MLB investigating Padres for hiding health info
Bob Sacamano replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (SCCWS @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 02:50 PM) Just a reminder that Boston was hot for Shields before the deadline. But Boston press said Red Sox decided against it after seeing his overall drop in velocity on his fastball by I think 2 -3 Mph. It was also noted at the time he was giving up a lot of fly balls and Boston felt he would not be effective in Fenway. So I think if Boston saw he was struggling and passed on him, we don't have much to complain about. Exactly I'm not really sure we have a case as he has made all his starts while being here. But it can't hurt to try to get compensation for it -
MLB investigating Padres for hiding health info

Send us more money or send us Tatis Jr. back and I'm alright. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 10:22 AM) My deep dark hope was that he would eventually replace Steve Stone with Hawk for a year or two before Hawk retired. That would be a booth to listen to. Bennetti, Stone at home AJ, Hawk on the road? Yay or nay?
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 10:19 AM) Honestly, if AJ wants to be on a broadcast, he should immediately be a national guy working for Fox or MLB Network. He's already that good. Wasn't he doing work on Fox the last couple post-seasons? I'm sure he'll be back this year.

QUOTE (spiderman @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 06:26 PM) What else would Milwaukee be getting for Braun? I thought (but could be mistaken) that he was still a fan favorite in Milwaukee and that the owner liked him. Puig is rumored to be a horrible clubhouse teammate as well. Unless the Brewers are saving significant money and/or receiving 1-2 good prospects, what is the upside to making this trade for them? Deal would have been Puig, McCarthy (probably to help off-set money), and 2 prospects. Not a straight one for one. Was close to happening to point where Braun was waiting outside office for confirmation. Deal didn't happen because they ran out of time. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 01:06 PM) I'd love to see AJ as the manager. Think it's more likely he calls radio games or does pre/post game show on CSN. Give it a year or two.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 10:00 PM) Can you believe the Chicago Cubs are going to win the 2016 World Series? It's here and it's happening, folks. And if they win it, the Sox are irrelevant forever. It actually probably would be good for the Sox. To get our front office moving. Chicago is a championship city right now. The Hawks always win the Cup; the Sox won it in 05; the Bulls had the Jordan dynasty. it's crazy. Now the Cubs -- WS champs. It's going to be tough to stomach. You betting your house?

This will solve all the problems, reliever/DH

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 01:29 PM) The Sox were linked to him during the same offseason where they nabbed Abreu (they were linked to Tanaka too). Otani is not coming over to be a reliever, you put him in the rotation or get out of the (eventual) running. I think he's good enough to pitch in the majors now and the best baseball player in the world, not named Mike Trout. I don't think he was serious. -
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Sep 13, 2016 -> 11:00 PM) In September, they certainly do. Ventura refuses to let them bat. Heck, he couldn't get these guys an at bat in a blowout game like tonight. Hahn and Ventura operate in a different dimension dissociated with reality. People actually asking whether Ventura has save his job is highly suggestive that, indeed, this is about inflating win totals in garbage time. the question about saving his job should also be asked about Hahn. Who on the bench should have played yesterday? I'll give you Narvaez but catchers don't play everyday anyway.
-
Not a good game if you have Bauer in fantasy...like me.
-
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 13, 2016 -> 08:06 PM) Exactly. You are in these games to win. Plus how many guys do we have in the bench to evaluate? I dint see the major leagues as a learning level Exactly. There's no one on the bench who really should be playing.
-
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Sep 13, 2016 -> 07:38 PM) I just don't understand the philosophy of Ventura and Hahn to not empty the bench for these September games. They continue to play starters heavily in meaningless games. Eaton plays CF for whatever reason and the young guys sit. It's time for development. I can see Ventura being desperate and trying to inflate his win total. But Hahn, is either similarly desperate or too weak-kneed to do anything about it. Teams don't usually sit their starting players.

Zack Burdi not coming to Chicago this season
Bob Sacamano replied to Baron's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2016 -> 01:52 PM) Benetti talks to Burdi during the game last night. https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/775729523992113152 So he did come to Chicago this season!/green -
What about the fans that go occasionally and plan to go to Sale games? Wouldn't a portion of those fans adjust and see Quintana instead?
-
Going to Vegas soon and putting money on Kluber. Only because payout for Sale isn't good.

Still in it in my $200 entry league. -
QUOTE (reiks12 @ Sep 12, 2016 -> 11:47 PM) I have a hard time feeling sorry for athletes who are making millions of dollars while I slave at work, but if I was in Sale's shoes I know this franchise's futility would be eating me alive. I really hope he will be able to put some championship rings on his fingers whether if it is with the Sox or not. Yeah they play a game for a living. Way too hard to feel bad for abyone athlete. Its kind of just a term thrown around when something negative happens to said person (blown save, no playoff appearances, offense doesn't score enough).
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 11, 2016 -> 09:53 PM) I thought September trades were legal but players traded cannot be on playoff rosters. Didn't this happen last year with Tampa and another non-playoff team? Obviously the Red Sox wouldn't do it, but can't it happen? It can but Sale wouldn't get past Minnesota so it's a moot point.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Sep 11, 2016 -> 06:26 PM) http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2016/09/11/lev...with-white-sox/ The Red Sox sent executive Frank Wren to watch White Sox left-hander Chris Sale pitch against the Royals on Sunday That seems pretty serious. Hold onto your butts.

Jon Heyman: Sox have little interest in moving Sale or Quintana
Bob Sacamano replied to Kyyle23's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 01:54 PM) I can almost guarantee they won't be spending on a QO free agent. At least I hope not. It would be very short-sighted. They are in no position to give away 1st round draft picks That's not what I said. I'm not disagreeing with that point. We don't know that they are going to rebuild yet is what I was saying. -

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 11:19 AM) I doubt the Sox will be forfeiting a 1st round pick to sign anyone let alone Fowler or Desmond. They are selling. We don't know that 100% yet. -

QUOTE (Dunt @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 08:47 AM) B/c Seager is a legitimate MVP candidate and infinitely more valuable And controlled for what, 6 more years while Sale is 3 and Quintana 4m
