  • Guys, bmags has made me more confident that an agreement is coming than I have ever been

  • Lots of people care, actually. I want to see this White Sox team play baseball. I also don't want to see friends in many industries like radio, tv, advertising, media, scouting etc fired because there

If any team knows how to handle 8k a game, its the White Sox.

So the union wins big. They still get 60 games (not 48) plus keep their grievance rights and deny owners the most profitable part of the earlier bargain which is the playoff expansion.

Knowing this, it's hard for me to understand why they should've accepted this

Well Manfred has to offically mandate a 60 game season.  Anything less and he opens up grounds for a grievance which the owners obviously want no part of.  Like I said tons of pressure on Manfred.

If they don’t at least try, there are then problems with the 2021 season due to the virus again and, after all that, acrimonious CBA discussions, the economic foundation/viability of the sport will shaken for at least 10-12 and potentially half the ownership groups.

Zero sum game.

So folks have speculated WHO might win a grievance, but what is the actual outcome if the players DO win a grievance? What do they get and what does it do, and likewise what's the impact if they lose it?

I know James and others disagree, but I want no part of a 60 game season where it’s not a matter of if, but when, a team has to take two weeks off due to an outbreak.

The expanded playoffs, which included 2020 and 2021, was a minimum 14 games a season. That could have been sold. A universal DH could have meant more money being spent on players. Plus, it could have helped the sports public perception and an agreement could have been used as a springboard for the new CBA. But I won’t blame the players. Their 70 games had no chance, but the owners could have done the right thing and shown some grace and gone to 64 or 65, and let both parties save a little face over this fiasco.

Unpopular and bad. They've been laying the groundwork for the next cba negotiations for weeks now.

By keeping the grievance, players won this.

*Disclaimer that Bob is accurate

Can’t the owners just cancel the season due to health reasons?  Is Bob accurate here?

NBA playoffs were/are supposed to start the following weekend and NHL training camps around July 10th...so at least they’re theoretically beating both those sports out of the gate.

#FingersCrossed

88 days after the march agreement the owners are finally readyy to move forward under the terms.  The players are so going to win their grievance.

Would still be pretty stunned if 60 games actually happened

Man, I just really don’t think this is worth it. We have pretty much zero idea what the long term effects of this is, and whether or not players will be the same after recovering. Because they aren’t going to get 60 games in.
