What would it take to get Nolan Arenado?

Featured Replies

It's just like 5 years ago with all of the "trade all the prospects for Cargo"  nonsense and in the aftermath of the  clownish Frazier trade.
Some are far more interested in "stars" than in the Sox actually contending consistently.
This would be a disaster.

So we can all bash this MLBIntel guy all we want but when Stone does, he's being a jerkface? He's not wrong. This is lazy, asinine "reporting" by a lowlife loser.

Cmon...  Stone is angrily ranting at Sox fans like a clown just because some guy on Twitter posted a bogus rumor.  How many bogus rumors are posted on Twitter daily?

Good luck with your never-ending battle against fake Twitter posts, Steve.  Maybe next, you can solve the age-old riddle of which came first, the chicken or the egg?

To be fair, old people yelling at the internet is pretty amusing.

I've heard him talk about the Twitter stuff on the Score before and he truly believes he's owning "the trolls".

Tomorrow — “Arenado’s agent and Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf could not agree on waiving Arenado’s opt-out clause after the 2021 season in exchange for an additional year in 2027 and $26 million added to his contract.  Arenado will remain with the Rockies.”

The more "details" these idiots provide the less likely it is to happen.

I mean you gotta keep throwing crap against the wall until something sticks eventually

Why would the sox even do this?

If it is a Colorado salary dump it makes sense.

It is not a salary dump and thus makes no sense.

The chicken because the egg needs to be sat on in order to hatch. Without the chicken it would've never hatched. Duh

We are all bashing this twitter guy and also secretly hoping it’s somehow true, right???

Not really.

Do what?  Trade for Arenado?  Dude is awesome and would definitely be something to pursue at the right price.  The challenge is he’s paid handsomely and has an opt-out in two years, so you can’t overpay.  I would definitely trade say Madrigal + Stiever for him (doubt the Rockies do that) and not have second thoughts.  Think about this lineup for a second:

  1. Robert, CF
  2. Moncada, 2B#
  3. Arenado, 3B
  4. Jimenez, LF
  5. Grandal, C#
  6. Abreu, 1B
  7. Encarnacion, DH
  8. Anderson, SS
  9. Mazara, RF*

Not at all.

Arenado rumors are 99.9% chance BS.

1) Arenado has a full NTC

2) Sox are not adding a massive contract to the payroll at this stage of the offseason, heavy lifting was already done

3) This would likely cost some combination of Vaughn/Madrigal/Stiever/etc. and I do not see the Sox up what limited farm resources we have

4) Arenado's splits away from Coors raise concern

5) This flat out is not happening

Someone actually believes this guy. That's the saddest part.

The problem is there really isn't any good reason to do this. Depending on what the Rockies want, you're talking a rebuild destroying trade here.

Hahn's wiser to just hold tight. He rebuilt huge portions of this team and has yet to see any of it on the field.

hahaaa...good Lord.

No need to worry, the update is Arenado is torn about leaving and if he turns down the trade, the management he was just ripping for doing nothing, told him they will do nothing with him this year. How nice.

I wonder if JR will be meeting with Mike Trout next.

New update from that guy, FYI. Backpedaling a little!

it's all fake but out of boredom i'll post ...

would be unwise to trade for arenado when you could've just acquired rendon for the same price, but not give up prospects.

however, if you did give up madrigal, it actually isn't terrible since you'd have moncada at 2b and arenado at 3b. no real need for him at that point.

everyone in this thread should participate in this q and a
