Am I the only one that doesn't really want Cruz on this team? Yes, he's been ridiculous and very good (especially against the Sox), but he's 40 years old. At some point he's not going to be able to ke

Maybe I'm not giving Vaughn enough credit but would signing Cruz for 1 year really be "blocking" Vaughn? I wouldn't think he was going to be in the bigs this year anyway with only 1 year in single A prior to

Yeah, the seemingly common assumption he is just gonna come right up this year (and mash, too) is actually becoming very irritating to me. No 1 year DH is "blocking" Vaughn from anything. FFS.

Hope it all goes well and I am wrong truly I do. Hope we don’t trade for burnes and buy and keep our assets. We will see . I will be happy if that comes true , but this org is either changing nutty or it’s the same. 50/50.

Oh wait, he’s legit suggesting we’re signing Cruz?

Cruz would make the White Sox line up elite.  To go with an elite pen and a very solid 1-2-3 TOR.

That's World Series material right there.

He's gonna fall hard if this falls through. He has to leave twitter and come back in a new form.

Let's get that lineup up with Cruz in it!!! Let's Go!

Yep. If we can't bring in another top flight starter then just sign Cruz to DH and take a flyer on Archer.

He could come back as a Chicago themed food account, it's all the rage these days.

Somebody challenge Hector to a ban bet.

As far as I'm concerned,  if  the Sox sign Cruz he is a 40 year old just hitting his prime. Anyone else signs him, he is an obvious raging roider.

I mean Cruz for 1 year with Vaughn in the wings is honestly a dream scenario. Hoping Hector is right on this one

Yeah, I’m 100% all for Cruz!  I get the argument for signing someone like La Stella who offers more versatility, but Cruz isn’t your average DH, he’s a legit game-changer.  I can’t believe aren’t getting more hyped over this!

I hate going down these roads that are unlikely, but....

If the Sox are to sign Cruz, that would likely mean they are picking up a SP for very little cash, right? Because we assume they are getting close to being tapped financially. Burnes makes very little cash. The only problem with this equation is - if Madrigal is in the deal, the Sox would need money for LaStella too.

He gets sad when people talk badly about him. Just tell him we will be mad at him and never believe him ever ever ever again in life.

It makes total sense unless it prevents us from adding a starter mid tier starter.  Giving Vaughn a year in the minors isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

I really hope it's only a one year deal if true. I don't see how we could afford Cruz next year and extend/resign Lynn for $18M+.

Or: if anyone else signs Cruz he continues to mash, and if the Sox do he falls off a cliff.

If they get cruz...mendick and leury would be just fine

Hypothetically, would you guys prefer Cruz for like $12 million and a guy like Archer for $3 million or Garrett Richards for $8 million and La Stella for $7 million?

Those are good questions.  Could be what fathom is suggesting and they plan on dealing Vaughn++ for Burnes.  Or perhaps Jerry is a little more optimistic about potential fan attendance and is willing to spend a little more to fit Cruz into equation.  Even way, he’d be a massive addition for the 2021 season.

I'm not buying it. If the Sox have that money to spend,  they should spend it on pitching.

Cruz Archer IMO.
