This is the most baffling. Beyond "White Sox advance scouting and preparation is complete garbage", the only other explanation I can come up with is "Pollock can't hit fastballs anymore, so he has to extra gear up for them, which makes him super vulnerable to sliders". But even then he swings at some completely non-competitive offspeed pitches so I don't know what the hell is going on.

Anyone have a comparison on the number of HRs we've hit in this recent hot stretch vs. however many games it took to hit that many before this stretch?

Kind of feel like Eloy came back and was like "guys, screw grounders, just hit dingers" and everyone gave Menechino the bird. But this is just the narrative I choose to believe.

You could always check box scores.

You know it’s bad when there are so many things to hate about the organization that you forget this guy is still employed.

He lives rent free in my head, ill never forget. Turned our top 3 ranked exit velocity team into slap hitters

Here is your monthly update on the White Sox’s offense:

  • BB %: 30th
  • K %:  5th
  • ISO: 28th
  • EV: 9th
  • HH %: 10th
  • BABIP: 3rd
  • BA: 4th
  • OBP:  18th
  • OPS: 18th
  • wRC+: 19th

Not surprising we also have the 6th lowest launch angle, 6th highest GB rate, and the highest opposite field rate.  This is not a talent issue, this is a well designed organizational approach executed by our beloved hitting coach.

This approach is dumb enough just from a modern baseball standpoint, but to think it makes any sense when you play half your games at Guaranteed Rate it quickly becomes pure negligence.  We have been out-homered 66 to 43 or by 53% at home despite plenty of guys with raw power and who hit the ball hard.

That’s 100% unacceptable and Menechino should have been relieved of his duties a long time ago.  The fact that he hasn’t means he’s either protected by Tony or the front office was complicit in the design of this approach.  Either way, may the baseball gods take mercy on our souls and give us a few more HRs.

Until the walk% rises to above average this team cannot win big.  What wins championships is brining ultra competitive at bats one after another after another.  Swing at strikes,  do not swing at balls.

every team coming to play the Sox are telling their pitchers they do NOT have to throw strikes.  And what’s even worse is this hitting coach is taking guys with this poor plate discipline and ALSO trying to have them focus on oppo singles… like at least swing for the fences if you’re gonna have that bad plate discipline.

shocked he is going to make it thru the entire season
