I’m not opposed to the Sox eating about $10M of his salary for 2025 in a trade if it means they get what they want (or close to it). If you think about it, if you hold him until the trade deadline, that’s about what you would have paid him anyway at that point.

Yeah they probably didn't need to sign as many OF as they did. The Rojas signing is still a bit of a headscratcher. Sign an all glove, no bat 3B to play 2B/backup SS, where he's below average defensively? Might as well have just signed a backup IF who's primary spot is SS.

Looking into it, Carela was optioned today, so I would assume he wouldn't be on the MLB 60-day IL. I don't think that would open up a 40-man spot.
