  1. I saw the Sox in Detroit pre-pandemic, stayed at a hotel and walked to the game, so yes. But it wasn't "Ricketts Hotel" close.
  2. Man, you could see this lack of pitching depth coming a mile away. Bet they wish they at least tried with Rodon now. This is why I was against Pilkington for Hernandez at the deadline. Team has no pitching depth and is too cheap to sign real free agents, so either they go young or they go very old. Right now, they have no young pitchers to turn to. This move has a real Ervin Santana vibe to it.
  3. Interesting to what if the Kimbrel and Rodon decisions. Is Rodon at $22 mil + Engel, Vaughn, Adolfo better or worse than Pollock at $15 mil, Velasquez at $3 mil and $4 mil of flexibility? I think it is, but I could see the other side.
  4. I was never a huge fan of the Madrigal pick because I like upside, however, here are some ways that the situation is similar: Madrigal was the 4th pick in the draft. Vaughn was the 3rd pick. Madrigal came up, was somewhat disappointing, but then showed flashes of offensive potential, especially in the last month before he was hurt. Vaughn came up, struggled (especially against RH sliders,) then showed flashes of offensive potential before getting hurt/wearing down in the last two months. And like Madrigal, Vaughn is currently injured even if it's not severe. Madrigal and Vaughn both hit RH, so are somewhat replaceable given the Sox have other RH options. (Perhaps they believe that Burger could be a pretty good 1b/DH option down the road) This is the exact same front office, and they seem to value the now in extraordinary ways. Just look at all the 30+ players they've added in the last couple of years. I think this would be a moronic thing to do, but given their track record of trading Semien/Bassitt for Samardzija, Tatis for Shields, and Madrigal/Heuer for Kimbrel, I just don't see how you can 100% rule out them doing something this stupid again.
  5. Absolutely agree. However, this is the group that traded Madrigal for half a year of Kimbrel, so...
  6. You’re gonna have to throw Rosario on the trade pile. He’s a FA after 2024 season.
  7. I wonder why they're not stretching him out at least a little this year. Why are they committed to taking a talent like this and making him a middle reliever? Is that how much the Sox overvalue bullpen pieces?
  8. Umm, Manea is not that good. Oakland would jump on that trade and then immediately trade Hendricks for someone way better than 1 year of Manea.
  9. The Sox pitching depth, or lack thereof, is terrifying. Look at all the 30ish np arms they're running out there in the spring. They have stars and absolute disasters and very little in between.
  10. Velasquez is hard to watch. Slow to the plate, bad control. Hope he either improves or pitches very rarely.
  11. Sox trying to tie the record for spring GIDPs.
  12. At this point, Rutherford has got to be a DFA candidate, right?
  13. Kimbrel trade is horrific, but probably only Hahn’s 3rd worst after Shields and Smardzija
  14. I wonder if he would be better in the 9th inning of a spring training game.
  15. Kimbrel struggling once again.
  16. Sox MiLB pitching depth is ridiculously bad. Worst in my memory. That’s why they are 30th. Some of their position players actually have promise.
  17. I think Twins sold low on him.
  18. Aside from the merits of this action one way or the other, it will never pass cuz nothing passes the U.S. Senate. It is a completely broken institution. Still might not be as bad as the Sox current offseason.
  19. If Benjamin ever appears in a regular season game, it is an organizational failure.
  20. Brightest spot for me today was Sousa.
  21. Sox win.
  22. There's no reason to believe McClure is ever going to be a major league pitcher, right?
  23. According to Rockies announcers, apparently it was one hell of a throw.
  24. No. I'm making an assumption. Sousa probably won't make a 26 man unless Sox decide to stretch Crochet out.
