  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 01:27 PM) I couldn’t disagree more. Yoan has a the hard part down: he understands the strike zone. Many prospects, and many current Sox players, for that matter, do not understand the strike zone/see pitches nearly as well. Secondly, when he does make contact, he’s crushing balls. Clearly he has some swing and miss to his game, and that is always going to be the case. However, I think the funk he’s in is just one where he’s trying to stay true to his approach a bit too much, in the face of the League making adjustments to that approach. He’s getting behind in the count far too often, because he has a tendency to look at the first pitch. From there, he just struggles because he’s so often 0-2, 1-2. I think yesterday’s first PA was perfect. He needs to be ready to jump on that first pitch if its grooved right in the zone until the League stops doing that. Just that adjustment alone I think would have major positive consequences. Does he though? He gets lots of walks, yes! But he also strikes out looking more than stevie Wonder would.
  2. I said 65 from the beginning and I still love the #/.. I never understood people thinking we'd be significantly better than last year. No Quintana, Robertson, Kahle, Swarzak, Frazier, Melky and whoever else for half a year. If we hit 70 wins that would be great. But the only way to judge if this is a successful season is the improvement from the young guys. Primarily the ones we need to be good (yoan, Anderson, gio, lopez, and the many many prospects in the minors).
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 11:13 AM) For a .240 player that doesn't hit 40 bombs to be "not useful" they would need to be: - Bat only - Have no baserunning value This is why it's so crazy to be this fatalistic about Moncada this early in. He has so many plus tools any one of them could be used to pull him into "good" territory. And if the hit tool develops into average, he suddenly becomes "very good". We may find that his hit tool is so off he is never an MVP player. That sucks. But man, there is a lot of baseball left to be played. Justin Smoak and Yonder Alonso 8 years into their careers suddenly became very useful players. You don't want that for Moncada, but there are good signs with him. If it takes him 8 years to figure it out, he won't be on the Sox when he does..
  4. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 10, 2018 -> 02:21 PM) I really don't think he'd do any better as a LHH vs LHP. Give him more time as a righty. In the past, he has been better from the right side than the left. Can you show me the stats? I was never ever under the impression that he was a good RH hitter. I could be wrong.. but.. prove it
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 10, 2018 -> 02:10 PM) Exit velocity doesn't matter if you don't make contact My exact point. IDK why he is still switch hitting.. I don't care how young he is. He needs to go complete lefty.
  6. HAHAHAHAHAHA Delete this post now before your friends see it
  7. Moncada K's more than I blink.
  8. Saladino went downhill as soon as he decided to grow that god-awful mustache
  9. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 08:54 PM) Agreed, but it would be nice if his ISO was above .100. What is ISO? I know its a newer stat but what does it take into account and what does it mean?
  10. You're fooling yourself if each and everyone one of us isn't at least a little concerned over Moncada..
  11. With the bat that Beer has he will go top 10.. I wouldn't even hate it if the Sox reached and took him at 4. He's that good of a hitter. He won't last past 10 despite his defensive... shortcomings?
  12. Jose Abreu gets traded to the Rockies On July 24.
  13. I was wondering what happened... I thought I lost yall forever
  14. I Love Cease. I've been saying for the past year (yes before he was even with us) that he is going to make a Kopech like jump in prospect rankings. Hope I'm right!
  15. Of course Fulmer and Rodon are over hyped.
  16. I was guessing torn achillies.. Guess we will find out
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 21, 2018 -> 07:43 PM) Robin Ventura 32 6.4 33 1.6 34 2.3 35 3.4 36 1.6 37 0.1 Retired Worth 9 exactly war his last 5 seasons. Did you just compare Josh Donaldson to Robin Ventura?? HAHAHAH
  18. 73 sounds about right to me.
  19. Sign Moustakas to 4 years/55 Million. Then next year try and get Machado and move Moustakas to 1b
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 16, 2018 -> 02:15 PM) 670 The Score‏Verified account @670TheScore 2h2 hours ago Lucas Giolito and Tim Anderson are emerging as leaders for the White Sox, writes @MLBBruceLevine: http://cbsloc.al/2GhknlG fantastic
  21. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Feb 16, 2018 -> 08:38 AM) For those of you that follow these specific Sox prospects, can you give MLB comps for the following: Jimenez Dunning Kopech Hanson Robert Eloy to me = Jermaine Dye. Kopech = Syndergaard
  22. I am with Law on Singer. I cannot for the life of me see of find out why he is viewed as a top 5 pick.. I don't get it.
  23. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Feb 8, 2018 -> 12:37 PM) I wouldn't want to lose a draft pick to sign Moustakas, especially for a 1-year deal. you only lose the pick if you sign him to greater 50 million
