  1. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Aug 31, 2017 -> 10:46 AM) So that means Collins starts 2018 in Charlotte probably. Or starts in AA and goes to Charlotte briefly.
  2. QUOTE (Quin @ Aug 30, 2017 -> 10:26 AM) Honestly both Sox should have been presented the option to reverse the trades. Red Sox were given the option but seeing as though it was post trade deadline, they weren't able to trade for anyone else and said screw it.
  3. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 30, 2017 -> 01:51 PM) Not if it makes him mad enough to absolutely refuse to sign an extension or negotiate a free agent deal with the team. Knowing the Sox are only doing it to decrease his earning potential may not sit well with him. It's good for the short term but maybe bad business in the long term. The good news is this likely won't be the case as I don't think he's up until at least June/July. There's good reasons they can decide to let him start the year at triple-A for a while.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 30, 2017 -> 01:54 PM) Dude already has a shoe and car thing. As long as he isn't trying to play ball unnecessarily with 10 huge chains around his neck, I'm good with that.
  5. QUOTE (Soha @ Aug 30, 2017 -> 12:32 PM) Considering the Braves are getting uncomfortably close to the Sox in the standings, this probably isn't such a bad thing. Yeah I guess that's true.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 30, 2017 -> 12:06 PM) Braves trouncing Phillies early in game 1 of a doubleheader. Phucking Fillies.
  7. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Aug 30, 2017 -> 11:10 AM) I still would be shocked if Kopech broke spring training with the mlb club and essentially skipped AAA. He still needs to work on control and limiting free passes, especially against more experienced AAA hitters. Yeah I don't see him being on the Opening Day roster and I don't see him being up right after the Sox get the extra year of control. I think July at earliest.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Aug 30, 2017 -> 10:47 AM) Agreed. A midseason call-up seems probable (June-July). Maybe Shields hits the DL or the cheap vet starter we sign sucks. Shields I imagine being on a short leash and cut as soon as someone else is ready for a promotion. Especially if they see no way he can be traded.
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 30, 2017 -> 10:27 AM) It would be cool if he puts up 6-7 good innings tomorrow afternoon, and gets traded before they fly back to Chicago. To be eligible for the postseason, trades have to be completed by 11pm central tomorrow night. It's possible a team could trade for him without actually wanting to use him in the playoffs. If he's an improvement over a team's 5th starter, you still want him to take the ball every 5 days until the post-season. 5th starters in the playoffs are likely in the pen or left off the roster completely.
  10. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/08/card...mike-leake.html Clearing salary for that Stanton trade this off-season. Edit: dealt to the Mariners.
  11. QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Aug 30, 2017 -> 08:35 AM) Moncada is far more handsome than Kris Bryant and I'll fight anyone who disagrees. Me and my bro always say that Bryant has womanly features haha I think it's his eyes that make him look a little girly. So I agree with you on this.
  12. QUOTE (JPR @ Aug 27, 2017 -> 06:25 PM) I hope this guy is back on the south side next season. Trade him and then bring him back.
  13. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 29, 2017 -> 03:54 PM) Is it 'legal' to use promotion to The Show as a negotiating factor? I think that was how we got Sale to sign so quickly Sale was in the big leagues wen he signed his extension. Unless you're talking about when he got his draft bonus?
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 29, 2017 -> 02:41 PM) Postponed or cancelled?
  15. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Aug 29, 2017 -> 01:28 PM) I've been telling you guys, the org is not comfortable with next year being a trainwreck at the major league level. They want to win in 2018, not so bad that theyll sell out and go ALL IN, but the 2019 draft is not a focus point. Expect moves this offseason to help the 2018 squad. Who would you expect? Justin Upton if he opts out? I really don't think they are going to add that will make a significant impact.
  16. They likely only say this to give the pitcher a chip on his shoulder and to work hard during the off-season. I'm sure there's close to a 0% chance he is in the rotation on Opening Day.
