In all seriousness though, if Moncada has to miss some games due to his experience with COVID (possibly more than just speculation on our parts), who will play 3B? Leury or Mendick? Some combo? Cuthbert? Might as well let Yermin start there for the first 5-6 innings and then defensive sub rest of game.

Yes but my point is you can't really play the service time game and say he needs to improve in the minors. If you're going to call him up after whatever date it is you need for him to stay down (what, 6-7 games?) , you might as well start him in the majors on opening day.

If Madrigal is not on opening day roster then I wouldn't even plan on calling him up this year. They don't really have the excuse of "he needs more time in the minors" this season. Plus it's not like he really hit well in Spring Training.

I would expect them to not trade anyone. Also, there's no reason they couldn't just pitch Gio out of the bullpen. And why trade Colome just because of Rodon? They need all the arns they can get.

There's also a taxi squad too where I think these guys are more likely to land. Maybe not carry 1 but probably not both on active roster.

It's really cool for these kids (despite not being able to sign for a lot) that if they were undrafted college seniors, you can at least pick the team you want to go to. You'd have to think some of these kids have a handful or two of teams trying to sign them for the $20k amount.
