  • This is just an unbelievably ignorant post. I don’t know at all if this Moncada stuff is legit, but if you haven’t had serious mental health issues or known someone who has, you shouldn’t just pretend

  • Who the f*** does Bruce Levine think he is? I get hearing the rumor and digging deep to find truth to it, but until you actually KNOW FOR A FACT that Moncada does have "ADD," I probably wouldn't run w

  • It’s pretty BS to “out” someone’s mental health issues without that person’s consent, especially when it’s just hearsay, and ESPECIALLY when it could potentially affect the person’s employment opportu

It's Bruce Levine. Take anything he says with a TON of salt. Let's get more reliable confirmation of this first.

He had better hope he is right about the ADD because that isn't something you want to be wrong about.

I heard what he said live on the radio this morning. He basically said he has trouble focusing and going spacey in the field, and then the host of the show mentioned ADD and I think Bruce alluded to hearing something along those lines, but didn't explicitly say Moncada has been diagnosed, but rather the Sox feel he acts like he has it in the field.

He likened it to Starlin Castro. And this was all in reference to his defense.

Is there some weird correlation between having ADD and playing 3B? Very confused

I think they could mean that he has less tasks to do at 3b than 2b.

2b has to think a little more on the field

I dunno I guess.  At 3B you better be ready for rockets

Honestly cant think of any big mental mistakes he has made at 2nd..

The world passed Levine by a decade ago. How he's employed anywhere is beyond me. Putting stock into anything he says is unwise

I don’t think what Levine said was so bad. We speculate about players all the time. Did Gordon Wittenmyer get slammed when he speculated the same thing about Starlin Castro?

Yeah, that's where this lost me.

I agree. I think he was trying to correlate positional thinking system required between 2B (analytical system of brain) and 3B (instinctive system) with attention span (shoutout to Daniel Kahneman's Thinking Fast and Slow). Its a legitimate point but was poorly expressed.

Based on Moncada’s social media posts, I would hope the team starts encouraging a healthy diet. He along with Robert eat like crap.

You can treat adult ADD with medication or diet changes

What types of diet changes??

Protein especially at breakfast. I attended a conference where an expert in the field of ADD and ADHD reported on the medical studies. There were other things also

I heard pitching analyst Eno Sarris on a podcast this year observe that Reynaldo Lopez has frequent lapses of focus and could have ADD. He said Adderal treatment has helped many players. There are currently over 100 exemptions to players for ADD.

There is a lot of circumstantial evidence out there that a good chunk of those are basically a backdoor for players to get stimulants with the banning of speed.

I could actually see a case for Lopez having it because he always says in interviews that his issue in starts is his focus, which would easily correctable for a pro athlete

Which is odd because because it can have the opposite effect on people without true ADD.

Actually it’s the person with ADD that gets the paradoxical calming effect from the Aderall. For non-ADD people it is a stimulant.

Is this a recent diagnosis?  Anyway, it's very treatable, unless the treatment is banned.
Thought his D at 2b was pretty good.  Liked the way he turned 2.
I guess this means they'll go after Harper.

Yes. His point was that 3B is reactionary, but 2B you have to worry about being a cut-off man, covering 1B, covering 2B on a steal, etc. So he theorizes that 3B requires less thinking.

I wan Moncada at 3B anyway, so if that's the excuse, then fine by me.

Has anyone noted that this seems to be a completely inappropriate disclosure even if it's true and that it should be considered private medical information if true as it isn't an injury?
