Despite earlier indications by Jerry that he would prefer that his son Michael Reinsdorf not take over his ownership interest in the White Sox, I think that might be precisely what happens, just like the Halas family ownership interest in the Bears. Anyway, how much demand would there be for another Billionaire or ownership group to own the second team in the second city ? Any rumored offers for the team in the last decade ?

For all of his bad deals , Theo is a historically great GM because he put the finishing pieces on the Red Sox and Cubs World Series teams. Hmmm... If I was JR , I'd interview Theo and see how much he wants on a three year deal. No Rick, , EE , Mazara , Gio Gonzalez Kuechel, and Grandal, Cishek.. were not going to do it. Rick grew up a Cub fan and that job is now open, so this might be a perfect swap.

Jerry tried to do the right thing in his mind by hiring LaRussa. It was a mistake, but who hasn't made mistakes? Rich Fuking Hahn?

The best LaRussa could hope for would be to Manage with a zero-tolerace policy to drinking any alcohol. and that might be stretch. Tony will likely enter a plea of guilty to the misdemeanor charge and accept probation and a fine. Then the Sox will hire another Manager and all of us can STFU about this mess.

One the day prior to the announcement that he would be Manager, was Tony convicted or were charges just brought against him ?

The DUI case was filed on Oct. 28 -- one day before La Russa was officially hired by the White Sox. It is quite possible that Tony did not mention the possibility that he might be charged for DUI ( for an incidental that occurred 8 months previously) when he interviewed with the White Sox . Obviously LaRussa hoped that Maricopa County would not charge him after all that time went by. I would wait for the Sox to make an official announcement before drawing any more conclusions.

I would prefer to see what Vaughn could do over at least 100 at=bats in the majors before assessing his trade value. 100 is a small sample size but ) is smaller. I would also like to see his range at 1B on balls hit to either side and his ability to dig balls from TA out of the dirt or catch high throws. I would have liked to see him up this year, but a decision was made by somebody (probably Hahn and KW) to keep EE in the line-up and Vaughn in Schaumburg. If it was up to me I would consider trading Vaughn for a young starter. I like Zach Plesac. I would throw in another prospect, player or some money to make that trade...perhaps Collins or ReyLo. If that got done I would definitely try to sign McCann for three years and have a platoon DH with Grandal/McCann/ Abreu and occasionally Eloy.

No one is going to forget all of the Executive Orders that Trump signed including green lighting the Keystone Excel, building a useless wall with Mexico, etc. Trump made a lot of unilateral moves - he withdrew from the Paris climate accord, the Iran nuke deal, put forth a policy to discourage immigrants by separating them from their kids, rammed a reactionary Judge that speaks in tongues onto the Supreme Court days before the election. Republican think everyone forgot what has been going on the past 4 years . They thinks that since Trump will only lose by 5 Million votes or so, it is now time for moderation, or what they think are moderate positions. The first thing they mention is "No Medicare for All." They then couple that with the false assertion that al Democrats want to defund Police. Well, police departments will be funded and hopefully some reforms will be instituted. However, Democrats are going to seek to reform healthcare and expand Medicare. And Biden is going to reverse many of Trump's Executive orders and policies. Elections have consequences as Trump was fond of saying. Trump pushed ideological pendulum pretty far Right with executive orders, judicial nominations and his divisive rhetoric. Now it is going to swing back and in some cases swing back hard. Personally, I am not deeply invested in most partisan political issues (i.e., abortion rights, gun rights, ) but I admit to disliking Trump for what he said, what he did, and who he was. I am glad to see him go. His supporters are disappointed now, but many of them will soon understand that he is just a pos who was out for himself.

