but he isn't really responding to that lol... he is saying that yermin intentionally ignored the sign.

nice try though.

He’s respond to a guy saying that Tony never gave a sign and this whole thing is based off a lie - so no, not nice try.

Tony gave a sign, Yermin missed it.  Accept that and we can go from there.

no that's what YOU are saying.

That is not what Tray is saying.. go back and re-read.

He is saying that yermin intentionally ignored the sign in some fashion.. which is not the same as missed it.

Do you accept that TLR gave a sign and Yermin missed it?

You’re both living in conspiracy world.

LoungeGate is only a “Gate” at all because it involves LaRussa.  Might as well have a dedicated LaRussa Scandal thread so that we’re not inundated by threads about Tony not tipping his waiter, his dog biting somebody in the neighborhood, etc.

If enough people talk about LaRussa's dog biting somebody, sure.

It should be pretty obvious to any moral person why this is so offensive.

The people like the food service workers, vendors, attendants, cleaning crews, security guards, etc. make the park a place to go.  These people all come first, even below the players.  The actual chain of importance is essential facility support workers > players > front office staff > ownership.  Literally, no single person would ever attend a ballpark if there weren't security guards or bathroom cleaning staff.  Then after that comes the food service workers, etc.  MiLB baseball is proof that you can still draw fans to a baseball game even if nobody in attendance knows any of the players on the field or gives a fuck about either team, the score, or who wins or loses.

So these people are pretty important.  They are paid the least of all and a tiny fraction of what the players, FO and ownership all make.  They do thankless work and are rarely recognized for anything.

What is important here is gesture that the sign naming is supposed to represent.  The dorf is a POS scumbag to me regardless, but it's at least a nice gesture to make a statement that these workers are important, whether the Sox org actually treats these people decently compared to others in sports or not.  The sign being named after a concessions worker is a statement that these people are actually important.  It's fine to change the name to another concession worker, or name it after all of the concession workers, or name it after some long-time security guard or something like that, etc., as long as it is still being used as a gesture to pay homage to this level of worker.  But withdrawing that gesture and naming it after yet another player/manager/coach/owner etc. like everything else is a scumbag move and completely unnecessary.  It's basically saying "We really don't think it is important to pay tribute to this class of ballpark employee anymore."  That's the statement they are making whether anyone involved is of enough moral status to be aware of it or not.

The TLR is a totally different side of this.  It doesn't matter who they named it after.  You can name any other unnamed part of the park after TLR if you really think you need to, or you can name it after TA or Abreu, or someone else, and that is fine.  But taking down a sign that stands as a statement of appreciation for the lowest-paid class of ballpark employee to name that area after any of those guys is a scumbag move.

As an aside, I bet if you asked around the clubhouse privately whether the players thought this was a dirty move and were for or against it, overwhelmingly it would be considered dirty and overwhelmingly they would be against it.

Good lord any room in heaven after your induction?

This is absolutely true. If it was The Big Hurt Lounge no one is outraged.

Here’s my take.  The Sox are getting ridiculed for taking this sign down, but at the end of the day how many teams have a section in their park named after a concessions worker?  Like they are only getting ripped because they did something that was both pretty awesome and uncommon in the first place.  Seems like the Sox should have handled this transition better with the family though.  I totally get fans ripping the execution of this and the fact it’s somehow La Russa who is the replacement provides even worse optics at the moment, but this move doesn’t warrant outrage as the Sox shouldn’t feel compelled to keep that sign up forever IMO and at least have a plaque elsewhere to honor Loretta.  It’s no doubt a shitty look for an organization that loves it’s PR blunders, but it’s not as horrible as some are making it out to be.

This is a very good take. The White Sox have a history of doing things in a clumsy way. But there are other things to be more concerned about. At least Loretta was recognized for a time. Some organizations never recognize their employees.

I think it was a classless move.  You just don't take back something freely given IMO.

What in the world does the question of a sign being missed, ignored, given or lied about have to do with plotting secretly to commit crimes?

Wow.  Thats just disgusting.

Where are all the folks on here who said the name change outrage has NOTHING to do with TLR?

Its just amazing how Sox fans would rather see their own manager fail than the team succeed.

This asinine statement has been posted multiple times since last October. I have not read a single post on this forum by anyone stating they want the Sox to lose, or are rooting against the White Sox, because it means Tony also loses. Perhaps the Tony bots can read these secret messages via their tin foil hats.

This never happened, no Sox fan here wants the Sox to lose. Many want Tony gone, but they want the team to succeed despite the fact Tony is here, and for the team to overcome the dumbass decisions and confusion about the rules of MLB he has made over the first several weeks.

To say otherwise is as dishonest as Tony was after his first DUI arrest, when Tony stated this would never occur again.

Quote

In March 2007, while at spring training with the Cardinals, La Russa was arrestedfor DUI in Jupiter, Fla. He reportedly tested at a blood alcohol level of 0.093, above the legal threshold. “I accept full responsibility for my conduct, and assure everyone that I have learned a very valuable lesson and that this will never occur again,” La Russa said in a statement released by his attorney, David Roth. La Russa did not appear in court to plead guilty.

Yes, wearing a shirt with someone’s mug shot and inmate number is in poor taste. It’s done solely to belittle the person. People should lift others up, not kick others when they’re down. TLR was wrong for the DUI but two wrongs don’t make a right.
