  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 11, 2016 -> 05:25 PM) Running Jose Abreu in the 9th when Carlos Sanchez hasn't been playing much and is facing a 95-97 fastball pitcher who is hard to make consistent contact with. Not really. Opponents were hitting .353 against him this season in daytime appearances. I guess Robin played the % and lost.
  2. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 11, 2016 -> 05:43 PM) Call me crazy, but I don't think Cleveland is that big of a threat to the Sox, especially without Carrasco. I agree and Detroit and KC are in the same boat. We are going to run away w the Central by All Start break.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 11, 2016 -> 05:28 PM) As I said, at Texas or Wrigley with the wind blowing out during the summer are two of the places I would make that same statement. So not arbitrary at all. And you have to look at the context, he was going right into the heart of the Rangers' line-up and their hottest hitters in Odor, Mazara and Beltre, compared to the bottom 3. Yes arbitrary. It is May and summer does not start until June 20th. So we all agree that after June 20th in Wrgley and Texas it is correct but not in May. Except in Tropicana Field where they don't turn the AC to high until June 20th and that causes the ball to carry more to right and right center.
  4. QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 11, 2016 -> 08:05 AM) Pitch framing catchers would object to this idea. The irony is that officials are most ingrained into baseball versus all of the sports. And yet baseball umpires would be the easiest officials to completely replace with automated technology. The only issues would be plays that would require human review. Why have any umpires??? Have cameras covering every base as well as the complete stadium and let it be totally umpired remotely.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 10, 2016 -> 01:27 PM) It means the game is played on the field. Not a computer print out. What is being done is working. There will be plenty of time for Saladino and Sanchez to play. In fact, I think Rollins was out of the line up 3 games in a row last week. Changing things up when things are going well is silly unless it's an obvious upgrade. Right now Saladino and Sanchez aren't upgrades over Rollins. Maybe at some point they will be. They will still get their shot. What is Saladino hitting? at the ML level I agree. I would say it probably makes sense to make sure Saladino is getting regular starts to insure he can play SS should an injury occur. So far the offense has been able to survive so having a weak bat or two in the lineup has not affected the ability to win games. Anderson is most likely the future at SS in the long term.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 6, 2016 -> 03:12 PM) Should be good crowds all 3 games, especially tomorrow with the bobblehead. I bet it's over 25k tonight. It is a very sad commentary that the crowd is more for the bobblehead and not Chris Sale. White Sox fans should flock to see him every chance they get. Sale is special and those type of players don't come around that often.
  7. I am not a Johnson fan and agree with the move back down. But let's not overreact either. He was pitching against a top hitting team who the night before made Rodon look very average. Maybe Gonzalez will show better his next chance.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2016 -> 07:47 PM) Scot Gregor ‏@scotgregor 27m27 minutes ago Hearing #WhiteSox VP Kenny Williams may or may not (wink) be at Tim Lincecum showcase tomorrow in Arizona Why not Hahn???
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 5, 2016 -> 04:55 PM) believe me, us mods and admins have been trying to send it to the glue factory for years Why??? This thread has over 10 pages so a lot of fans have an opinion on it. Isn't that the point of a message board?? Being a long time White Sox diehard, I do find it interesting. Since I live over 1,200 miles away I rarely see a Sox game live. So I am always wondering what happened to the White Sox fan base.
  10. I like Rodon but Nola already has what is considered the best curve ball in baseball. That is quite a feat for a player that young. Obviously his control is and always was outstanding. Since we have( hopefully for a long time) 2 of the best left-handers in baseball I think in hindsight having a stud RH may have made for a better rotation. But that is a minor improvement and maybe Fulmer will be just as good as Nola.
  11. We should win this. Owens is probably headed back to minors after this start since Boston has 2 of their starters due to come off DL.

    Navarro

QUOTE (bmags @ May 4, 2016 -> 11:14 AM) That sounds like a made up story the media would use as fodder because it's digestible. The world is not a cameron crowe movie. But Lyons is a former player including White Sox and I think his source was Kenny Williams.

