  1. To be fair, when you don’t spend on top talent and your MLB roster has holes, you tend to push high ceiling guys quickly. But on the flipside, I guess that could cause you to rely on the promotion of guys who are just average or "meh" in the minors as well.
  2. Julks is immediately expendable with the Slater add.
  3. Yeah, a guy I just learned/remembered was on the team yesterday
  4. Yeah, I guess if you wanted to protect those relievers, you would just be replacing the older relievers (Anderson, Kuhl, De Los Santos, Ron M (don't know how to spell it), Varland, etc). Julks is another guy who feels like DFA fodder with Slater getting an MLB deal and serving as the RHH bench OF.
  5. They will probably try to sneak a few guys through waivers closer to Rule 5 Draft and non-tender guys. I think the 40-man roster flexibility narrative is a non-issue. Team just lost 120 games. Easily still fat that can be cut.
  6. Colson and Carela selected. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/11/white-sox-to-select-colson-montgomery-juan-carela.html
  7. Abreu at league minimum or Vaughn at about $6M? Idk I think I would prefer non-tendering Vaughn, sign Abreu to MiLB deal, and look for someone more interesting to play at 1B on a MLB deal. Or just move Vargas to 1B and play Ramos at 3B.
  8. Yeah, the older relievers for sure who should get a look with the Sox.
  9. Just say yes and agree with everything JR says.
  10. Yeah, if they want to open space on the 40-man right before the Rule 5 draft, it really won’t be that hard. Just look at the roster. No one will be upset if they DFA and lose Justin Anderson, or Gus Varland, or Pen Murfee.
  11. Yeah I will reiterate what I said earlier and say there’s plenty of fat to trim if the 40-man gets too full.
  12. I would have liked Cowser to win RoY so they could get the extra draft pick.
  13. Think it was more about work ethic than actually being a vocal type leader.
  14. Hes getting paid full contract from Astros minus league minimum wherever he signs.
  15. Platoon with Beni more likely. He's not replacing a LHH. Julks is a guy who should be more worried.
  16. There's definitely guys still here that we can non-tender, DFA though. Justin Anderson, Enyel De Los Santos, Ron Marinaccio (who?), Pen Murfee, Gus Varland, Chuckie Robinson, Jacob Amaya, Braden Shewmake, Corey Julks, Gavin Sheets are easily guys that can be cut and no one would care about. And someone who some seem to think could be a candidate to be non-tendered like Vaughn.
  17. Yeah, this seems like it probably could have been a minor league deal with a promise of adding him to the active roster Day 1 of the season.
  18. Yeah, he's a fine bench piece on this team.
  19. He's always hit better against lefties it looks like. Platoon/4th OF option.
  20. In buy-low type of deals, sure. In deals for our best players? No (unless they’re like the third piece at most).
  21. I don’t think the price is that bad if the only reason you pay for a YouTube TV or Hulu TV is for live sports in the first place (which you would cancel).
  22. Those last 2 came in a deal for a guy who was one of the worst SP and another guy who was one of the worst RP that year so not really the same page.
