  1. Maybe talked to him to see if he was signable as teams do? That's my guess.
  2. Or since he will be the backup catcher, you stick him behind the plate and give Grandal a half day off at the DH spot. Lot of options.
  3. Yeah I would have preferred a 3-year deal myself but probably needed the 4th year to get it done now. Not going to complain.
  4. Um, think he was joking/making a movie reference?
  5. Based on the Grandal deal, they seem to want to strike quick. What do you think a potential offer out to Wheeler looks like right now? I'm going to agree with everyone and guess 5 years/$100 mill.
  6. Grandal did good accepting a one year deal last off-season. Effectively what, 5 years, 89 mill? Not bad.
  7. I agree with the swing man idea. Smyly, Pomeranz, salary dump (plus interesting enough spect or two) of Rich Hill are some ideas off the top of my head.
  8. You can. Just have them serve at different times. And players brought in this off-season or who were in minors wouldn't be suspended.
  9. Me too. And who knows. They may be. But this tarnishes it for sure.
  10. I mean, the Sox aren't going to sign him (I'd love to come back and eat crow because of this comment 2 months from now lol).
  11. Why not? Colome has 1 year of control and the payroll is so low.
  12. Yeah that could work too.
  13. What do you guys believe is a fair enough punishment? First 3 draft picks in next 2 or 3 drafts? More? Less? Edit: damn, wrong thread.
  14. Encarnacion can find a starting job somewhere I'm sure. But I do agree for the most part. What about Howie Kendrick to sign as a platoon piece? Although I do think its possible he could find a starting gig on a rebuilding team too though.
  15. It's November 18th so no.
  16. Trading for one year is dumb. Go all in on him next year.
  17. Yeah maybe we can sign him to be the 5th starter and then have him become swing man out of the pen.
  18. I'm familiar...but he isn't with the Red Sox.
  19. Easy to see why he would sign so quick.
  20. Looks more like someone trying to break a story based off speculation (Bruce Levine reporting 3 year offer).
  21. Would have been amazing. Dammit.
  22. Kind of an odd statement when wanting to sign a 31-year old catcher to about a 4 year deal.
  23. Agreed. In our semi-final game for our summer season, we noticed the catcher was exposing the signs so obviously so that you could see them as a first base coach. The guy coaching third noticed this and started relaying to the hitter with different phrases for different pitches that were coming.