  17. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Aug 29, 2017 -> 08:08 AM) Now that the trade deadline has passed i went back to hoping all our rivals keep losing. Nothing funnier then see them be buyers then fall apart in the second half. Nice to see it happen to a team other than us like it always used to seem. First or second place at deadline only to slowly dwindle the next 2 months.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 28, 2017 -> 04:16 PM) Instead the games will be played at Tampa. Evan Grant‏Verified account @Evan_P_Grant 52m52 minutes ago Daniels said Rangers offered to put on games this week as visiting club; but declined to swap home & home series. What? I've read this 3 times and don't understand it.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 28, 2017 -> 09:05 AM) It's amazing just how bulletproof Coop is with the fan base. No other coach has ever ripped fans for not showing up more than he has. He gets all the credit for any success his pitchers have, and gets no blame when they suck. Every other coach and manager, it's pretty much the opposite. All the blame when they suck, it's all the player when they do well. A guy goes down to the minors and starts throwing strikes, comes back and Coop is a genius. A guy sucks with the White Sox and goes on and becomes a decent pitcher elsewhere...not Coop's fault. IMO, the reality is somewhere in the middle, he's a good pitching coach, but not this treasure he's made out to be. Agreed. He's not some sort of prophet but he's a good coach.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2017 -> 01:48 AM) Pretty cool to have that much money that you can make an easy 250,000 on a sure bet like this. I always wondered why gamblers don't just pick their spots like this. I mean why go out there and play hi level blackjack and lose your ass like Rodman and Jordan did? If Michael just waited for something like this, go to several casinos and bet 2 million at each casino and make a ton of cash? There are few sure things but this was a sure thing. Well 95 percent a sure thing. I guess Floyd could have had cramps or thrown the fight or something but if you bet up to 10 million at different casinos there was a 95 percent chance you were going to net an easy return on your money. Funny how Vegas sports books made a ton of money on this. Most chumps bet Conor because of the odds. They couldn't resist putting a few hundred on Conor in hopes of winning so much more. Those 300, 400, 500 dollar bets add up for the books. I know someone like this. He doesn't have the greatest job but somehow affords really nice things and a really nice house in Mokena. He throws thousands of dollars on tennis matches.
  21. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 26, 2017 -> 01:55 PM) I saw that. Three catchers? Can one play OF I'm sure Smith/Narvaez will get DH at bats.
  22. QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Aug 25, 2017 -> 10:23 AM) No, I am a realistic fan. We all like to compare ourselves to the Cubs during this rebuild for some reason.. so let's look at their top prospect list ala 2015 1: Gleyber Torres -- traded 2: Billy McKinney -- not even in the majors?? 3: Carl Edwards Jr. - transitioned to 7/8th inning bullpen arm 4: Duane Underwood - Who? 5: Albert Almora: 4 OF/sometimes starter 6: Ian Happ -- playing a role 7: Pierce Johnson --- ?? 8: Donnie DeWees -- ?? 9: Mark Zaguins -- ?? 10: Wilson Contreras -- key player on team 11: Dylan Cease -- now on our team 12: Eddy Martinez -- Not sure 13 Vogelbach -- Seattle minors 14 Eloy --- our top prospect now Honestly I think Almora could be better than average. That kid deserves an everyday opportunity.
  23. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 24, 2017 -> 11:29 AM) And Jones is no sure thing either. Not with his injury history and coming off nerve surgery. Along with Petricka.
  24. QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 24, 2017 -> 10:35 AM) CF - L. Garcia 2B - Moncada 1B - Abreu RF - A. Garcia DH - Delmonico 3B - Davidson LF - Cordell C - Iannetta SS - Anderson BE - Narvaez, Sanchez, Engel, Hanson/ W. Garcia SP - Rodon, Shields, Giolito, Lopez, Free Agent to flip when Kopech comes up RP - Jones, McGee, Putnam, Petricka, Minaya, Infante, Bummer I would try signing Jake McGee to a 3 year contract since the Sox dont have a shutdown lefty in the pen and see if they can get Iannetta for one season. He's currently 12th in framing, been solid defensively, has a .343 wOBA, and could bring a veteran presence for the young guys to work with. Ideally the FA SP they get would be a lefty, but I'd just look for someone you could flip at the deadline once Kopech is ready. The bench allows for a lot of versatility in the lineup with Narvaez and Sanchez hitting lefty. Putnam is already going to miss most (if not all) of next season.
