  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 9, 2018 -> 09:07 AM) Do we still hold the rights to Infante? Looking at our roster, yes.
  2. Finally saw Star Wars. While it was entertaining enough, this sequel trilogy just feels so unnecessary. Can't knock it too much though since I have Moviepass.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 9, 2018 -> 05:34 AM) Peripherals lie just like the eye test. It is hard for some to believe it but it's true. Look at the peripherals, Javy Vazquez was a far superior major league pitcher to Mark Buerhle . I don't know why people defend these peripheral kings to the death when you say they suck. Who is invested in Joakim Soria. I got the same crap you are getting a few years ago when the White Sox signed a pitcher from KC who I said sucked, but evidently the peripherals didn't agree, therefore I was a stooge. Felipe Paulino, how you doin? Zach Duke, same thing. Luckily for White Sox fans, Soria's stay will be closer in length to Paulino.. I don't think anyone really expects him to be great. Just that his peripherals give hope that he could be a bounce-back candidate. I expect him to be meh but I wouldn't be surprised if he is good this season honestly.
  4. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 8, 2018 -> 04:07 PM) Still blows my mind. And the ban is still mostly on. Only in small counties and outside some hours can you pump your own. Everyone was concerned about smelling like gasoline...like wtf are you doing lol
  5. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 8, 2018 -> 03:53 PM) To some extent, I think every championship winner gets lucky. Absolutely.
  6. Speaking of Oregon, has anyone else seen tweets regarding the new self-serve gas law? F***in hysterical.
  7. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 8, 2018 -> 01:31 PM) Another interesting nugget is Gillaspie not making the top 30 list. Not very glowing comments about him either. Wasn't Nick Delmonico left off the top 30 list last season? He could bounce back and be relevant.
  8. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 8, 2018 -> 10:54 AM) I find it interesting Logan Taylor is our fastest baserunner now after Moncada's graduation. A name I definitely needed to Google after seeing that.
  9. QUOTE (pablo @ Jan 8, 2018 -> 10:37 AM) Also - is it a little bit concerning that our 2017 2nd rounder is in the top 10? That's like the old days when whoever the Sox drafted automatically made the top 5 prospects. More of a sign that BA likes Sheets or that BA doesn't think our system is as strong as some of us think? Doesn't help that some of our best young players graduated off the list.
  10. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jan 7, 2018 -> 12:14 AM) Very underrated point. Could definitely see fan sections yelling "Titoooo"...."Poloooo" to each other across the stadium. Rooting for him even harder now! Maybe we'll see him as the starter in CF at some point.
  11. Any other Resident Evil fans in here? Is this the year we finally get the RE2 Remake? There's been rumors for it for about 15 years now (or whenever the first remake came out).
  12. FINALLY seeing Star Wars tonight.
  13. QUOTE (iWin4Ron @ Jan 7, 2018 -> 01:30 PM) I disagree here with this thread. It is quite annoying to us few sox fans, but this is ESPN and a very quick marketing piece from them. It's not meant to be entirely historical, so I have np being left out as a White Sox fan. It's not like their listing other no-name teams there. So, overall, move on.... This.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 7, 2018 -> 08:34 PM) According to this board they both were awful. I defended Jenks day after day on here and got killed for it. Ditto Robertson. He was a whipping boy on here in 2015 and I said he was fine. And the point goes over his head, folks.
  15. Can't see him coming cheap, especially to a division rival. Pass.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 7, 2018 -> 08:35 PM) Can you explain? I fail to see how the Sox would be so bad unless the young guys regressed and/or didn't live up to their expectations. Lots of good players don't live up to their expectations their first full season. Lots of players take their lumps and the league adjusts. It happens.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 11:42 AM) Geez. I'm just trying to add some context here. I live here and I'm just relaying the relief of Royals fans getting rid of Soria. He was the whipping boy of fans all last year (much like me despising Dunn that one year and me despising Rios, etc) and the talk shows are blazing. Do you guys check Twitter? Type in Soria's name for gosh sakes. I don't like being negative Nancy but I'm just passing along what I KNOW from living here. Soria was booed; Soria was despised; Soria was a bad clubhouse guy; Soria was the scapegoat for all the Royals' bullpen woes. Soria will make me consider whether to buy mlb.com this year cause he will drive me insane UNLESS as I pointed out Coop fixes him. I also said the other reliever we got sounds fine. Read my posts before you guys say I'm totally out of line. Don't you want info passed on? We can't be Sox shills all the time for gosh sakes. Be reasonable. He's awful; Coop easily could fix him. He's so bad greg doesn't want to watch him pitch on mlb.com in a Sox uniform so shoot me. You guys over-react. Read my tweets; they are not that negative since I do bring up Coop. This goes both ways. Some of our players get trashed on here. Like take away two weeks of a hitter's 0 for 30 and the hitter is different. Look, I get it. Sox fans are excited cause he's new, the unknown. I'd love if Soria does what some relievers do and has a good year after a bad one. Any examples of this?
  18. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 10:33 AM) To be fair that list hasn’t been updated for 2018 yet I don’t think, it’s from mid-season last year. I expect him to be higher on the updated list. True. I bet he will be too.
  19. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 10:55 AM) And that's one of many reasons ERA isn't a stat that should be thrown around as often as it is for relievers. One bad outing completely shatters it, and thus makes the pitcher seem a lot worse than he actually is. Sure, the stat is simply displaying an average, but said average doesn't really say much about how good a reliever is over time. Agreed.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 09:48 AM) The 2 things I will remember for him are how every year right before he imploded for 2 weeks there was a "David Robertson Appreciation Thread" or something like that posted here, and how in 2015 his implosion was entirely "Josh Donaldson". Oh yeah. That dude owned him back-to-back games.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 09:39 AM) Every year for him. 2 bad weeks every year. I will always remember that one game against Greg's Royals when if he had not pitched, his ERA would have been about over a run lower.
  22. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 09:35 AM) 1) Does anybody really think that the White Sox are going to out spend the other teams in signing Machado next year? 2) Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to sign Moustakas?. 3) Is there anybody who wouldn't want to see a 2018 White Sox infield of Moustakas, Anderson. Moncado and Abreu? 1) No 2) Yes 3) I'm not advocating signing him but if they did, I would understand why.
  23. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 09:13 AM) This trade is so good that I'm not really sure how the White Sox were able to pull it off. They get two veteran relievers for basically just money. Avilan is death on lefties and had a 2.96 FIP last year. Soria, while blowing saves, struck out 10 batters per 9 and posted a 2.23 FIP. He likely won't be closing here and it doesn't matter anyway. The Sox got money, gave up nothing, and can likely trade both of these guys in July and get a hell of a lot more than Jake Peter. Excellent work. Idk if it's "likely" but certainly possible.
  24. All of this Soria pessimism and he was actually positive WAR.
