Imagine being a manager and knowing you have 5 fresh relievers and 1 who hasn't been successful on back to back and pitched yesterday and say to yourself, let's go get the former in the biggest moment

We can still win this series. We just have to score more runs than Houston and you can take that to the bank

  • Let’s GO! Lots of pressure on Houston. They need to win one of the next three if they want to force a game 5.

Welp. This one is on Tony. Just comically bad pen management. Horrible.

Bummer gets fuckloads of groundballs, problem is most of them are hit hard as fuck.

I feel like this team had far better positioning under Ricky, let alone bullpen performance.

This team needs Ventura. He actually positioned pretty well from what i remember. But yes - this is glaring and the club is getting crushed by the little things which go pretty significantly in the analytics.

I don’t think any decision Tony makes has worked out. Hed be better off drunk or asleep like the regular season

More awful positioning.  It’s like they’re wrong on every hit

What is our advance scouting budget?  Have a feeling Top Ten posters at Sox Talk could strategize spray charts better...

So what changes do we want to see made in the offseason?

Start with the manager.

that's game

Look! Blind squirrel found a nut!

Now is about the time we need Jason and Steve to start making excuses for the team.  Where are they?

Sox will go 1-2-3  next inning

Now Kimbrel coming in, instead of starting the inning. Tony pushing all the wrong buttons.

As he's done all year.  Except now its obvious when it matters most.

Here comes the icing on the cake.

I'm curious what the spray charts look like for Houston. Are they just getting supremely lucky hitting against the shift? Or are the Sox ignoring super valuable data?

We didn't even shift there against a lefty who I am sure pulls the ball more, if Anderson is up the middle that is a DP

At any point did the Sox consider having the 2B or SS PLAY UP THE MIDDLE!

Doesn't matter. If they did, the ball would have found the vacated spot anyways. All the luck is going the Astros' way right now.

maybe next year the Sox will study a scouting report

TLR gone for starters, but there's only one person's vote that matters.

NO FUCKING SHIFT?

I know there’s a man on 3rd but you can still shift the middle infielders. Am I crazy?

Lefty power in RF, Kimbrel traded, new 2B, look to trade either Vaughn or Eloy

With Bummer pitching, I'd be tempted to play a 5th IF right behind 2B and go with 2 outfielders.

Tony gone? Rest of the staff too?

Game ain’t over, but need to get out of this down just one.  Kimbrel needs to get the job right now.

The positioning is the reason for all the runs.  It's crazy.

I would not be shocked (regardless of outcome of this playoffs) that LaRussa is done after this year (win or lose).

Astros have continued to apply the pressure throughout the game. Sox just have so many easy outs.