    Navarro

FWIW---This may have come up but I never saw it on this site. Steve Lyons was filling in doing color on Red Sox broadcast. They were discussing the LaRoche /Kenny Williams debacle. Lyons said Navarro is not considered a clubhouse contributor mainly because he has bounced around a lot. But he said he is given the credit for rallying the team together after the incident. Navarro brings a soccer ball with him to the clubhouse and he got all the players to join an informal soccer game during a workout and that seemed to help form team chemistry.
  14. Boston's starting pitching is awful except for Porcello who we miss. However their closer is lights out so we do not want to get to the ninth behind. Obviously they hit the hell out of the ball. Ironically, they also lead the majors in stolen bases which is totally out of character for a Red Sox team.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 2, 2016 -> 12:51 PM) They are going to lose 4 or 5 in a row at some point and 8 out of 10. Just stay with the leaders of the division, and add some help. Every team has stretches of ups and downs. Hopefully though we stay healthy with our main core. Every night it seems ESPN is running on the bottom of the screen another player heading for the DL or out for the season.
  16. My only regret is Sale misses Red Sox series. Boston can hit like hell but they have lousy pitching. SWEEP BOSTON
  17. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 30, 2016 -> 10:31 PM) Sorry, I don't rally care if people judge me for this, but I hope like f*** Britton is injured. Well we judged you........................
  18. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Apr 29, 2016 -> 10:18 AM) Some Sox players (wrongly) surely feel LaRoche was forced out or something along those lines. If Danks is incredibly popular amongst teammates, that gives you pause re: what it does to chemistry. Maybe they skip him again and do that a few more times when they can. Use Gonzalez. Agree on the teamate part. But skipping him may make him even worse when he is not in a set schedule.
  19. There are some creative things the Sox can do here. First, they have to decide who takes his rotation spot and I assume it is someone at Charlotte. Once you do that: 1. You can stick Danks in the pen as the long relief option. or 2. You release him and see if he gets picked up or 3. You release him, he doesn't get picked up and you send him down to Charlotte if he wants. Maybe he regains some consistency and would be another option should an injury occur.
  20. QUOTE (staxx @ Apr 24, 2016 -> 03:35 PM) whattttttt?!?!?! is this finally the end of Danks? No, he will be the LH DH going forward.
  21. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 23, 2016 -> 06:11 PM) Great game. Worst part about hawk only doing road games is he won't call any more walkoffs for us Maybe Hawk only doing road games is affecting attendance...............................................
  22. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 22, 2016 -> 11:03 PM) Leaders step up when the time calls for it. I think the title should have been "another" White Sox winner.
  23. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 22, 2016 -> 04:52 PM) If I'm not mistaken, don't the computers always hate The Royals? Use Vegas odds. They make sure they work out.............................
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2016 -> 04:51 PM) Avi is 8th in baseball at swinging at the first pitch. https://twitter.com/baseball_ref/status/723608617275011083 What does this stat indicate though. Some of the players in the top ten actually lead their teams in BA. Avila, Abreu and Jackson have the lowest % on the Sox and they are all struggling.
  25. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Apr 22, 2016 -> 12:57 AM) And they both got torched. Rusney Castillo is a bigger weight on Red Sox payroll than Pablo Sandoval (OK maybe that's stretching it a little too far). The Cuban ballplayer trendiness among ML GM's has definitely fallen off since Puig/Abreu set the bar so high. I don't agree. Sandoval has no trade value. Boston ended up with too many outfielders. Castillo is hitting enough to be playing in the ML but he ended up being 4th on the depth chart when Brock Holt continued to produce. Now Castillo may not be a HR hitting outfielder which may mean Boston overpaid. Rather than keep him 4th they sent him to AAA to play everyday. I think it is a great luxury to have 5 ML outfielders at this point. Boston is desperate for starting pitching so I am sure you will see them trade one of the 5 outfielders + for a pitcher once the dust settles. I hate the Red Sox while living part of year in New England. But I envy the fact that Boston is able to produce positional players on a regular basis. Their everyday lineup is filled by players they brought up except for 1st and DH. All in their mid-20's except for Pedroia. Luckily they are really struggling to produce pitching so they are forced to trade for it or sign free agents.
