  1. Oof. Guardians sounds like a fictional baseball team in a movie not about baseball. Gotham City Guardians. I mean, there was an XFL team named Guardians and that's sort of a fiction football league not about football. I would have gone Spiders.
  2. They actually have a lot of options for RF/DH between Engel/Goodwin/Vaughn/Grandal/Sheets/Burger/Yermin. If Hamilton is on the team. he's a defensive replacement only. I like the flexibility because it allows TLR to play the match ups in the postseason instead of stubbornly sticking to a set line up against a tough righthander. I would like to see an 2b upgrade as well, but I think they can win with what they got if their starting pitchers stay hot.
  3. Having both catchers in the game certainly did not work. Gotta have 3 catchers to make one of them your DH.
  4. I question Hamilton. Give me Goodwin and Sheets as the last two. I could see Lamb instead of Sheets. Then rosters expand in September, bring back either Burger or Mendick. Next year, Leury, Lamb, Hamilton, Goodwin are all FA’s. Plenty of room for Sheets on that team.
  5. Okay 2005 Sox: Buehrle 16-8 3.12 Contreras 15-7 3.61 Freddy Garcia 14-8 3.87 Garland 18-10 3.50 El Duque 9-9 5.12 / Brandon McCarthy 3-2 4.03 2021 White Sox Rodon 8-3 2.14 Lynn 9-3 1.99 Giolito 8-6 3.90 Cease 7-5 4.15 Keuchel 7-3 4.25 I like 2021 better at the top and bottom. Freddy and Garland maybe slightly better than Lucas and Cease, but I actually think that's a push.
  6. I suspect they drop Hamilton instead of Goodwin. With Engel and Robert, they don’t need a cf, but can use every lefty bat they can find.
  7. Crochet in extras = bad idea, but TA cost them this game.
  8. Do the Sox want to lose this? Sure seems like it.
  9. I think TA's swing there is ballgame.
  10. WTF????? Why is he swinging 3-0 against a guy who has thrown 2 strikes all inning????
  11. Now I would like to see Sheets hit for Mendick.
  12. Can't imagine they'll let Taylor face Vaughn, but if RH pitcher, do we see Sheets? Colins?
  13. Has the plate been this big all game??? Explains the strikeout, I guess.
  14. Colson Montgomery's brother indicates that he is signing and throwing out the first pitch on Tuesday.
  15. Again, the Dodgers make having too many good players work. Guys need to play multiple positions, gotta rotate players to keep them fresh. The idea of 9 guys playing 162 is really outdated. Right now, TLR is doing a nice job finding time for Engel (whose work load had to be managed), Goodwin, Sheets, Burger, etc. The thing that surprises me is that Leury seems to play more than anyone except maybe Abreu.
  16. 5 guys for 4 infield spots counting Madrigal. The Dodgers find a way to make situations like this work. Getting either Burger or Moncada some time at 2b before the playoffs would be good. Today, there was a total of 1 ground ball by the Astros. Burger could have handled that.
  17. Ugh, all these men LOB. Gives me a bad feeling.
  18. Elijah Tatis has a hit and a walk! And a caught stealing. Baby steps. Baby steps.
  19. St. Louis has the sixth biggest fan base, Detroit is seventh. Both waaaay bigger than the Sox. https://www.statista.com/statistics/235719/facebook-fans-of-major-league-baseball-teams/
  20. Maybe. Hard to consider Detroit or the St. Louis Cardinals to be small markets, though.
  21. Well, they got their guy. Now let’s hope they were right.
