What do we think he got? 2 years and 20 million? 2 years and 18 million?

  • The funny thing is I guarantee other team fan bases hate their bullpen and wish their GM spent money on bullpen guys like the WSox.

Just... exhausting. Hahn won't stop spending his assets on Relief pitchers. it's honestly amazing.

How many years in a row are Sox fans going to fall for this nonsense. Each of the last two years we had threads created about how unstoppable the White Sox bullpen was going to be. The best bullpen in

2 of the last 3 years Joe Kelly has been on World Series teams and won. Maybe he is our good luck charm. :)

Plus he hates the Astros and vice versa.

I think we’re going to get a nice haul for Kimbrel.

Has anyone gotten a price here? If he got $10 million and JH got $5.5 then they have less than $20 million under the tax line, $15 more realistically.

You can’t possibly still think they’re keeping Kimbrel

It's more likely than not that they used the Kimbrel $ to sign these 2 guys.

The signing is fine, but money really does matter here. With volatile bullpens this one could look terrible this year and amazing in 2023. I really do like his fire and passion (cliche, i know) and the postseason experience is very nice.

I cant believe some of you bitching about too many good arms in bullpen.

This is a good signing.

Kimbrel is getting traded for another asset soon

LaRussa just said  that Kimbrel will be on the White Sox Opening Day roster.

Let me be one of the only ones on this thread to say that even with this signing, I think the Sox will not trade Kimbrel for now.

Why not?

1.  His value is too low.  Any trade would be mostly a salary dump, not netting the Sox much of anything in return.

2.  The Sox signed their 2B, so Kimbrel isn't going in a package for a new 2B.

3.  Kimbrel wouldn't net a better RF than what we already have.

4.  Kimbrel also wouldn't net starting pitcher depth of any quality.

Conclusion?  Kimbrel has the biggest upside of anything you could swap him for, so to trade him might save money, but it would make the team worse.

Ok.....and you expect him to say "no we are trading him."

Don't be stupid

On Kimbrel, that's probably a fair assessment. His value might be higher once a team is in desperate need of a proven closer and the Sox can wait for the right offer.

No way can the Sox risk him sucking to start the year again as a non-closer

I am pretty sure, he literally couldn't say that without it being considered tampering.

It'll be fascinating to see what the Sox actually get for Kimbrel considering Segura and McNeil likely aren't happening. Upper minors pitching depth might actually make the most sense at this point.

Without Kimbrel, our bullpen is now

CL Hendriks

SU Graveman

SU Bummer (L)

MR Kelly

MR Crochet (L)

MR Ruiz

MR Burr

Not a bad deal. He got the same deal as Neris.

17 million total with a probable buyout isn't awful.

I still would like them to add Tepera if Kimbrel is traded….just not a believer still in Crochet, wish that Velocity came back last year.

Jeurys Familia got $6 million from the Phillies with incentives adding up to $7 million. I'd rather have Kelly at $8.5 million/year.
