  1. My thoughts on possible comparisons and outcomes: Andrew Vaughn = Jake Burgur ....or Zack Collins CJ Abrams = Tatis Jr. It's all about talent evaluation. In a few years, we will see who is right.
  2. Most mock Draft boards have the Sox picking Andrew Vaughn at #3. I look at his videos and physically, he looks stocky and slow for a player his age, something like Jake Burgur. He doesn't have the athleticism to play anywhere but 1B or maybe just DH. Right now Rutschman is the consensus No.1 pick. No chance we will get him. I think Bobby Witt Jr. or C.J. Abrams will go at no. 2. My hope is that the White Sox/ Hostetler/ Kenny Williams, don't out-think themselves and take either Witt or Abrams, whichever one is still available at no. 3.
  3. I hope Bobby is no longer in pain and look forward to seeing him at another Sox Fest.
  4. We have a decent catcher that can hit, a potential star at ss and another at 3B. We have 2 or 3 solid starters, a setup guy and a Closer. We have flexibility with payroll. As Elwood said in the Blues Brothers: " There's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark out, and we're wearing sunglasses." I am as unsure about which direction this team is heading as the Blues Brothers were.
  5. Perhaps if Luis Roberts continues to hit over .400, with monster4 home runs, a few more 3 and 4 hit games with multiple extra base hits, he will be deemed "ready." Meanwhile, we have had to watch umpteen sorry at-bats from Palka. Engel and now Tilson. Oh, they are ready alright..... for then sh1tcan. Anyway, we already have Cordell and Leury Garcia and Delmonico so what is the point of adding another AAA back-up outfielder ? Shuffling the deck.....on the Titaniic.
  6. When Eloy returns; Eloy Jiminez - LF Luis Robert - CF Ryan Cordell - RF Yoan Moncada - 3B Tim Anderson- SS Leury Garcia - 2B Jose Abreu - 1B Alonso - DH James McCann - C -------- There aren't many holes in that line-up. I also think Eloy will get in a little bit better shape and improve in the outfield. Remember that eye-popping catch he made in the Futures game?
  7. Pitching shortcomings got magnified against a hot hitting Boston line-up. Hopefully things will eventually settle down a bit in our rotation and bullpen. Unfortunately we go to Cleveland next and they will have no mercy. Steve Stone tried to assuage fans that things will get better. Hang in there men.
  8. Luis Roberts last two games at Birmingham: 4 for 5 with a double. and today 3 doubles in one game. This after Robert was dominant at single A absolutely pulverizing the baseball. Bring him up and don't worry about the doubters and cynics. Hopefully, Eloy's ankle sprain heals enough so that he can at least DH pretty soon.
  9. Any chance Luis Robert replaces Engel ? We do need someone who can hit the baseball.
  10. It is hard to have pitching depth when you have so many injuries.
  11. Boston is probably the best team in baseball right now and we are one of the worst. Having acknowledged that, it was a shame to see us getting blown out a couple of times at home in front of nice crowds.
  12. On a positive note, McCann still looks good at the plate, a pleasant surprise so far this season. Reylo looked like he was a few mistakes away from a decent outing. Tim Anderson made some great plays. If we split the 4 game series with the heavily favored World champs I will be happy. Let's win another one tomorrow.
  13. We missed getting Benintendi by one slot in the Draft
  14. This game looks over but still two more games with a chance to split series.
  15. Vaughn would be another Nothing (Jake) Burgur or another Zack Collins.
  16. Nicky D's home run swing and reaction made me think of Pods walk-off in Game 2. Thrilling shit my friends. Pods Game 2 walk off
  17. FuckinAright Noticed some cubz fans at the park wearing BoSox hats.
  18. Another week of cold, wet weather which probably has hurt our pitchers more than our hitters. Will Gio's breaking stuff break like it does in warmer, dryer conditions? And no doubt about it, this awful weather has hurt attendance in April. Maybe put a retractable dome on the stadium or play most of the April schedule at stadiums located in warmer climates.
  19. Weather has been brutal.
  20. 2 games under .500 and in third place. I am not giving up on the season yet.
  21. His last surgery seems more like it was exploratory in nature rather than reconstructive, like Tommy John surgery. Maybe they could not find what was wrong and repair whatever the problem was. I don't know.... This feels like it might be the beginning of the end for Rodon's pitching career.
  22. Too many close losses to stomach so early in the season.
