White Sox Sign Robert to Extension

Featured Replies

Eloy is not going to preclude the White Sox from signing big money guys.  Yoan, Gio and Anderson can cost the White Sox large sums of money as they have skill-sets that can cost a team an uncomfortable amount of money.

  • Cool but who fucking cares

  • Really happy for James Fox / Y2Jimmy getting the credit he deserves. I don't have to tell anyone on this site but the man has paid his dues and put the work in. Good on Passan.

  • "Sox are gonna be good" by Passan just made my third leg move a little.

On 670 they are talking about the manager. That's one of the bigger question marks now. Rick and his horrible lineups.

I think the Sox could find a way to get Moncada done, although the numbers would likely be eye popping.

And very likely worth it.

I can't wipe this grin off my face.

Please please please wear a stupid number like 0, 68 or 97

They just said the Sox are the only team in Chicago with their arrow pointed up.

Cue the Guaranteed Rate logo jokes...

I know this is off topic but God I want Mookie Betts in RF.

Offer Boston Vaughn, Dunning, Mazara and Basabe for Betts. Sign Betts to a 7 year $245 extension.

A guy can dream, can't he?

Allow me to pick my jaw up off of the floor.

6/$50 + 2 options. oh my goddamn thats a steal. Hello most dynamic prospect in the whole org under team control for 8 years.

I believe he's stated he wants to wear 88.

Nah, give that money to Moncada and Giolito and hope either Mazara booms or a guy like Adolfo pans out.

Nice move, so I guess they won’t be trading him for Arenado. Great!?

Never doubt a fake Steve Cishek account

Do you guys think they’ll do something similar for Madrigal?

I'd say unlikely

Maybe, if it is very team friendly. I don't think we need Magical the first month to be honest. I also don't think he is talented enough of a hitter to warrant the risk.

I don’t even think it’s necessary. Just put him up opening day if they think he’s ready.

$76 million dollars guaranteed without ever playing a major league game.  Good for Robert and good for the Sox.

Yeah, one thing I truly find fascinating about this organization is their risk assessment; Jerry is more comfortable guaranteeing someone like Robert, who has never played a big league game, nearly 100 million dollars total, than he is doling out long term deals for veterans. I think the logic here is that Hahn has shown that he succeeds doing this, and Jerry is happy to accept that risk because their is a big potential reward for it. FA contracts really don't have huge possible rewards as they are almost always paid market value. A guy like Robert may actually end up being worth 200 million so Jerry will take the shot on him. It's interesting how they assess risk, and to be honest it's honestly something the White Sox might be the best in all of baseball at doing.

Nope. There is no reason to. Still need to see how his skill-set plays in the bigs. And this is coming from a Madrigal optimist.

If it’s for about half of what Robert is getting then go ahead and do it

They did bring up a good point,  with the talent now maybe the lineups will no longer be an issue.
