Heuer just couldn't keep control at that intensity for that long. He started missing there, missed the first couple pitches of the next at bat, missed out over the plate on the HR and that one burned him. 

That’s what happens when you don’t have a 3rd starter. We have to use the bullpen. Hahn not acquiring a pitcher at the deadline and Kopech opting out is looming large now.

That's the problem with having 2 mlb pitchers in your starting rotation.  Bullpen games just don't normally work.  Hope last inning wasn't an indication that we put our bats away for the day.

I vocally disagree with RR's decisions a lot but I am fine with him giving Heuer the chance there. Codi has been nails all season, he was only at 25 pitches, and we still have sooooo many innings to cover. It was either give Heuer the chance or burn your last reliable bullpen arm in Foster. Tough decision.

It's an elimination game. Anyone who isn't an ace is going to have a short leash.
