Our bad defense has nothing to do with the obvious fact we needed at least one more solid SP. There is zero correlation between those 2 things.

Kopech might and will be one of the 5 starters next season. Crochet may be worked in next season. They were not signing a multi-year contract with anyone with hopes of Cease improving and them being in the future... and should they have? Bauer was the only real option, and that wasn't happening.

There’s no reason they couldn’t have signed Odorizzi and Cruz to take control of the division at least.
