RT @BNightengale: The #Whitesox wish list is to sign Machado and Harper, just like #Phillies

Thought so

I wasn’t accusing you of being the same person, you clearly understand what a comma is.  I was referring your recent string of completely irrational posts.

It’s interesting that Peavy44 stops posting for the night and Caulfield comes right in to take his place.

Maybe I’m being naive, but it’s not like Hahn and Manny’s agent haven’t talked. I have a very hard time thinking this was done just to increase the chance by 1%. If this was any other team getting Yonder, we would have locked the thread for manny

Yeah but how do you ever live down offering the most money, bringing in family, and still getting rejected?

Sox have def opened themselves up to massive ridicule and criticism if they do not get one of Harper and Machado.

So someone has pointed out that Palka seriously outhit him last year already right? Anyway, sign his in-law or blah.

Watching Cleveland this offseason has been fascinating.

That front office can run rings around the White Sox...not even close.

They still have a hole at catcher (Perez/Haase), which means they end up with Grandal, Puig/Peterson, Santana and huge payroll flexibility.

We might as well give them Colome, too.

Heck, they might as well sign Machado or Harper.

I did, about 5 posts up from this one.  ?

This also saves the Sox $7-$8 million if Abreu is traded, allows them to get prospect or ML value (if Abreu can still net it) and who knows, it’s not outside the realm of possibility that he produces similar value to Abreu.

Would feel more confident with Ozzie Guillen courting Machado than this train wreck.

Ah gotcha, 2nd half of the line and it's friday night and my eyes hurt. Thanks.

Surprisingly he was in the positive in DRS at 1B.

Worst Friday rumor dump ever

Cue the Machado/Belle comparison stories to start popping up everywhere.

You move onto the next crop. Hopefully the organization looks more appealing by then...

I said the same thing. Great minds think alike Tony.

I'm personally partial to his career -1200 DRS/year at 2b and kinda want to experience this...

Alonso is a substantially better defender than Abreu.

But yeah, this means Palka has to *gulp*

play the

field...

!

This is either going to end up a genius trade or terrible...either Machado or the front office is collecting middling talent as a crappy way to “compete”

This last part is probably true, but also it just seems like anytime you sign family it’s just a “goodwill” gesture. The idea that this is some amazing recruiting strategy seems to overshoot it. Seems kinda desperate to me.

I agree but if means so much then why didn’t the Phillies do it?

I need to know the corresponding move.

Palka... Delmonico... one of those guys has to go, I think.

Some people are crazy on here. This should make people optimistic.

Thought the same until I saw that video. Yonder seems like his mentor.

The Sox have room for him. The Phillies, not so much.

Hahn hasn’t shown he is a great GM, but he is a bright guy. To think they just made this trade just  hoping it may move the needle with Machado would be hard to believe. IMO, if this doesn’t work, they should be banned from playing anything but circus music at GRF in 2019.

This is for Manny, I would say.

How would dumping Abreu for a B prospect and a lesser hitter than Palka help to secure Machado?

That would mean the majority of our best hitters from what was already a pretty bad offense would be gone (Abreu, Narvaez, Davidson, Smith, Avi).
