  1. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 16, 2017 -> 11:45 PM) The Dodgers wouldn't give you prospects to take Kemp. They don't care about paying his salary, they just cared about the AAV getting them under the CB tax. MLBTR says they want to. Why wouldn't they want to clear $21m each of next 2 years?
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 16, 2017 -> 10:06 PM) Do you really want Kemp on a team learning how to win together for the first time? Release him. You're just buying the prospects.
  3. Dodgers willing to trade prospect(s) to unload 2 years of Kemp. Depending on who they would offer, I'd want the Sox to look into this.
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 16, 2017 -> 03:14 PM) Thinking about this, the Sox chances of signing Machado or Harper just decreased. Hopefully the Dodgers go all in on Harper.
  5. Thats actually really good for the Braves. Pay those guys for one year instead of Kemp for what, 3?
  6. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Dec 16, 2017 -> 08:44 AM) Giolito, Fulmer, Lopez ALL finished strong Anderson, Moncada, Delmonico ALL finished strong Add them to Abreu and Avi with Jiminez and Collins not far behind and I think this O will be entertaining CWS shouldn't compete this year but I think they'll overachieve and be fun to watch The league will adjust. It's all about how these guys adjust back.
  7. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 16, 2017 -> 09:38 AM) What’s funny is if Baltimore really wanted to prevent Machado from going to the Yankees, they’d agree to a 72 hour window with us, the Cardinals, the Phillies, etc. Obviously it’s highly unlikely he’d agree to anything, but what if one of these teams offered him 10/$400M right now? This whole keep him from the Yankees priority is pretty stupid IMO. I get not trading him directly to them or allowing a team like us to spin him right away to them, but ultimately there is nothing they can do to prevent the Yankees from signing him next offseason. Might as well go the 72 hour route before proceeding down the path they’re already going down. So true.
  8. Guys, he's with Oakland now.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 06:27 PM) I don't even know who Moore is from the name and now have to go look this up. Matt Moore pitched for the Rays.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 06:05 PM) While it could work out perfectly, the problem with it is at the deadline, there will be limited suitors, and at this time you don't know who they may be. Someone will want him for sure, but you can't be positive of a prospect upgrade. The Yankees might want him now, but might have to use their resources on another position. I don't know if that really is a calculated risk. It seems a bit risky. They'll probably use guys like Frazier and Adams on pitching as they probably should.
  11. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 05:29 PM) I guess I'm the only one that thought the Santana deal was pretty team friendly. It's about what he was projected to get. I like the deal. He's a good player.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 04:26 PM) Ok, i f***ing love Black Mirror I think it's time for me to jump on this train.
  13. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 04:23 PM) Has anyone actually said this? People from KC apparently http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=104407 Edit: I'm sorry, I meant the "baseball world."
  14. I hope he goes to the Cardinals. They just make sense. And I want them to better just for the Cubs' sake.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 04:07 PM) WE have no idea if Michael Kay is doing anything except just assuming he wants to be a yankee because all yankees people think everyone wants to be a yankee. Also true.
  16. Second round pick moves up a spot due to the Phillies signing Santana FWIW
  17. I'm going to start turning my hope to Nolan Arenado just in case lol (if the Yankee stuff is actually legit)
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 03:04 PM) Just wonder how they would fit him in. That payroll is going to be even more ridiculous in a couple of years. They're going to be playing a lot of young near minimum paid players. Also helps the luxury tax threshold jumps up like $10mill between 18 and 19. If they can get someone to take on at least half that Ellsbury contract, it doesn't look impossible: https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/NY...contracts.shtml
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 02:52 PM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...1214-story.html Thanks. Edit: since this was posted, hasn't everyone been saying the offer isn't that great?
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 02:46 PM) I am just saying that it doesn't improve their odds, and if you follow White Sox history, does indicate, they really aren't committed to being the highest bidder, which, for Manny Machado, is the death knell to their chances. And, everyone tries to qualify that, well as long as they don't give up much...that isn't going to happen either. So moving on would be deleting the entire thread. I read most of the "experts" out there, many who know Machado, many who know more MLB players than me, and the vast majority of them don't get it either. But Rick Hahn said it, and he currently is on a shrine, so it must be true. If the White Sox do make the trade and give up an impressive package as Gonzalez wrote, and Machado leaves with the Sox getting nothing, someone should be held accountable. Would you agree with that? Can you direct me to this? The only thing I've seen the past day is that the package isn't that great.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 02:38 PM) Until this came up, I have never read one post on this board discussing the advantages of trading prospects for prospective free agents to better position you to sign them in a year. Not when the Sox were trying to win, when it would at least make a little sense, and certainly not during a rebuild and a season where they aren't going to win. Because of the news connecting the Sox to Machado. No one really thought about it until it became a realistic possibility (Sox trading for Machado that is). It's pretty much just figuring out why.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 02:20 PM) I think Nate Jones will close. Until he gets hurt at least. Pretty much the one thing we can guarantee about any player on the team next year.
  23. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 01:09 PM) It also increases the cost of an Abreu extension. The deal is very similar to the Edwin deal.
  24. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 01:08 PM) What were the market dynamics at that time? Who else was involved in the bidding? How much extra did the Mariners have to offer? Found an article that the Yankees highest offer was 7/8 years at $175 mill and he signed for 10 years $240 mill. https://nypost.com/2013/12/12/robinson-cano...-seattle-intro/
  25. Angels sign Zack Cozart. Should have done that before the Kinsler move and had him play 2B.
