  1. They've had a lot of crappy teams. I remember 1968. Traded for Aparicio and Tommie Davis, a big RBI guy from the Dodgers. had nearly won in 1967. lost first 10 games in 1968 and then sucked for three straight years. bad teams when Fregosi managed (and Hawk was GM for a bit). But this is the worst year because this team has a huge payroll, they underachieved, they quit, the bullpen demoralized everybody and the outfield is incredibly inept. plus, they got swept at home by the Cubs. They got crushed in that doubleheader by the Twins with the football score in the first game. And last weekend against the Red Sox was an absolute WHITE FLAG, No guts, no heart surrender. Pitiful.
  2. gotta be ozzie. team has quit on him. that's simply unacceptable. hasn't found a way to win with these guys. And i'm sure his chatter has gotten really stale in the clubhouse.
  3. Red Sox scored more runs in each individual game than the White Sox scored in four combined. that's disgusting.
  4. outscored 46-7 this weekend. sox should be embarrassed to charge people to watch this crap the rest of the year.
  5. Aren't baseball players rated on five tools. hitting -- Owens is at best a C. Hitting for power he is an F. fielding -- B or B-minus throwing -- C or C-minus running -- A or A-minus The guy is average or below average in three of the five categories. to me, that's a fourth or fifth outfielder -- if you're planning on being a contending team. If he's getting 250 at bats, OK. If he's getting 400 or more at bats, you're in big trouble.
  6. you can't make a deal that would help the Cubs make the playoffs. if pods helped them get in and then win something, KW would never ever hear the end of it. He'd better remember that. don't help the Cubs. period.
  7. maybe we can climb back to .500. But if feels pretty damn good to finally see this team the way it should be playing. got a pen. got a new arm. got some speed. enjoy the hell out of this for those of you who have suffered through the first four months.
  8. for everybody else who has suffered all summer, ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. They were laughing about Contreras on the Yankees' broadcast, saying the hitters had to be pleased that he wasn't traded and that they were going to get their chance against him tonight. somebody, either O'Neil or Girardi, said that he was just pitching like a guy who had gotten old. No consistent arm angle. no velocity. It's OVAH, Jose -- at least for this season. Put him on the DL and find out if Floyd and Haeger can get anything done. How tough is that for Williams and Guillen to figure out?
  10. Just say NO to Andy Sisco, Nick Masset, David Aardsma and Dewon Day. they already ruined our season. Don't need to see them again. The future of this rotation has to be either Floyd, Gio or Egbert, along with Buehrle, Garland, Vaz and Danks. one of those young guys has to deliver.
  11. Wonder if Reinsdorf ever asks Kenny Williams: Do you negotiate this deal with contreras? The one that is going to cost me $20 million for nothing the next two years? did you build this bullpen? Did you do absolutely nothing the last month to help this team with deals? Did you decide to build your offense around Erstad and Pods? Time for a change in the GM office. Now more than ever.
  12. Jose needs to go on the DL just to regroup. find out if Gavin Floyd has anything at all. These beatdowns are embarrassingly inevitable. I'm gawn.
  13. QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 08:12 PM) that would play for the Sox at a discount. I'll start with some ideas: Ron Leflore Rock Raines Ralph Garr D.B. Sweeney Oney Guillen Ribbie Rhubarb Jenny McCarthy Am I missing anyone ? Bee Bee Richard and Mike Caruso. Helluva DP combo
  14. Kenny Williams has done a terrible, terrible job this year. he created one of the worst bullpens in baseball. He got nothing in two trades. He gambled on injury-prone Pods and Erstad -- and lost BIG. He teamed with Ozzie to ruin any value a former Number One draft pick (Anderson) had. He did sign Buehrle. Other than that, he's been horrible.
  15. So I guess nobody else thinks we're going to win 27 in a row and get back in contention? terrible, terrible attitudes out there. KW is going to figure this thing out. One more good game by Sisco and he'll be up to right the ship.
  16. Eggie looking very, very intriguing, like a guy who understands how to pitch and keep the ball in the park. looking forward to seeing him.
  17. Grand Hyatt is correct. got a sweet deal with mlb. It's adjacent to Grand Central Station. got a huge lobby. It's where the Sox were staying on 9-11
  18. most people think this is the end of LaRussa in St. Louis. JR knows the biggest mistake he made was listening to hawk and firing Tony in 1986. doubt it will happen, but I can understand why it is a rumor.
  19. be careful with the kid. no reason to rush him back.
  20. be difficult for them to regress.
  21. and masset and aardsma and Sisco.
  22. take him over aardsma, sisco, Day, Masset and the other Eckersley Wannabes we've watched soil this season.
  23. left handed. can run. might be able to improve into a leadoff hitter if he can learn to bunt better and slap out some ground ball hits. he's probably no more than a platoon left fielder. But he's more valuable than Terrero who strikes out too much.
  24. somebody pull the plug on this season. It's relentlessly cruel and unusual punishment.