Biden won because he's not Trump, not because Americans are overwhelmingly clamoring for M4A, a Green New Deal, and so on. MFA won't come overnight, but Covid-19 and other factors like fewer jobs offering Health Insurance coverage will make that inevitable. Biden has already mentioned lowering the age for Medicare. That's step one toward going full boat MFA. The Green New Deal? Not all at once but most of Trump's short sighted policies that have wreaked havoc on the environment will be reversed. Fracking will be allowed but regulated to ensure that methane is not released in the air. No fracking on public lands. Protection of our aquifers instead of allowing oil pipelines to be built over them. Electric auto manufacture and purchase will be subsidized again instead of drilling for oil and fracking. Biden will probably look to get back in the Iran nuke deal, get on board with the Paris Agreement, and undo the damage with allies that Trump has done. It's a new day, Bono.

Biden has NOT been denied a progressive mandate. That is a false narrative by Fox Newser/Trumpers who point out that Democrats lost House and Senate seats. However, the small red wave was mainly in areas that already skewed red and benefited from Trump ginning up his base. Look for Biden to undo every Trump Executive Order. There will be comeuppance and it is right around the corner. Well it was a good fight.

The point, as always, is that TLR has failed as a leader since being hired. The election is over. Move on.

McCann doesn't care about being a "starting:" catcher. He just wants to make starting catcher money. If TLaR wants McCann, he will probably get signed here.

SSHM : Good points there. Concerning the decision they made to keep Vaughn down to not start the clock.. I am not in agreement with Hahn's decision to keep Vaughn in Schaumburg instead of letting him play. If he had played that could have established his value to the 2021 Sox or to other teams in a potential trade. Collins could have been brought up to get more at bats as well. Instead, he also remains something of an unknown quantity. Although it was not an option, think about the difference Kopech's value might be now if he had a decent season or even half of a season. Most of us were complaining that Mazara and EE kept getting at-bats. Steve Stone (at least on Twitter) panned the decision to keep running Mazara and EE out there. We know that decision was not entirely up to Renteria or maybe he just realized that a lot of money was spent on those players and he did not want to show up Hahn by benching his boys. So....given similar circumstances would TLaR feel that he has to put guys in the line-up who are under-performing just to kiss Hahn's ass?

I am concerned about Robert injuring himself when he runs full speed and dives for balls in the gaps. Its' fun to watch and important to the outcome of certain games, but, is it worth a possible injury that takes him out for weeks or months or for an entire season? I would rather see Robert limit his exposure to injury by holding up if he can't get to a ball on his feet, then just run it down and hit the cut-off man. I recall that Avi G adjusted his approach to balls hit in front of him after he injured himself on a dive....after his injury required surgery. The other possibility would be to try Robert in RF in Spring Training to see if he can take advantage of his strong arm while minimizing high speed, risky dives for balls in the gaps. Engel is decent defensively and showed that he can really smash the ball. I think he is too valuable to sit on the bench where Renteria had him all to often. At some point during the season Hahn should have admitted that he screwed up by signing Mazara and EE , then made some obvious moves to rectify those mistakes (bringing up Vaughn and Collins and telling Renteria it was fine to start Engel in RF). It may be that Renteria felt an obligation to the org. to keep sending Mazara and EE out there to help justify Hahn signing them to contracts. Hopefully there will be better coordination next season between the Manager and the FO.

How the General Manager take charge and arrange player interviews with Tony and sit in on them ?

Hahn should really be doing some player outreach since he already knows the players and their agents and can do the introductions. But no, he has a carmine derrier and ran for cover after Tony was signed. Oh poor me....a little Catholic self flagellation. You know what... maybe JR should fire Hahn and make Stoney the GM. It looks like that would make for a more coherent and cohesive organizational structure...at least at this point.

The Sox could have selected Kelenic instead of Madrigal in the Draft , Now you can't get Kelenic unless you give up a boat load of talent. The Sox should have released EE mid season and let Vaughn at least DH. If Vaughn raked...even for 20 or 30 games, he would at least have maximized his trade value.

I liked Jarred Kelenic as LH outfield prospect in the the Draft. He is a LH bat that can play Center or RF. I would trade Vaughn plus Kopech (or Vaughn plus Cease and Collins) for him. I also still like Benintendi, even though his value has diminished some. Either one could thrive in the White Sox line-up.
