who stated that numerous times.

Not disagreeing with you, just clarifying the point.

It was nine and eight.

10 games played, 32 total runs scored (3.2 runs per game), have scored three runs or less in seven of the 10 contests. Have scored only 13 runs in the six game losing streak. Have played about two weeks and already they are 4.5 games out of first. At this rate they won't even be playing meaningful games after May 1st...LOL.

from the Sun-Times: Manager Will Venable didn’t seem too optimistic about a quick return for left fielder Andrew Benintendi, who exited Sunday’s game against the Tigers with a left adductor strain. “He’s progressed a little bit, but he’s not there yet,” Venable said. “[He] Doesn’t feel as good as we thought he was, so he’s going to continue to get evaluated, and we’ll do some scans on him.” So...let's play short handed for another four or five days before the Sox decide to put him on the IL! 😆😉 White Sox baseball: We LOVE to play shorthanded!
-
But yet just a few days ago a person posted that the offense wasn't the problem. 😆 I spy with my little eye a double-digit losing streak coming on (which would mark the third straight season the Sox will have had one if I remember right...)
-
That is a shame. Guy was a hard thrower. Had a ton of strikeouts with the Sox in 2008-2009, had a solid ERA both years as well.

And so switching out flotsam for jetsam begins...

Magic Johnson went to the Lakers after they won the coin flip with the Bulls for the #1 draft pick in 1980.

Very true and JR won't allow a thorough search outside of the organization. How many times has he had a chance to do so and never even considered it?

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
Lip Man 1 replied to Fielder Jones's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It's both... the tax hit and the idea of having to pay anything (for example his unwillingness to announce he's willing to pay anything out of his own pocket for a new stadium) is still the driving force, and that is ego-centric. "I'm rich...I shouldn't have to pay a damn thing...not taxes not my money for a stadium..." BOTH are involved. -
And of course the Sox will sit him for four or five days before deciding he needs to go on the IL for who knows how long. White Sox baseball..."We love to play shorthanded!!!"
-
In nine games they are averaging 3.5 runs per game and THAT'S WITH a game with nine runs and a game with eight runs. The offense is as horrible as last season.

"The three-game sweep revealed all of the Sox’ flaws. They were outscored 18-9, and their bullpen wasn’t dependable. Entering Sunday, Sox relievers had the 13th-worst ERA in the majors (4.13)." https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2025/04/06/bullpen-implodes-as-tigers-sweep-white-sox

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
Lip Man 1 replied to Fielder Jones's topic in Pale Hose Talk
With respect I seriously doubt JR is going to want to give up a single iota of control as long as he is alive. We'll see how this plays out, I hope I'm around to see how it ends. -
From the Sun-Times: DETROIT — White Sox designated hitter Andrew Benintendi exited Sunday’s 4-3 loss against the Tigers with left adductor tightness. He appeared to come up lame when he was running on the bases in the first inning. Losing Benintendi for any stretch of time would be a significant hit to an already thin Sox lineup. Nick Maton replaced Benintendi at the DH spot in the lineup. Benintendi was in a good stretch, batting .290/.333/.484 with a .817 OPS. Last year, the Sox lost former third baseman Yoan Moncada and designated hitter Eloy Jimenez to adductor tightness. How long Benintendi is out depends on the severity of the tightness. Manager Will Venable said he thinks part of Benintendi’s injury happened Saturday when he made a leaping catch into the left-field wall in the first inning. “He felt OK today,” Venable said. “And then that first at-bat, [it] started flaring up on him a little bit, and we just want to do the right thing, get him out of there.”

You mean like Colson Montgomery? 😉 Give the prospects time, something will screw them up...these are the White Sox.
-
And the offense has now scored three runs or less in six of the nine games played. Seriously I don't see one single, solitary thing to be excited about or optimistic for the future right now with this team and organization.

But again HE DOES NOT WANT TO GIVE UP CONTROL. It's all part of the same issue with selling, he wants what he wants and that's the way it is. It's all about ego and having the final say. -
Well...the first blown game with a lead in the 7th inning or later this season. Many, many more to come. 2-7 worst record in the league and far more losses to come. White Sox baseball.
