Luis back, Crochet IL, Mendick 27th man

Per Sox Twitter.

Crochet upper back issue.

Send him down to stretch out now please

Mendick just needs to stay, period.

At least its not the arm or shoulder with Crochet.

Agreed. Leury needs to be dropped because he’s terrible. They can get by with a bench of Collins, Engel, Mendick as primary backups for C/OF/IF.

Horray! Booo!! Meh?

That’s my hope too. I get they’ll need his arm late in the season, but I’d rather see him go every 5th day if that’s the long term plan.

He has a long way to go to be a starter. Command isn't there and needs to throw his slider and change more because his fastball hasn't been as effective this year.

The way Crochet goes down injured makes me wonder if the Sox sent him down to stretch out to be a starter, would he ever make it back?

No, its most likely a scapular stabilizer. A global muscle not the small glenohumeral stabilzer that cause shoulder issues.

Not this year. He would be done by July with his innings.

It's just another way to limit his innings so he can pitch late in the season and into the playoffs.

uh, no, not really.

I have felt that Crochet was used on the big league to simply mange him until AAA starts and use that big arm when needed.

That has not worked.  Send him to AAA and maybe add him in September.

Tony wants Hamilton and Lamb as well. You can have an argument for Hamilton as a fifth OF based on defense and PR, and go with 13 pitchers, but there is no valid argument for keeping Lamb, or batting Hamilton late in a game when you are losing.

2020-2021 fWAR

  • Engel 0.7 (36 Games)
  • Mendick 0.6 (41 Games) <= Hasn't "earned playing time" or even a regular roster spot under La Russa

"Earned playing time" per Tony La Russa's "gut"

  • Hamilton 0.2 (40 games)
  • Garcia 0.1 (31 Games)
  • Lamb -0.1 (37 Games)
  • Williams -1.1 (71 Games - 2019 & 2021) <= He's still around in Schaumburg

Time for Hahn to man up and administer probiotics to the active roster.

I had an issue with my crapular stabilzer.  A little Imodium and I was fine.

Take it with prune juice.

A little miralax goes a long way as well.

I agree...stretching is very important when you have back issues.

I wonder if we’ll see a couple different “back strains” this year with Crochet and Kopech. Wouldn’t be a terrible idea.
